Growers know that what plants need is full-spectrum light, which may be supplied by special light fixtures and need not come directly from the sun. The light that God created on the first day would have been adequate for the needs of the plants created on the third day.
there are different lights placed in the firmament to give light upon the earth, so the light in the beginning isn’t mentioned as giving light on the earth.

I would agree. . God is Light. God is Spirit as the Spirit of light. Glory of God

He provides a full-spectrum for all living creation The light of his presence before the glory departed seemly on day 3 , today as under the Sun. . waiting till the last day. . when there will be no darkness, no night. The glory of the lord will be that light

Moving his unseen presence in the opening revelation of Genesis 1:1 ." . "Let the presence of God be" and there was light" The beginning or first work of the Spirit .Setting the stage for the last day.

Sort of like in . . . lights, camera, action ! Cutt and the leading man as the glory departs returning as a dove . . well pleasing to the father. ..

Genesis 1 King James Version (KJV)
And God said, Let there be light: and there was light. And God saw the light, that it was good: and God divided the light from the darkness.

Nothing at all anywhere in Scripture states, suggests, or hints that the glory departed on day 3. The darkness noted in Genesis 1 was physical darkness, the absence of physical light.

No light was given from earth to light the whole universe .This is as if the earth was the center. The light as to the glory of God in the beginning only lit up the earth with the focal point of the East to represent the rising of the Sun the garden before the fall.

The presence of God as the glory moved upon the face of the waters that covers the of earth as deep darkness. It was set aside for that purpose to represent the gospel mystery .That gospel light as to the hidden glory is represented by the temporal. (The Sun and the Moon) . That heaven or view point reveals the glory of the solar system . Not the glory of the faithful Creator. He uses the temporal seen (Sun and Moon) to represent the eternal not seen .Giving us parables to teach us how to "walk by faith." Hiding it from them who have no desire .

2 Corinthians 4:18 While we look not at the things which are seen, but at the things which are not seen: for the things which are seen are temporal; but the things which are not seen are eternal.

Yes before physical natural light source was switched on day 4. The Spirit of God as the supernatural light source hid himself as a our hiding place "The city of refuge" for 12 hours. Three days. . of hiding 12 and 12 hours revealing Himself.

Not awaking the love he works in us until he desires so. Like David said in the Psalms . ..When I awake thou are still with me, comforting us teaching us and bringing to our minds that which he has.

And I didn’t say the light departed on day 3,

yes I agree with the divide the light from the darkness, these are still in the universe

No there wasn’t light from the earth it was void and formless and I will agree the light in the beginning shined on it the void and formless and still shines though when the waters was divided from the waters below a firmament was place with the lights needed to shine on the formed earth no longer void

The answer to the problem is not in understanding God, but understanding the way Genesis was originally given. Moses wrote it in ancient Hebrew. He said that originally God created owr, and that word in ancient Hebrew has lots of the same meaning the Hebrew word shalom has. It is all goodness. Our word light was the closest word that it could be translated to, but it has nothing to do with a source of light.

Moses wrote the ancient Hebrew word moar to tell of the creation of the sources of light, and the plural of that word is moarot.

Have you considered "dark matter"? ... another interesting factor in light of what is written in Gen 1.

Also consider 1 Thess 5 where we are told we are children of light and children of the day ... not of the night or of darkness.

1 Thessalonians 5:

5 Ye are all the children of light, and the children of the day: we are not of the night, nor of darkness.

6 Therefore let us not sleep, as do others; but let us watch and be sober.

7 For they that sleep sleep in the night; and they that be drunken are drunken in the night.

8 But let us, who are of the day, be sober, putting on the breastplate of faith and love; and for an helmet, the hope of salvation.

And this of coarse the sun and moon are not actual male and female though the mentioning of his and her is interesting.

Isaiah 13:10
For the stars of heaven and the constellations thereof shall not give their light: the sun shall be darkened in his going forth, and the moon shall not cause her light to shine.

Nor does the text say that it didn't.
