So, you take words out of the context, for to defend your view. You can do it. But this is for me no serious bible study. The most cults acting likewise. In Rev 1,1 is nothing to find that this word signified means symbol. Otherwise it would be written with the greek word for symbol.

Scripture defines the word in how others use it.

We can see that in the time period as a parable or called a figure when there were Kings in Israel, a pagan tradition before the reformation.

Letters of the alphabet are symbols. Before God used the written tongue , pictures symbols were used to signify. . give understanding. .

Like the picture of the chaste virgin bride of Christ in Revelation 12. Again we use the signified language to find the hidden gospel meaning.

You could say a picture is like a thousand words and a thousand words represents a picture. The same with a thousand years in chapter 20's parable.

The parable below if filled with metaphors that require the prescription found in 2 Corinthians 4:18

Revelation 12 King James Version (KJV) And there appeared a great wonder in heaven; a woman clothed with the sun, and the moon under her feet, and upon her head a crown of twelve stars: And she being with child cried, travailing in birth, and pained to be delivered.

To hate is to not bless. Some turn that into dislike anger, resentment. . cut off .

Please, where is that what you have written a prove that rev.1,1 means symbol?

Normaly yes, but you take words out of the context and the meaning. And signified has an other meaning as the word symbol.
They are not exchangable. And reader of revealation 1 must not need another book for to know what is meant with the word signified.

In the beginning was the unseen word symbolized by letters. . Let there be and it appeared. . . that in what the words symbolized. And it was Good .God's invisible signature. . his sign to us.

One thing I would offer. The word signified in Revelation 1 is not alone .The word and identifies the kind of prophecy . Inspired and defined as a parable .Using the things seen the temporal to give the unseen hidden gospel understanding.

Without parables the hidden Manna. . .Christ spoke not.
