You made that jump by insisting that only true believers persevere. The saved Galatians must not have been true disciples (though Paul says they were) because they did not "continue in My word".
Only genuine believers do persevere. Who said the Galatians did not continue? That is your biased conclusion. Getting temporarily side tracked by legalistic teachers does not mean they did not ultimately continue. "You who are trying to be justified by the law have fallen away from grace," but had they fully come to that place yet? Galatians 3:3 reads: Are you so foolish? Having begun in the Spirit, are you now being made perfect by the flesh? The middle voice implies "making yourselves perfect" by means of self effort. The present tense indicates that the action is in progress and that there is still time to correct the error. If these Galatians lost their salvation and it was a done deal, then why didn't Paul simply say you "lost your salvation" and I'm done with you? Instead, in verse 10, he said - I have confidence in you, in the Lord, that you will have no other mind; but he who troubles you shall bear his judgment, whoever he is.

The apostle Peter denied Christ 3 times and all the remaining 11 disciples (after Judas betrayed Jesus) were said to "fall away" (Matthew 26:31-35) when Jesus was arrested. According to your logic, they did not continue and lost their salvation, but that was not the case. Later in Galatians 2:11-15, we read that Paul had to rebuke Peter because he was not being straightforward about the truth of the gospel. When certain men came from James, he would eat with the Gentiles; but when they came, he withdrew and separated himself, fearing those who were of the circumcision. 13 And the rest of the Jews also played the hypocrite with him, so that even Barnabas was carried away with their hypocrisy. According to your logic, where did that leave Peter? You need to stop jumping to biased conclusions.

@Judges1318 states "the promises end for you"

I just think how does someone have audacity to make such a false claim.

It's like he puts words in God's mouth... very troubling.

Then the Galatians were not sheep (even though Paul plainly says they were saved) because they did not continue in faith in Christ for justification.
Who said they did not continue in faith? Temporarily stumbling and permanently falling away are two different things. You need to stop jumping to conclusions for the sake of your biased doctrine.

They left faith in Christ for justification. No if's, and's, or but's about it. And yet they were genuinely saved. That doesn't fit well into the Calvinist leaning kind of osas doctrine that you endorse that says their leaving showed they were never with us. Don't downplay what happened to them. Paul doesn't. Not in the least.
Show me the words, "they left faith in Christ" and "lost their salvation." Once again, "You who are trying to be justified by the law have fallen away from grace," but had they fully come to that place yet? Galatians 3:3 reads: Are you so foolish? Having begun in the Spirit, are you now being made perfect by the flesh? The middle voice implies "making yourselves perfect" by means of self effort. Instead, in verse 10, he said - I have confidence in you, in the Lord, that you will have no other mind; but he who troubles you shall bear his judgment, whoever he is. The Amplified Bible reads - I have confidence in you in the Lord that you will adopt no other view [contrary to mine on the matter]; but the one who is disturbing you, whoever he is, will have to bear the penalty.

Don't down play Paul's confidence and God's preservation.

This clown regularly adds to the word of God and or embellishes it.....we all know where that tradition started.........and it began with one word....

NOT!

It’s not faith in Christ that justifies, but the faith of Christ. Huge difference. The faith of Christ is a doctrine left out of the new versions.

Galatians 2:16 Knowing that a man is not justified by the works of the law, but by the faith of Jesus Christ, even we have believed in Jesus Christ, that we might be justified by the faith of Christ, and not by the works of the law: for by the works of the law shall no flesh be justified.

Our faith may fail, but Christ’s faith never fails.

The word of can be translated of or from.....both indicate source.......the reason we are secure, saved, justified and sanctified positionally and eternally is because...

JESUS begins faith in us, JESUS sustains faith in us even if we become faithless, Jesus finishes faith in us and Jesus completes the work of faith in us......

HE is the rock and anchor of our soul and our faith.

Christ as the source never fails

Yes ...I agree wholeheartedly...yet when I read the faith of Christ .... I think of His faithfulness to His purpose as Saviour.

I just get the sense that John means Jesus had to have faith to do what He did and we receive His faith?

Maybe I am making it too complicated.:)

Okay I see ...so it could be the "faith from Jesus"

All good there... but did Jesus have "faith" like @John146 talks about?

Jesus had perfect, sinless faith. He was completely obedient unto His Father, even unto the death of the cross. The faith of Christ is God’s righteousness which is given to thos who believe.

Our faith waivers. Our faith could never justify. Christ’s faith never waivers. It’s the only faith that can justify.

Philippians 3:9 And be found in him, not having mine own righteousness, which is of the law, but that which is through the faith of Christ, the righteousness which is of God by faith:

You see, the law brought about self righteousness because it was based upon one’s own faith. God’s righteousness is based upon the faith of Jesus Christ.

I’ve studied it in depth. I think I understand it well. Thanks for your concern.
Not concerned.... I guess I have not come across this before....the way you word it and put it together.

We cannot alleviate the human aspect of Christ........as a man he was the forerunner if you will...the Author of FAITH.....the beginner, finisher and completer of faith in man.......the difference in us and Christ.......his faith never waiver'ed...he set his face like flint and stood strong.....the only micro second was when he said...."if it be possible, let this cup pass from me" but immediately said..NOT what I will, but what YOU WILL........

note.....

For I say, through the grace given to me, to everyone who is among you, not to think of himself more highly than he ought to think, but to think soberly, as God has dealt to each one a measure of faith.

You should get a KJV and stick with it.😉
John.....the King Jimmy is a transliteration, translation.....the current conversation has nothing to do with a particular translation........nor does the King Jimmy set the standard for the use of "of/from" as the word can be translated both ways and both indicate source....

GOD "JESUS" has dealt to all men a measure of faith <---source

and JESUS begins the work of faith in us <---Source

JESUS finishes the work of faith in us <----Source

Jesus completes the work of faith in us <---Source

and even if WE become faithless, JESUS abides faithful because he cannot deny himself....

FROM FAITH to FAITH it is written <-----explain this!

The faith of Jesus Christ is not found in the new versions. They all translate it in Christ not of Christ placing justification on the backs on men not Christ.

What he peddles is as bad as it comes............a form of Godliness, but 100% denies the power thereof............
Context.

2Tim 3:2 For men shall be lovers of their own selves, covetous, boasters, proud, blasphemers, disobedient to parents, unthankful, unholy,
2Tim 3:3 Without natural affection, trucebreakers, false accusers, incontinent, fierce, despisers of those that are good,
2Tim 3:4 Traitors, heady, highminded, lovers of pleasures more than lovers of God;
2Tim 3:5 Having a form of godliness, but denying the power thereof: from such turn away.

Incontinent?

Good word I think.
