Unfortunately, the need for some Christians to think that the Bible is a science textbook, clouds not only our rational thought, but it causes unbelievers to see us as ignorant. You can’t be intellectually honest and think that nothing existed on this planet, or the universe, before the biblical timeline. Wake up! We are not the center of the Universe. If someone thinks that the stars were created so humans can figure out times and for navigation, then what about the millions of galaxies that are only visible with a telescope? The creation story gave an account of the stages of Creation. Yes, it may have been made by Jehovah, but no, it surely doesn’t stand up to critical thinking, as presented. Moses was given a nation of farmers and he gave them a story that showed that the God who freed them from slavery was indeed their owner because He created them. He has intellectual property rights. This world is His, and everything on it belongs to Him, including us. The monuments built with technology beyond even today’s capabilities, fossils found and geological anomalies, all attest to a planet that has been inhabited and desolated many times. The current era might be less than ten thousand years. The devastation that awaits us described in Revelation 6 marks the next catastrophic event, and after that the final one that causes the total destruction of earth.
Granted there are several scientists who peddle their findings as more legitimate then they are. That’s how they make money to support their hobby. Many denominations have also twisted biblical content to support their claims. Honestly, what would be the point of Yahweh putting dinosaur fossils in the ground or any of the other ridiculous things to make the earth seem older? It’s not heresy to be logical and Christian. To dismiss every theory purely based on the fact that you can’t find it written in scripture is stifling to our testimony. God uses scientific principles to create and maintain. These can be observed and testify to intelligent design. I think more intelligent people would come to know the Lord if they weren’t pushed out the door by Christians who are afraid to learn that all things in the Bible are for spiritual edification, some by concrete explanation and some by allegorical accounts. They all teach that God is supreme, whether you are a farmer or a scientist.
