was it because they thought they became gods?
was it because they trusted in the serpent more than what God had told them ?

The cherubim and its sword blocked not only Adam's access to the tree of
life, but everybody else's access too; and I believe for a very practical
reason.
One of the societal problems associated with STDs is the development of
treatments for those kinds of diseases. The treatments are not bad per se;
the problem is that knowing that there's treatments emboldens people to
indulge in immorality.
In other words: had God allowed humanity continued access to the garden,
no doubt they would have included the forbidden fruit in their diets on a
regular basis because there would be little to fear from its effects due to the
ready availability of fruit from the tree of life. They would, as it's said, have
their cake and eat it too.
So, everyone was doomed to an eventual expiration no matter whether rich
or poor, young or old, male or female, righteous or unrighteous, holy or
unholy, pious or impious, vegetarian or meat eater. Even Jesus would have
eventually died of natural causes had he not been crucified. If the human
body-- as God created it --is to remain strong and healthy indefinitely, it has
got to have that tree in its diet; but not to happen because God wants
everyone to die at least once. (Heb 9:27)

thats interesting but what about being redeemed.
Adam was created with immortality; which he lost due to eating fruit from
the forbidden tree. In other words; he became mortal. The tree of life
produces a remedy for mortality.
Well; God wanted Adam dead, so in order to assure his demise, God had to
keep Adam away from the tree of life lest he become immortal again.

do you think it was good that they became wise ?Then the LORD God said, “Behold, the man has become like one of us in knowing good and evil. Now, lest he reach out his hand and take also of the tree of life and eat, and live forever—” therefore the LORD God sent him out from the garden of Eden to work the ground from which he was taken. He drove out the man, and at the east of the garden of Eden he placed the cherubim and a flaming sword that turned every way to guard the way to the tree of life.
(Gen 3:22-24)
well i agree it was love that placed them out side the garden untill God could redeem what he had lost .Adam & eve only had life as long as they could eat the tree of life, GOD took the GARDON & tree of life from them so HE would NOT have eternal sinners,
If HE had not took the tree of life from them they would not have died.
GOD bless as HE sees fit
i do agree with youThey had become faulty.. God would not allow faulty beings to have access to the tree of life because having such access would ensure they would not die.. So they where cast out to stop them having access to the tree of life..
Where does the text say 'they became wise'? Seems to me they lacked the wisdom to act on the knowledge of good and evil. Perhaps Paul laments a similar plight...do you think it was good that they became wise ?
if so why did God keep them from eating it
just asking by the way![]()

gen 3:4 “You will not certainly die,” the serpent said to the woman. 5 “For God knows that when you eat from it your eyes will be opened, and you will be like God, knowing good and evil.”
gen 3:7 Then the eyes of both of them were opened, and they realized they were naked; so they sewed fig leaves together and made coverings for themselves.
gen 3:22 And the Lord God said, “The man has now become like one of us, knowing good and evil. He must not be allowed to reach out his hand and take also from the tree of life and eat, and live forever.”
Romans 7:18-23 paul is saying how he was sold to sin
rom 7:14 We know that the law is spiritual; but I am unspiritual, sold as a slave to sin. 15 I do not understand what I do. For what I want to do I do not do, but what I hate I do.
to me rom 1 said what it is to be sold to sin
rom 1:28 Furthermore, just as they did not think it worthwhile to retain the knowledge of God, so God gave them over to a depraved mind, so that they do what ought not to be done. 29 They have become filled with every kind of wickedness, evil, greed and depravity. They are full of envy, murder, strife, deceit and malice. They are gossips, 30 slanderers, God-haters, insolent, arrogant and boastful; they invent ways of doing evil; they disobey their parents; 31 they have no understanding, no fidelity, no love, no mercy. 32 Although they know God’s righteous decree that those who do such things deserve death, they not only continue to do these very things but also approve of those who practice them.
and in rom 7 what restored us back to the father
rom 8 continues in the same pattern
24 What a wretched man I am! Who will rescue me from this body that is subject to death? 25 Thanks be to God, who delivers me through Jesus Christ our Lord
just wanted to show verses that they the became wise in the tree of knowledge
rom 8 continues in the same pattern
thx for the input
I understand they did wrong
but what was the wrong they did ?
how hard was it to convince them to eat the fruit ?
I would think they had Gods nature on them
so some thing had to click, change eve even told the serpent
gen 3:2 The woman said to the serpent, “We may eat fruit from the trees in the garden, 3 but God did say, ‘You must not eat fruit from the tree that is in the middle of the garden, and you must not touch it, or you will die.
she knew to do right .
why did her trust fall?
4 “You will not certainly die,” the serpent said to the woman. 5 “For God knows that when you eat from it your eyes will be opened, and you will be like God, knowing good and evil.
There was NO one else BUT Adam & Eve
WRONG. God was there with them, as was the serpent satan.. Nowadays the ONLY thing in the garden is the cherubim with the flaming sword..
Perhaps this will help you have a better understanding of the narrative.was it because they thought they became gods?
was it because they trusted in the serpent more than what God had told them ?
