John 3:16-18 is not about God's universal love (there is no such thing).

Hello, fellow brothers and sisters in Jesus Christ, saved objects of eternal just wrath to grace.

Here is what John 3:16-18 is really saying and implying, alot of people have it wrong and its important.

John 3:16-18 (the text itself)
16 “For God so loved the world,[a] that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life. 17 For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but in order that the world might be saved through him. 18 Whoever believes in him is not condemned, but whoever does not believe is condemned already, because he has not believed in the name of the only Son of God.

Here is a Paraphrase:

(Paraphrase: express the meaning of (something written or spoken) using different words, especially to achieve greater clarity)

Paraphrase:
GOD + LOVE + WORLD, World being: not just Israel, but also GENTILES.....indeed.... the Jews believed that the world was cursed by God and they were God's people, its quite to shock to Nicodemus the Pharisee........That God loves is to the world and not just Chosen Israel.

So WORLD doesn't mean universalism (false sinful doctrine), its talking about God's LOVE to the WORLD (not just Israel).

Okay, continuing on... God's LOVE is manifested in the cross THAT.. [THE ALL WHO BELIEVE] should not perish but have eternal life, that's correct! AKA the ALL who are believing, there is no WHOSOEVER in the greek...

Its the ONES that BELIEVE, which denotes a group... aka all the believing ones, like i said, there is NO WHOSOEVER in the text, its a bad word to use, so when you read that word you might think....... that MAN can believe and repent outside the elect grace of GOD, which is not true.

Anyway continuing: Verse 17: For God did not send his SON into the world to condemn the world, this is what they believed (the Jews), that God has come to bless them and curse the gentiles, BUT Jesus is saying NO....... I did not come to CONDEMN but to save the World (the world being not just Israel)... then to finish it up he says..... Verse 18: whosoever..... which is not implying that everyone can believe, but that THE EVERYONE WHO IS BELIEVING.... there is a difference.

Everyone who is believing shall be saved and SO this in no way contradicts or destroys election (we know only the elect do believe, believing is the result of the new birth and the new birth is the result of God's election).

So the point is that God doesn't Love the WHOOOOLEE WORLD........Its not implying that!.......WORLD does not mean every individual of the world that has every existed........ something that is a contradiction of much of the bible!....... aka Romans 9:13 As it is written, “Jacob I loved, but Esau I hated.”

If God loves the whole world, then the whole world would be saved.... duuuuurrrrr....

Anyway enjoy. I hope its a help to you in Christ, i also hope this is an encouragement for Calvinistic-Brothers/Sisters an edification and also a help to Arminians-Brothers/Sisters to see their error in this area and repent.

To add further thought:

Revelation 21:6 And he said to me, “It is done! I am the Alpha and the Omega, the beginning and the end. To the thirsty I will give from the spring of the water of life without payment.

It's true that everyone who freely comes and believes will freely be saved! this is in the bible, Amen, BUT this is not a contradiction of election, it's just that everyone who does freely believe, does so because it's been granted from God.

Embrace the truth in UNITY!

Your also promoting Idolatry as you do this, thats the problem, Jesus was not a white nice guy.

Don't promote the catholic Jesus, its rude to God.

Why do most people automatically assume the term "world" means the same in the Greek as it is in English?

Let me give you an example from Luke 2:1 KJV

And it came to pass in those days, that there went out a decree from Caesar Augustus, that all the world should be taxed.

Young's version goes

And it came to pass in those days, there went forth a decree from Caesar Augustus, that all the world be enrolled

When we read "world", it may not mean exactly what we think it means in the English. It could point towards "all the known Jews in the Roman Empire".

Another example Paul said in Colossians 1:5-6 King James Version (KJV)

5 For the hope which is laid up for you in heaven, whereof ye heard before in the word of the truth of the gospel;

6 Which is come unto you, as it is in all the world; and bringeth forth fruit, as it doth also in you, since the day ye heard of it, and knew the grace of God in truth:

Here Paul is claiming that "all the world" has heard the gospel. Surely he cannot literally mean everyone on Earth, since places in Asia, Africa and America have not been explored yet during his lifetime.

