"But I keep under my body, and bring it into subjection: lest that by any means, when I have preached to others, I myself should be a castaway." (1Cor9:27)
Is it really possible that after preaching to others Paul himself could be disqualified? Clearly Paul was preaching and teaching the truth. So this can not be a reference to false teachers.
1Co 9:26 I therefore so run, not as uncertainly; so fight I, not as one that beateth the air:
1Co 9:27 But I keep under my body, and bring it into subjection: lest that by any means, when I have preached to others, I myself should be a castaway.

From G1 (as a negative particle) and G1384; unapproved, that is, rejected; by implication worthless (literally or morally): - castaway, rejected, reprobate.
Paul said if he did not keep under his body, and bring it in to subjection, which is to abstain from sin then he would be rejected and considered a reprobate.
But of course Paul is saved and made it to heaven but he is saying that our lifestyle to be Christlike by the Spirit will ensure our salvation not only saying I am a Christian but being doers not only hearers.
Many people do not allow the Spirit to lead them and hold unto sin and believe they still have salvation.
But even if we are led of the Spirit we still have the possibility to sin if we want and if we do sin we get rid of it and move forward.
Which those that are led of the Spirit if they sin will repent and get rid of it and move forward, where those without the Spirit will hold unto sin and believe they still have salvation.
Which they are lovers of pleasures more than lovers of God, having a form of godliness but denying the power thereof, from such turn away, ever learning and never able to come to the knowledge of the truth.
Paul said a Spirit led life will not fulfill the lusts of the flesh for they have crucified the flesh with the affections and lusts, and show the ways of the Spirit and not the flesh.
And God will not allow them to be tempted above what they can handle and will give them an escape from the temptation so they can bear it so there is no excuse why a person cannot abstain from sin.
Paul said love is greater than faith, and faith works by love, and love is the fulfilling of the law, which love does not think an evil thought, and does not rejoice in iniquity but rejoices in the truth.
Which the Lord know them which are His having this seal that everyone that names the name of Christ depart from iniquity.
And awake to righteousness and sin not but some do not have the knowledge of God.
