Lol. Which verse matey. Or should I just interpret it all for you??
missing the point.

read Scripture as a whole, breaking it down verse by verse and building theology around isolated verses is invalid .

would you like me to give you the history of when and why chapters and verses were added to Scripture??

That's a bit dodgy of you.

I am not dodging anything. I take the Bible as a whole, I refuse to build individual theology around isolated pieces of Scripture.

it's called systematic theology.

but, you have to actually read the entire Bible all the way through , in chronological order.
which I have. many times.

that is why it so easy to spot works based and backdoor sinless perfectionism garbage, just like yours.

OK since you raised Romans 6. Use your systematic theology to explain to us verses 1 and 2. Feel free to use the whole bible to explain those two verses. You can use Romans 1if you wish, deuteronomy, anything you feel is worthwhile in explaining this. I will review shortly when back online.

God is not the author of confusion indeed and it isn't about you agreeing with me but understanding the scriptures. I did write 2 Pet 2 so you can not put me in there. I understand both 2 peter 2 and 1 John 3, they don't contradict at all.

Then by your standards the tax collector (Zacchaeus) could not have been deemed a true son of Abraham by Jesus because like the rich young ruler he didn't sell everything and give to the poor. ..

If you don't seek the moral Jesus was teaching according to the mindset and situation that was occuring, then you get a conflict. Do rich people need to give everything? Or is half enough? Why did Jesus demand one thing, while approving something lessor?

In order to see the truth and not a multitude of contradictions, you have to look past the work itself and look into the heart of each situation.

What's the mina your master gave you? And what are you doing with it?
Not at all.

Every time someone came to Jesus asking what they must do to inherit the kingdom of God, the answer was the same; keep God's commandments. But keeping God's commandments means one thing, to love others:

Gal 5:14The entire law is fulfilled in a single decree: “Love your neighbor as yourself.”

Yet love is not a thought but a deed:

1 John 3:18Little children, let us love not in word and speech, but in action and truth.

What the tax collector did that the rich young ruler did not do is to love others. Simple.

1 John 4:7Beloved, let us love one another, because love comes from God. Everyone who loves has been born of God and knows God.

These things should be on your fingertips. You should be fully ready to give your account.

Maybe there is a friendly commentary you can get some inspiration from.

So your to-do list is all bendy. Easy to suit yourself I guess, but does it suit God when you miss the heart of faith?

I was Muslim and could out to-do all here... what I found, was that my to-do list based in fear of hell and my exceedingly literal interpretation of everything God ever said missed the entire point of the exercise.

It is meeting Christians such as yourself and living among you that only served to prove my ideas of right and wrong over and over and over again because you used Jesus as an excuse to fail in the to-do lists you proposed to be right, and you share a ball of contradictions with the world, instead of a risen Savior.

The Gospel is faith, faith not in ourselves, but in Him, and His reconciliation with fallen man/ to fallen man. The Gospel has a Savior, you have fallen short, and only a perfect God can save you from your sins.

It's not Jesus + 1 for salvation, it's Jesus. It's His work, and he is alive forever more and reconciles to us through the Spirit of the living God. If I do anything good it's because of the Spirit of God in me and not me..

If your every word glorifies your actions, then your like the Pharisee thanking God he didn't make you a sinner like me..

There's no to do list, love for others is not burdensome (Jesus said that). And faith is nothing more than loving others- i have shown you several times already.
The mistake most people make, they think works must be something you do in action and that belief is a thought; well wrong

Example: if i believe that 'remembering the sabbath to keep it holy' i will be saved, what actions (works) will i be doing when the command states that you shall not work on the sabbath?
Therefore, your idea about works is erroneous, and it is not a to do list but loving others.

Thoughts about Jesus does not save anyone. Take note.

STH, then what are your views on the sanctified believers who wilfully and continually live in sin in Hebrews 10v26? How does that reconcile to your above assertions?
Hebrews 10:26
King James Version

26 For if we sin wilfully after that we have received the knowledge of the truth, there remaineth no more sacrifice for sins,
+++
If It were possible.meaning It's not possible, for we are GODs handiwork created In CHRIST unto good works.
This Is just MY opinion
The WORD "IF" Is used as a description but according to John those that have been reborn will seek to purify their flesh to match the new creation they have become.

The WORD "IF" Is used as a description but according to John those that have been reborn will seek to purify their flesh to match the new creation they have become.

