Hebrews 11:1 says

πίστις
pistis
pis'-tis
From G3982; persuasion, that is, credence; moral conviction (of religious truth, or the truthfulness of God or a religious teacher), especially reliance upon Christ for salvation; abstractly constancy in such profession; by extension the system of religious (Gospel) truth itself: - assurance, belief, believe, faith, fidelity.

Does the above verse define faith or description of faith, the substance of faith.

Hebrews 11:1

By Faith We Understand
1 Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen.
The verse defines faith.
It defines faith as being 'the evidence of things not seen'.
It's the ability to know that what you can't see is true.
And this ability--this faith--to know something is true that you cannot see comes from God.
It is a gift from God to you, given to you so you can then place your trust in what He is showing you to be true.
Most people reject faith and do not retain it in their heart, but instead they cast it away, and choose not to trust in what God has shown them to be true.

Pray do tell.
I don't think I've changed in terms of what I believe but maybe not expressed or conveyed it properly.

Everything I have posted over the last few pages is what I have believed for about the last 10 years.

God took me through the process when I was laid up with a bad back.
When I started to question "What is it that I believe? What is faith?
I thought if I had faith I had to work to be saved and if I didn't work hard enough then I did not have enough faith. Lived my life waiting for the "That's it you are no longer my child"

It started with

Romans 5:1-5

Faith Triumphs in Trouble
1 Therefore, having been justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ, 2 through whom also we have access by faith into this grace in which we stand, and rejoice in hope of the glory of God. 3 And not only that, but we also glory in tribulations, knowing that tribulation produces perseverance; 4 and perseverance, character; and character, hope. 5 Now hope does not disappoint, because the love of God has been poured out in our hearts by the Holy Spirit who was given to us.

The word "faith"

Justified by it (therefore peace, no longer emnity between God and us) have access into his grace and as a result we grow in it.

The main point for me was "Jesus I just want to be like you"

You just said people commit acts of faith all day. These acts of faith have nothing to do with God.
Ok, let me explain.

When you went to bed last night, did you make sure there was enough oxygen in the room to sustain you until morning?

Of course you didn't! You fulfilled a specific act of pisteuo!

The specific object of Faith is the oxygen and it's unseen.

You fulfilled the act by going to bed, based on the belief that there was enough oxygen, and you sustained the act based upon the belief by falling asleep.

As with most true acts of Faith and faithing, your life depends on it being successful. No half measure, no salvation in your back pocket.

Now, I can use this same scenario in a hundred other acts of Faith and faithing we fulfill every day.

Did you check gravity today ? Making sure you didn't float away?

Did you check your gas tank to make sure it wasn't leaking?

Did you make sure your tires did have anything in them to cause a blowout?

Did you make sure that when you had the green light and drove through the intersection, that the guy who had the red light would stop?

I could go on and on! God created us to be faithers! That is basically all we do each and every day. But the one act of Faith and faithing towards God, that may relate to recieving the Spirit of Christ, is a Continually surrendered life to Him, supporting such surrendered life with every decision we make.

I DO all of those things. They are what we DO. This is what faith is. I believe my chair will hold me when I sit down. That is faith.

A noun is a person, place, or thing.

I can pick up a 'thing' and hold it in my hand. You cannot do that with faith.

You are confused.

What about people who do not trust in what God has shown them to be true?

Jesus said "God loves you as much as he loves me"
He prayed to the Father that they may know that.
Yet many I walk with do not get it, even when I show them the verse.
Why would that be?

What is the result?
Would God he cast them out because they do not believe to be true for them?

You just said people commit acts of faith all day. These acts of faith have nothing to do with God.
Now if I have the Spirit of Christ, every act of faithing I do throughout the day dovetails into Christ and the personal relationship.

If I don't have the Spirit of Christ all acts of faithing have nothing to do with God.

If what I'm sharing with you makes you think I'm confused, then you probably aren't meant to know this yet.

Prayer is an act of faith, it is what you do. It is a verb. You cannot hold prayer in your hand like you could if it was a noun.

As for you sitting in the chair.

Your " faithing" wouldn't be in the chair as a whole, but in the unseen things that are holding the chair together. Glue, screws, dowels, etc.

They are still objects. Things we can see and hold are not things of faith. Faith is believing in the unseen.

No!
The only act of faithing that God responds to is just what the Greek dictionary tells us.

Vines: " a personal surrender to Him and a life inspired by such surrender"

I can't see the difference.

If I want to be like Jesus and walk in that way how is that not a personal surrender?

Ya, you got it!

I'm unseen, the object of your act of faithing.

The act, you rejecting my understanding. Based upon the belief, that it's incorrect. Sustained by putting me on ignore. And your life is hanging in the balance.

Two specific aspects.

A daily surrendered life, " and" a life inspired by such surrender!

What that means, is all of those little daily decisions that we make are choices that reflect whether we are truly surrendering our lives to Him every day. It's not about perfection, it's about a genuine daily surrender, and if we truly see our lives as His and not ours anymore.

If our continually surrendered life bears fruit, we will be seen by the Father as Christ! ( That's being justified by Faith and faithing).

But if we have any expectations of something in return for the surrendered life, that not a true surrendered life. So there's the rub. This is not a business deal or some kind of vending machine kind of process.

So if you want to be like Christ, genuinely surrender your life to Him every day, all day, and want nothing in return!
