Genesis 5:26 - Methuselah age

I have come across something disturbing concerning this verse, in Gen 5.26. What I have found disturbing is that of the three versions of the bible I compare KJV(masoretic text), The Septuagint and the Samaritan Pentateuch, in each version, the age concerned is different.

KJV is listed as 782 years, The Septuagint listed as 802 years, and the Samaritan Pentateuch 653 years. My question is why the difference?

Not sure what the issue is other than the age given is based upon AFTER he had LAMECH

25 And Methuselah lived an hundred eighty and seven years, and begat Lamech.

26 And Methuselah lived after he begat Lamech seven hundred eighty and two years, and begat sons and daughters:

27 And all the days of Methuselah were nine hundred sixty and nine years: and he died.

Because Satan is working in man things that cause confusion , And the more that man has todo with it ,the more it becomes confusing

The reason that it is not a FULL end, is because after the 1000 years in haven the new Jerusalem is going to come down from HEAVEN. And then the earth will have man & women on it again, PRAISE THE LORD, GOD bless as HE sees fit, GOOD night to ALL. I need to get some rest for SABBATH WORSHIP IN THE MORNING. Alright then, based on this above response, which is the correct reading to go by? The Masoretic text, The Septuagint or The Samaritan Pentateuch ?

26 And Methuselah lived, after he begat Lamech, seven hundred eighty and two years,.... The Greek version is eight hundred and two years, and so makes the sum total of his life the same; but the Samaritan version only six hundred and fifty three, and so makes his whole life but seven hundred and twenty; and thus, instead of being the oldest, he is made the youngest of the antediluvian patriarchs, excepting his father Enoch:

Personally, I wouldn't put too much stock in the Samaritan Version, at least not in this case.

This is in the KJV and it is correct since it is derived from the Masoretic (traditional) Text.

Both the Septuagint (LXX) and the Samaritan Pentateuch are CORRUPTED versions of the OT. Yet the modern critics and the modern versions have resorted to them. You should simply ignore them. The LXX is full of corruptions, some very serious.

Alright then, based on this above response, which is the correct reading to go by? The Masoretic text, The Septuagint or The Samaritan Pentateuch ?

Well I use the KJV BIBLE , with a STRONG's concordance to check out the words meanings, if I having problems with understanding it, Or if it don't seem too line up with the rest of the BIBLE, You GOT to remember these men that translated the BIBLE came out of the DARKDAYs , SO we need to check out some of the word meanings ,

Personally, I wouldn't put too much stock in the Samaritan Version, at least not in this case.

The Samaritans were a mixture of Jews and pagans, and their theology was correspondingly distorted. There would be no *Samaritan Pentateuch* if they had simply stuck to the Hebrew Torah. And the LXX borrowed from the Samaritan Pentateuch also.

Here is Genesis 5 in the Brenton LXX. Changes to the text are marked in RED. Generally it has added and subtracted 100 years to make the total the same. However the whole chapter has been corrupted.

1 This is the genealogy of men in the day in which God made Adam; in the image of God he made him:
2 male and female he made them, and blessed them; and he called his name Adam, in the day in which he made them.
3 And Adam lived two hundred and thirty years, and begot a son after his own form, and after his own image, and he called his name Seth. [100 years added]

Methuselah =When he die it will come, The flood, He die before it rain ,That is what His name means ,so they say,

Methuselah was the longest living human ever recorded yet he died before his father.😀😀

The modern versions are based upon the critical text (Kittel's Biblia Hebraica) which resorted to the corrupt Septuagint and the Samaritan Pentateuch to *correct* the Masoretic (Traditional) Text.
