Basically the eye pressure is damaging the optic nerve. The nerve fibres die and are no repairable, therefore leading to blindness.

I was so shocked to see certain post this morning , especially about the post of not reading the Gospel of John , how can anyone in Christ Jesus suggest such a thing when the very book of John is the inspired word of God...

It was very disturbing to read that amongst other things this man says , @Pisteuo , you are bearing false witness to Gods sacred word , and putting also your " teacher " on your own throne you have made for him above the throne of God...

The Holy Spirit of God is our Teacher...
