You can't leave a church just because you are bored with it. Only reason to leave is if the church is doctrinilly unsound, or perhaps you find yourself in a different denomination. If you are not being "fed" tell this to the pastor.
You can't "find yourself in a different denomination"; you can choose to attend a church of a different denomination, but, oh... that would mean leaving your current church.

There are no such rules regarding leaving a church. There are principles for how to do it well, and under what circumstances to consider it, but these aren't "rules". If you are established in a local congregation, having been there for years, you do well to consider carefully whether and why you would leave. Also, you should not bounce around; choose somewhere, get settled, and invest in that congregation. :)

They have a hired company for that. I asked the pastor, he said it's best so people don't complain about how it's done.
Then go to the nursing home , in the area, go to the hospital, you do not "need" the "church" for that!

Off track, this is about the roll of church in my life, not all the wondrous works that one could engage in.

ok... So you don't like your church, and this is not about what you can do for the Lord, you just want to complain and have people back you up.... OK... Your church sucks for you; you should leave...

I love my church family and friends and love my church, but man I am getting bored with it.
It's mostly elderlies, and children and there just isn't anything there for me to do.
Don't get me wrong, I enjoy listening to my elderly friends share their experiences, but I prefer that sitting on a porch or lawn chair with a jar of tea.
Pastor preaches good messages and only once have I disagreed with something he preached and the was such a minor thing that it ain't worth discussion. It's just that there isn't any place to grow.
I even tried to play with the worship team, and at one time loved playing music, but I don't care to anymore.
It's kind of sad, but I may have to find someplace else to go, in order to be challenged, and have a place to grow. I want to learn more, and share what I have learned.
Find a good Bible study where discussion and interaction is encouraged.
Add a little praise and worship and praying for each other to that kind of Bible study and you have.......church.
And you'll like it, because it works the way God intended.

This is uncalled for, no one said any of this that you have jumped to. You don't understand the situation and supply nothing productive to the conversation so don't speak to the matter.

I may find myself trying some other denominations in order to test some other perspectives.
I have also talked to my pastor about doing a church history class. I have to figure out a good resource, and schedule to see if some of the folks are down for it. The class would force me to study more and visiting another church about once a month may turn something.
I would like to thank so many of y'all for the input that has giving me these ideas.

Good morning brother.
Last time I tried practicing guitar, my priorities were reading the bible, guitar practice and shallow prayer life. I did figure the order was wrong and could not practice to speak of for the last 6 monts, except for editing songs I wanted to practice. I did change the priorities, tho its a work in progress to seek the Lord first, and count it Joy to be forgiven and clensed of idolatry, and continue in prayer with thanksgiving. After a short reading this morning was impressed to pick up the guitar to sing a few words of the song give us clean hands. It became very obvious that the Lord did not care how I played poorly but the condition of my heart. It was refreshing to be free of performance, after all we have eternity to count it all Joy, lots of time to get it, and not that we have to get anything but to be content in relationship with Him. Your honesty is refreshing and you should visit other believers even if you would be impressed to stay where we are. I do so myself, It's not like someone elses beliefs would mess me up, I'm convinced we are all Loved as we are and it's what frees us to go on to more Light. If we would be dictated to changed the natural thing is to run away. The saying goes its God's Love that turns enemies into friends and most of us are slow to learn.
The Holy Spirit leads us in the Truth: the only thing that can't be forgiven is not learning to Love from Him. "All maner of sin ajall be forgiven to man but rejecting rhe Holy Spirit will not be forgiven. If we learn to Love and forgive then we are forgiven
Except those who won't Learn and yes that includes Catholics and Budists I forgive them to. After all my wife to be is Catholic. I forgive my beother who is learning ro love but dosent know Jeses, after all I hardly know Him miself. If you need references of where the sins of the Fathers are no longer passed on the children or proclaing deliverance let me know, but I think you will do well. Good speed brother.

My faith is inherently strong and unwavering, but I’m thoroughly bored with attending church services. I prefer staying home with the Bible and a cup of coffee, or taking a morning walk and meditating on the Word.

What we need is a fellowship of brothers who are ready to go deeper and share with each other the things we learn. It would be cool in a coffee shop or something.

After the holidays I’ll be attending Tuesday evening Bible study for learning the Word and fellowship. I hope you have the same opportunity.

If you're looking for good material on church history, check out Bruce Gore and Ryan Reeves on YouTube. The former is a teacher; the latter, a professor at Gordon-Conwell.

Your choice , If you feel you need to attend some other places it could even be the Lord prompting you and has something else for you .. As long as you stay faithful to Jesus .. Or God could be getting you out before you leaven the whole lump

The reason why church is boring is because pastors and teachers lack inspiration. And they lack it because our model of having church follows a liturgical, lecture style where the pastor speaks and everyone else listens. Not realizing that the pastor needs spiritual discussion and interaction to be inspired just as much as the congregation needs it. Paul knew this....

Romans 1:11-12
11For I long to see you so that I may impart some spiritual gift to you, that you may be established; 12that is, that I may be encouraged together with you while among you, each of us by the other’s faith, both yours and mine.

The pastor throws a subject, or verse, or passage of scripture out for discussion, guiding and leading that discussion with his knowledge and training, and through each of our gifts and contributions to the discussion, all of us, including the pastor, are edified and inspired by the Spirit working in and through us. The pastor may say something that inspires the activity of the Spirit in the group, and someone in the group may say something that inspires something in the pastor, further increasing his gift. Add praise and worship, and praying for each other to that as you get built up in the Spirit and you have church the way God intended it to be. And then you'll be ruined.......you'll never, ever want to go back to the way church used to be for you.

Why not resolve to visit a different church every week? This so as to find the one that fits your needs now. Sometimes we outgrow our church and have to move on. Nothing wrong with that.

I'd make sure where you visited they knew upfront you were only visiting so some won't fawn all over you trying to get you to join ..
Keep a low profile is my advice and don't lead them on ..

Good stuff. If I was the pastor of a church I would want an opening hymn, Scripture reading, a sermon, interactive discussion, prayer, a send off blessing and a wave goodbye. 😎

Mmmm, the first thing that comes to my mind is, what are your reasons for attending church? Entertainment? A sense of personal fulfillment? Enjoying the fellowship of like-minded individuals? What do all of these have in common?
We should not attend church to receive something, dear one, but to offer our worship and service to our Creator, the lover of our souls. Put your heart into "give mode" before you give up on your church family. Give it a try. Just sayin.
Maybe you could start a youth outreach? Instead of jumping ship, maybe you would be the one the Lord would use to bring in more young people to your Church. Be the change.
