Cop out and misleading reply. There is no way to know if the interpreter understands what is said when the tongues are unknown. There is no interpreters in praying in tongues. Tongues ended with the completion of the NT scriptures. Tongues are a result of the curse of God on Nimrod at Babel.

Sometimes two people do get the same interpretation of tongues. One gives it before the other one does. The same happens with prophesying. There have also been cases where people who understand a language have heard it 'in tongues' and verified the interpretation.
But if no one there does, it is not a Biblical requirement that they do. Paul even said, "No man understandeth him" so it wasn't the norm for others to understand in their church meetings back then either.
