The greatest preachers in history held the belief that the KJV was the infallible, pure words of God preserved in the English language. When the new versions started to come out, seminaries started putting out pastors who were educated out of the belief in God's word. God's word could be corrected through their higher learning as they saw fit.
That was supposed to be a revision to the KJV but the translators ignored the objective and came up with a new, significantly different translation. Probably due to using the Vaticanus and Sinaiticus, that and they changed words like Easter back to Passover.
Yes, this period in Church history, the local churches are majority lukewarm.
A friend of mine calls it advanced revelation. He describes advanced revelation as something revealed more clearly. The King James Bible sheds more light on things. Advance revelation is not additional revelation from God apart from the Bible. The Bible is where we receive revelation from God.
The King James Bible is improved over the Hebrew and Greek in revealing the words of God. Advance means "improved" and revelation means "the act of discovering to others what was before unknown". In comparison to the King James Bible, the Hebrew and Greek is not as clear when showing the words of God.
When going to the Greek and Hebrew, the "scholars" use their own definitions, interpretations and translations, while most of the time going to the wrong manuscripts. They can even translate wrongly when using the right texts, Masoretic and Textus Receptus. When they do this, they set themselves up as their own authority when God has already preserved his word in the King James Bible. God did not inspire the King James translators, but He did lead them in their translating and while they were humble (James 4:10) and referred themselves as poor instruments, they were far superior translators than the modern day "scholars" today.

I was going to say Jesus, then Peter, then Paul so not even the top three held that view. In fact no preacher for 1600 years held that view. Neither did any preacher in the 1600s or 1700s felt that way. I think this KJV only thing has been a recent thing.

Very similar claims are made about The Book of Mormon and The Unholy Koran.
I prefer the truth. Which is that my God can transmit his message in all languages of all eras because he is THE Master of language.
As clearly demonstrated in Genesis 11 and Acts 2.
The message of the bible is hidden from most people in symbols and allegories, just like this one. Jesus speaking to the Pharisees asked why they couldn't understand what he was saying? His answer was that they couldn't hear His Word in the words he was speaking to them. His Word was hidden in his speech. Without the "key" the symbols can't be deciphered.
The bible serves 3 purposes as far as I can tell. One is to convict people of sin. Second is to hide Christ from the world and lastly it is to fully reveal who Christ is to those that are his.
2 Kings 10
There were seventy descendants of King Ahab living in the city of Samaria. Jehu wrote a letter and sent copies to the rulers of the city, to the leading citizens, and to the guardians of Ahab's descendants. The letter read: 2 “You are in charge of the king's descendants, and you have at your disposal chariots, horses, weapons, and fortified cities. So then, as soon as you receive this letter, 3 you are to choose the best qualified of the king's descendants, make him king, and fight to defend him.”
4 The rulers of Samaria were terrified. “How can we oppose Jehu,” they said, “when neither King Joram nor King Ahaziah could?” 5 So the officer in charge of the palace and the official in charge of the city, together with the leading citizens and the guardians, sent this message to Jehu: “We are your servants, and we are ready to do anything you say. But we will not make anyone king; do whatever you think best.”
6 Jehu wrote them another letter: “If you are with me and are ready to follow my orders, bring the heads of King Ahab's descendants to me at Jezreel by this time tomorrow.”
The seventy descendants of King Ahab were under the care of the leading citizens of Samaria, who were bringing them up. 7 When Jehu's letter was received, the leaders of Samaria killed all seventy of Ahab's descendants, put their heads in baskets, and sent them to Jehu at Jezreel.
Where do you find that truth? All versions contain different words of truth. Only one can be the very word of God, or none.
Because in saying the KJV improved on the original languages, he's claiming that the translators were smarter than God, taking his view out of reason and into fantasy.
I don't insult people, but I am quite liberal in my criticism of bad ideas. I sometimes make personal comments that are founded on the person's own words, as I have done here. In my view, you have proven that you lack any credibility in this discussion.
I am absolutely certain that is not what you meant. If it were, it's yet another bad argument for the KJV, because any English translation is better than the Hebrew or Greek for those who don't read Hebrew or Greek.
No he's not claiming the KJV translators were smarter than God, he's saying that God INSPIRED them to write what they wrote.
Re-inspiration is a convenient fantasy invented by onlyist folks to prop up their closed-minded adherence to the KJV. It has no basis in either Scripture or history.
