The Pharisees were not saved because they trusted in themselves instead of Jesus.
They believed in God, and they boasted about their particular brand of religion, exactly like on here

I'm not intending to say any of you boast in your works instead of Christ. The Pharisees were proud and trusted themselves and hated Jesus. And because of this they were not saved.

Sorry for the misunderstanding.
Same drivel they peddle....a losable salvation that must be maintained by man...Open your eyes to this truth....they do not have the truth

@dcontroversal, I count you as a brother in Christ. And I count many here as brothers or sisters in Christ. I don't believe that someone who is in Christ can be taken out of him and condemned. It would not make sense. Even so, I can still have moments where I can get scared of going to hell.

I would like to know if you see me also as a sister in Christ though I may question, doubt and fear God's wrath at times.

I see you as a sister in Christ and Rosemaryx. Not that we should judge, but that is what the spirit tells me. God bless.

It is only if people fall into unbelief. An example would be those who once believed, but later in life come to believe the tomb and resurrection was a hoax.
1 John 3 they were never of us

what is it with the words never, forever and eternal that you can not understand?

I was saying you have to be one of the sheep already, before you can fall away. Do you understand the implications? The lost sheep are already saved, but now are lost.
Wrong wrong and wrong..

why do you insist in taking credit away fro God?

The Pharisees were not saved because they trusted in themselves instead of Jesus.
In effect the pharisee represents everyone who think what you do or do not do has a bearing on where you spend eternity.

Not true. I do not brag about my salvation, neither do I think I am superior. Humility is one of the graces.
You do when you cut others down who you say lose salvation

in effect, Your boasting of how much better you are than them

Like you

We do not teach religion. We teach grace and mercy.
religions says this is what I do. It does not focus on what someone else did

You are my sister in Christ.

I saw earlier on my old account many of your posts.

What I saw was a lack of assurance, but I also saw many wonderful qualities that look exactly like what God is working in me (some of which you have in abundance where I need growth)

I saw you speak against eternal security

but I also saw an honest desire to know the truth....

the more ive seen from you, the more i believe we have the same Teacher

the same Father

and the same Savior and Hope in Christ

love your perspective and often short but powerful posts

(i hope now you have a more fullness of understanding specifically in regards to the promises of God that are about Him keeping His own by His power and believe you in fact do...)

Agree... and how long have people tried to set them straight with the Gospel and still they continue on with the same ole tired argument not found anywhere in the Bible.
For such people "slippery grace/difficult burden perseverance/self preservation" IS a big part of THEIR Gospel. They seem to believe that Christ merely "initially" saved them, but now it's up to them to "pull themselves up by their own bootstraps" and "keep themselves saved" through their own personal endeavor and difficult burden of "self preservation." So pull themselves up by their own bootstraps and "keep themselves saved" (many believers will fail, but not them) is their boast. :cautious:

Cherry picking. You know full well there are lots of scriptures that warn believers against committing apostasy. It is just that you prefer to ignore them. More cherry picking. Mix-and-match your own cult. In the next chapter we are warned that whoever sins is of the devil. Now you know. So do not ever sin, although your cult will tell you it is impossible, which has to be a lie, or we would not be warned against sinning.

1Jn 3:4-8 KJV
(4) Whosoever committeth sin transgresseth also the law: for sin is the transgression of the law.
(5) And ye know that he was manifested to take away our sins; and in him is no sin.
(6) Whosoever abideth in him sinneth not: whosoever sinneth hath not seen him, neither known him.
(7) Little children, let no man deceive you: he that doeth righteousness is righteous, even as he is righteous.

(8) He that committeth sin is of the devil; for the devil sinneth from the beginning. For this purpose the Son of God was manifested, that he might destroy the works of the devil.

By the way, the people who left were not expelled from the church, they went out of their own accord and there are lots of people who do that today and always have done, for all I know you may have left several churches but that is not to say they don't believe.
