You are asking me to PROVE something that's NOT there! LOL cmon dude.We know they didn't have any at the return of Christ.
But show us where it clearly says they never had any.

I was thinking that too. But plants don't grow without any roots.Who says it was EVER lit before.
These are the same dudes in the soil parable that sprouted up, BUT had NO ROOT. Jesus is the Root. Holy Spirit is the oil. In BOTH cases these people had NONE.
Believing is not a work that can not justify. So please stop trying to earn your Salvation.
If believing is a work of trying to earn your own salvation, surely all of this is too!Get on your knees, pray to the Lord that you are a sinner in need of His Son, that you believe Jesus IS God in the flesh, and that His Sacrifice, and subsequent resurrection ALONE makes you receive a NEW heart, a NEW creation, and KNOW that you are a born again child of God!
Exactly! You are asking me to PROVE something that's NOT there! LOL cmon dude.
The vessel does not represent the lamp itself. It represents a store of oil available to the lamp, just as a wallet or purse in your analogy is the store of money available to the person and is not the person themselves. And in your analogy (a good one) we know who has this store of money with them and is using it by the expensive and abundant clothes, cars, jewelry, etc. on display on the outside. Good analogy."I'm going shopping at a store, I'm bringing my money WITH me to Wal-Mart." Are store and Wal-Mart, although completely different words, not synonymous in this context?
Here again is the Greek word and it's meaning:
The foolish had NO OIL in their lamps. You CANNOT find any place where it says they had, or EVER had ANY oil.
From Strongs concordance:
2985 lampás – a hand-held "torch" (SOMETIMES MERELY A CLAY VESSEL); a lamp that uses a wick saturated with oil.
SUM PIC XRF DEV STUI was thinking that too. But plants don't grow without any roots.
That parable says the roots did not go deep enough. I think the parable is crafted by Jesus with the Jeremiah 17 passage about the tree planted by the spring of water in mind.
Believing is not a work that can not justify.
My argument is that you have to not stop the believing that began on day one of your salvation. You lose access to the ministry of Christ if you do that. In which case, his 'forever' ministry is no longer accessible to you. You're cut off from it when you are in unbelief. This has nothing to do with working to be and stay justified.
If believing is a work of trying to earn your own salvation, surely all of this is too!
In the analogy the Holy Spirit or Oil, would be the money. No disagreement there. Good analogy.![]()

The foolish ones said to the wise, "Give us some of your oil; our lamps are going out."Of course! The context, right?
Because only a foolish virgin would trim a wick that has never been "lit" in the first place, right? Yer "bordering" on the "ridiculous" now, and shallow roots won't allow for one to "see" the meat of the parable.
The meat being? Don't give yer oil to foolish people. That would be detrimental to both.
Jez one of the "crafty" tactics of the spirit of anti christ.
Is just as simple as that!
For this is what happens to those who do.:
Isaiah 28
20 For the bed is shorter than that a man can stretch himself on it: and the covering narrower than that he can wrap himself in it.
And "that", FORCES one into this predicament!:
Isaiah 28
15 Because ye have said, We have made a covenant with death, and with hell are we at agreement; when the overflowing scourge shall pass through, it shall not come unto us: for we have made lies our refuge, and under falsehood have we hid ourselves:
Perhaps, tis not me that needs get down on my knees, eh "Sherlock?"

Almost 30 translations here. ALL but 3 say "NO ROOT" or "had not ROOT". Note the 3 that say they had root but the root didn't go deep enough. This is EXACTLY why it's vitally important to stay far away from any of these new "living word" type Bibles.
'No root' is a figure of speech. Of course what grew had roots. Plants don't grow without roots.
The point is the word that was planted and that grew had little root. Not enough to stay firmly planted in the soil it had been planted in and draw enough moisture from the ground to survive.
Staying saved, or not, is a matter of whether or not the word remains in a person. And the kind of soil the word is planted in and growing in is what determines the likely hood of the word drying up and being rejected by that soil. Good soil is the soil that perseveres to the end and is saved when Jesus comes back.
Or better said as...Good soil is the soil that perseveres to the end and is saved when Jesus comes back.
The parable says the seed grew.Without Christ (the Root), NO ONE CAN grow.
They burned up because they had NO Root. Without Jesus, a false profession of faith is like those with no Root. Same as the oil. You can’t change these facts. The parable says the seed grew.
What it did not do is continue in the soil.
No really.........plants do not 'spring up' without roots. They burned up because they had NO Root. Without Jesus, a false profession of faith is like those with no Root. Same as the oil. You can’t change these facts.
No to first point, and agreed to no such thing about the oil.No really.........plants do not 'spring up' without roots.
In context 'no root' means no 'deep' root-- no root deep enough to draw sufficient water up to itself when the heat of day came.
And I thought you agreed we can't know from the parable of the virgins if they ever had oil or not, just that they didn't have any when they awoke and tried to light their lamps.
This comment reveals a lot. These discussions should not be seen as some kind of competition. Pretty sad. The true goal of having these discussions should be to help one another. Also, you aren't faring any better than the NOT BY WORKS thread.