The IF in this context means exactly what is does in any computer program. A computer program works as follows (even Excel has this command):

IF........THEN........
IF <condition is present> THEN <Consequence>

If the computer program runs and it analyses the behaviour of a Christian and comes across the following scenario:

IF<Christian is willfully continuing in Sin without repentance> THEN <the blood of Jesus will not cover these sins>

Lets look at a different verse first, then we come back to Heb 10v26.

1 John 1
7 But if we walk in the light as He is in the light, <THEN> we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus Christ His Son cleanses us from all sin.

> So the computer program runs and finds the Christian not walking in the light. Because the above condition is not met, the second part no longer applies.

Now we come back to Hebrews 10v26-27
Hebrews 10
26 For if we sin willfully after we have received the knowledge of the truth, <THEN> there no longer remains a sacrifice for sins, 27 but a certain fearful expectation of judgment, and fiery indignation which will devour the adversaries.

Do you see that 1 John 1v7 is exactly the same as HEBREWS 10v26-27. Have a look again. Closely. See it?

I bet not many people have seen this.

Thoughts about Jesus does not save anyone. Take note.

Your still at the foot of the cross trying to pay for your sins and not sitting and learning at the foot of the risen Savior.. this entire thread is based on the premise of still paying the cost for sin..

Your in a thread saying works works works for salvation.

But now your walking it all back and saying love your neighbor is all, and its easy but God says it's more than this..

Jesus said that the two commandments - love God with all your heart, strength, and soul and love your neighbor as yourself are the requirement of the law. He also said love your enemies, because anyone can love those who love them.. and that we will be known for our love of one another..

Do you know how hard it is to love those you hate in the deepest part of your soul?

Do you understand that ALL the law and the Prophets hang on those two commandments?

All.. not one or two commandments, not some of them.. and these aren't things you can do in and of yourself - the very reason for the law to begin with was to show mankind we can't do it!

To fulfill this requirement took an act of God to accomplish! Not an act of ourselves - we can't even love one another adequately let alone God. yet, for those who are called the children of the living God can, because the Spirit of the living God is within them.

If you see those who are not living up to God's standards, perhaps you should be reminding them not of works, but of the reconciliation of God and man, the Gospel they are missing.. not the laws they aren't fulfilling.

We can't do anything without Him, and even with Him it's a process of learning, growing, maturing, making mistakes, even sinning sometimes... We grow from children to mature Christians and all growing has times of discipline, and times of victory - but for those who have the Spirit of God, God's work will never come back void, but will instead spread and grow..

Jesus's yoke is easy and the burden light because He did what we cannot..He succeeded where we fail and He didn't leave us alone.

No one that i know of says we are saved by our own works. You are misrepresenting people's views and love is a deed as opposed to thoughts- think about it.

If you find it difficult to love your enemies, don't make enemies.

And your thoughts about Jesus don't matter, judgement is based on what you do:

Matt 25:
31When the Son of Man comes in His glory, and all the angels with Him, He will sit on His glorious throne. 32All the nations will be gathered before Him, and He will separate the people one from another, as a shepherd separates the sheep from the goats. 33He will place the sheep on His right and the goats on His left.

34Then the King will say to those on His right, ‘Come, you who are blessed by My Father, inherit the kingdom prepared for you from the foundation of the world. 35For I was hungry and you gave Me something to eat, I was thirsty and you gave Me something to drink, I was a stranger and you took Me in, 36I was naked and you clothed Me, I was sick and you looked after Me, I was in prison and you visited Me.’

37Then the righteous will answer Him, ‘Lord, when did we see You hungry and feed You, or thirsty and give You something to drink? 38When did we see You a stranger and take You in, or naked and clothe You? 39When did we see You sick or in prison and visit You?’

I was agreeing that the person that has been made perfect by GOD will also seek to be perfect In their body.
You quoted 2 Peter can you harmonize those two scripture verses below and edify us all?

1 John 3:1-3
King James Version

1 Behold, what manner of love the Father hath bestowed upon us, that we should be called the sons of God: therefore the world knoweth us not, because it knew him not.

2 Beloved, now are we the sons of God, and it doth not yet appear what we shall be: but we know that, when he shall appear, we shall be like him; for we shall see him as he is.

3 And every man that hath this hope in him purifieth himself, even as he is pure.

2 Peter 2:22
King James Version

But it is happened unto them according to the true proverb, The dog is turned to his own vomit again; and the sow that was washed to her wallowing in the mire.

your can't act in love without a heart full of God's love...

For that, we need God.