Because as a matter of fact it does. The few examples where it may not mean the whole world of humanity (because it is used metaphorically) does not cancel out its meaning in John 3:16-18 (and many other passages). The concordances and lexicon will show you how the term can be applied in different contexts.

Coming to the BLATANT FALLACY which is in the title of this thread, even a cursory reading of the Gospels will show that since the whole world of humanity is under the curse of sin and death, Christ died for the sins of the whole world (which is also plainly stated in the Bible). Which proves that God loved the whole world of humanity, and demonstrated His love by sending His Son into this world to die for our sins.

There is no edification in calling God a liar and perverting the Gospel with a thread of this kind. Indeed, as Paul says, if any man bring any other Gospel than that which he preached (and which he received directly from Christ) LET HIM BE ACCURSED.

Hello, Nehemiah6, i hope your doing well, hang on a second......are you condemning all Calvinists to eternal hell? surely you have more fear of God in you......... as Calvinist and Arminians believe on the essentials.

Sorry but Galatians 1:8 is talking about people who believe and are preaching that your saved through works! and not grace.

Anyway, hope that helps.

God will judge you for your idle words, i would be more careful in the future with chucking around Anathemas.

A good rule that we all should all use when making a decision to what the doctrine was that Jesus taught is the fact that we do not have the right doctrine unless all of the scriptures harmonize. There is a correct meaning for every inspired scripture and we should try to glean, with the help of the Holy Spirit, the truth of the scripture by comparing scripture to scripture. There is some scriptures that I fail to understand, but that does not negate the fact that we should try to harmonize the scriptures.

The population of the world back in the days the scriptures were pinned was a very much smaller world.

God loves everyone, sinner's included. That is a good thing, Because both you and I and everybody else started out that way. God hates sin, but He loved lost sinners to the point of giving His only begotten Son.

1 Timothy 1
1:12 And I thank Christ Jesus our Lord, who hath enabled me, for that he counted me faithful, putting me into the ministry;
1:13 Who was before a blasphemer, and a persecutor, and injurious: but I obtained mercy, because I did [it] ignorantly in unbelief.
1:14 And the grace of our Lord was exceeding abundant with faith and love which is in Christ Jesus.
1:15 This [is] a faithful saying, and worthy of all acceptation, that Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners; of whom I am chief.
1:16 Howbeit for this cause I obtained mercy, that in me first Jesus Christ might shew forth all longsuffering, for a pattern to them which should hereafter believe on him to life everlasting.
1:17 Now unto the King eternal, immortal, invisible, the only wise God, [be] honour and glory for ever and ever. Amen.

Why not? There’s nothing in these passages that suggest we should not take it literally.

Acts 19:10 And this continued by the space of two years; so that all they which dwelt in Asia heard the word of the Lord Jesus, both Jews and Greeks.

Romans 16
25 Now to him that is of power to stablish you according to my gospel, and the preaching of Jesus Christ, according to the revelation of the mystery, which was kept secret since the world began,
26 But now is made manifest, and by the scriptures of the prophets, according to the commandment of the everlasting God, made known to all nations for the obedience of faith:

Colossians 1
5 For the hope which is laid up for you in heaven, whereof ye heard before in the word of the truth of the gospel;
6 Which is come unto you, as it is in all the world; and bringeth forth fruit, as it doth also in you, since the day ye heard of it, and knew the grace of God in truth:

23 If ye continue in the faith grounded and settled, and be not moved away from the hope of the gospel, which ye have heard, and which was preached to every creature which is under heaven; whereof I Paul am made a minister;

so i need to be elected to be saved...so Jesus died because He knew He would already have an elect who will believe on Him. So...you mean Jesus is saying " Hey people, I died for you all as John 3:16 says but..uhm..i already selected who among you will believe on me...so best of luck upon that because it may or may not be you..and so all of You are just puppets....if I say "believe" then is when you will believe..." You seem to contradict God and make Him look like a host of a puppet show..you make people like me wanna commit suicide because the Lord doesn't seem near by your preaching.

Exactly but Calvinists with their election are saying He didn't die for all..and even if He did , He didn't allow all to believe on Him. Woah.. Woah!
