Interesting recap of the 6th day. Where are you reading that Adam was to "determine if she is suitable" (#10) and subsequently said, "yes" (#11)?
The scriptures are below. So, WHO was searching for a "suitable helpmate" for Adam.......I suppose it was the ONE that said it was not good for Adam to be alone, which was God.......:unsure:

Notice they do not say WHO is determining if a suitable helpmate is found for Adam yet, in verse 23 it is Adam that says, "This is now bone of my bone and flesh of my flesh..." which is understood as a "suitable helpmate."

God made Eve for Adam and knew what He was doing. So, one could argue that God determined and Adam simply agreed and received Eve from God. If Adam had rejected Eve, I wonder if he would have been in disobedience.......:unsure:

Anyway, what do you think, @EternalFire? Who determined if Eve was a "suitable helpmate" for Adam - God or Adam?

Genesis 2:18-23 King James Version (KJV)
18 And the Lord God said, It is not good that the man should be alone; I will make him an help meet for him.

19 And out of the ground the Lord God formed every beast of the field, and every fowl of the air; and brought them unto Adam to see what he would call them: and whatsoever Adam called every living creature, that was the name thereof.

20 And Adam gave names to all cattle, and to the fowl of the air, and to every beast of the field; but for Adam there was not found an help meet for him.

21 And the Lord God caused a deep sleep to fall upon Adam, and he slept: and he took one of his ribs, and closed up the flesh instead thereof;

22 And the rib, which the Lord God had taken from man, made he a woman, and brought her unto the man.

23 And Adam said, This is now bone of my bones, and flesh of my flesh: she shall be called Woman, because she was taken out of Man.

I think it is dangerous to start reading things into the text. Clearly, there is no indication that Adam was to determine if she was suitable and then subsequently make some judgment on the matter. What we know from the Scripture is that there was not a suitable help meet for Adam and then there was one, after God formed her from his body. It was the LORD God who said that it is not good for the man to be alone, and He created the solution. He did not need to consult Adam, nor did He need to have His workmanship approved.

No one said God needed to consult or get Adam's approval.

Didn't Adam have a choice? :unsure:

Yes and I have a theory about the days....which are marked off in EVENINGS AND MORNINGS, not necessarily HOURS
I see your point.........

The Events of the 6th Day, according to scripture (Genesis 2) and the order in which they (might have) happened:

1 - God creates Adam from the dust of the Earth;
2 - Breathes into his nostrils and Adam becomes a living soul;
3 - Places Adam in garden of Eden to dress it, keep it, and take care of it
(Note: Adam is told he can eat of all trees except Knowledge of Good and Evil, the tree of life is also in the garden);
4 - God decides it is not good for man to be alone;
5 - God creates all land animals and birds (not to be confused with "fowl" which were created and the 5th day);
6 - God brings all the animals to Adam to name them;
7 - No suitable helpmate is found for Adam among everything that God had created;
8 - God puts Adam to sleep and takes one of his ribs;
9 - God creates a female from Adam's rib;
10 - God awakens Adam and gives him the female to name and determine if she is suitable;
11 - Adam says yes, the female is suitable because she is bone of his bone and flesh of his flesh;
12 - Adam names the female "woman" and calls her "Eve."
13 - God blesses them and says they are to become one and multiply
14 - God is well pleased and that concludes the 6th day.

Amazing that Adam could name all the animals in less than 24 hours!

One thing new that I learned was the difference between "fowl" and "birds." I always thought ALL BIRDS were created on the 5th day but, no. All fowl were created on the 5th day and all the birds were on the 6th day.

Interesting...............:unsure:

When you say that Adam was to determine if she was suitable (#10), it indicates that he somehow needs to approve or disapprove of God's work.

A choice? Think of this as an arranged marriage, as was common of marriage in the Bible.

Perhaps to you the word "determine" indicates that Adam somehow needs to approve or disapprove of God's work, BUT that is not what it indicates to me.

Determine to me means "make a decision based on what you can see, feel, hear, taste, and/or touch."

Yes, a choice. God made Eve specifically for Adam so, I'm sure it was a very easy choice but, still a choice.

Yes, it could have been an "arranged marriage" but, Adam's heart was involved - he was not a robot or forced into being one with Eve.

Even in science, organ donors need to be a "good match" so as to not be rejected by the body that is receiving the new organ. God knew this and chose to create Eve from Adam's own body instead of the dust of the Earth. It's as if they were already ONE.

Thanks for discussing this topic with me, I've enjoyed everything you have said. :love:(y)

No problem. I appreciate your creative imagination.

While it's sometimes fun to think about these types of things that are absent from the story, we have to be very, very careful not to let them influence our interpretation. The topic of "free will" is just not present here, and the phrase "Adam's heart was involved" sounds like some modern relationship book on marriage.

The LORD God did not ask Adam to choose whether or not he wanted to be put into a deep sleep. Adam didn't have some debate in his head about being with the woman God created. He wasn't asking himself how does this woman make me feel in order to make some decision. The LORD God saw that it was not good for the man to be alone, so he took action and, like all his other acts described in this part of Genesis, it was good.

Okay. I do not know the name of the fruit.
This is a fruit that you see with a dream or a mirror, not the eyes. The implication is consciousness. Self awareness or the knowledge of self. The serpent never mentions this tree or fruit. He asks Eve if she is permitted to eat of every tree in the Garden. She is the one to tell the serpent that she is not permitted to eat of the fruit of this tree. He then tells her if she eats from this tree then her eyes will be opened. Of course there is a lot more to the story then this. Hebrew letters are symbols and each letter has meaning.

One thing to be gleaned from the tree of good and evil is....

we overcome evil with good;

evil always underestimates the power of love because it cannot know love, it only knows itself -completely trapped in SELF - no knowledge of God - just lives in false identity- a world of lies that appear true....

very sad, very sad indeed.....

Evil is weak. Good can overcome evil. Evil only overcomes good when Good chooses to do nothing.

They say that Queen Esther had all the same temptations as Eve. Only Esther made all the right choices. So if there is a moral then it is good to be a Godly women. It is bad to be a women of the evening that uses her nakedness to tempt men. At least that is the message of the greek myth that we get the apple from.

Apples are native to Asia not Eden. The apple is a part of Greek Mythology and represents knowledge. So it would appear that the fruit was knowledge or perhaps self awareness or consciousness. "it was desirable for obtaining wisdom, she took the fruit and ate it." They they saw they were naked. The Greek Myth mentions nymphs. (Genesis3:6)
They just became aware of SELF - that’s why they knew they were naked.

Knowledge of God - our Creator is sooooo much more intriguing and life giving to us than just knowledge of good and evil.

I want to know and love God, my Creator MORE than I want the knowledge of good and evil.....just saying!!!!

Heavenly Father,

You know my heart....grant me the desires of my heart, in the Name of Yeshua/Jesus, amen.

Esther’s LOVE for Mordaci, overcame her fear of the King and even death.

Good CAN AND WILL overcome evil EVERY TIME!

Good just has to be NOT hindered by fear........ Good has to push through and NOT fear because LOVE NEVER FAILS......ALWAYS VICTORIOUS!!!!

Hi there!
Sounds like things are going better, or else I just misread a while back. I was concerned by a post, but I know that the holidays can be rough seas.
No trivia for me. Hope things are going better for you and yours!

But I know sometimes, that lighter chat can deflect the onslaught of holiday joy, putting on that happy face, and the standard happy masks they hand out with the bulletins, and the copy and paste answers we've all been saying since the Sunday school teacher on probation brainwashed the students:. "whatever anyone says who walks into church tell them, "we are all happy Christians who never have any problems!".
