"the prudent took oil in flasks along with their lamps" vs. 4

'Extra' oil, besides what was in the lamp.

They had nothing to 'refill' their lamps.
Now compare that to the Ephesians 5:18 verse I shared--'KEEP being filled with the Holy Spirit'.
WE, are the vessels. You don't get that?

The passage is talking about extra oil outside of their lamps stored in flasks. The foolish ones did not have that.
"took lamps" does not mean they were lighted at that time.

"BUT the wise took oil in their vessels WITH *their* lamps"

[and]

"Then all those virginS arose, and TRIMMED THEIR LAMPS" (I don't think anyone can "TRIM their lamps" with oil already in them, I thought that was included in what is known as "trimming a lamp"--getting it all ready to light, IOW)

[again, for the readers, these "virginS [PLURAL]" are not "the BRIDE/WIFE [SINGULAR]" and this scene pertains to the "wedding FEAST/SUPPER" (i.e. their ENTRANCE into the earthly MK age) [v.10 (see nasb, for example)], NOT "the MARRIAGE" itself!]

They had none because, obviously, besides not having brought extra in another flask, their lamps went out.
I see these "virgins" as the equivalent of those in Daniel 12:1-4,10 ("the WISE [of Israel, per this Dan context]" versus those [of the same context, in v.10, who the text there says "NONE of... shall understand" (whereas "the WISE [of Israel, per context] SHALL understand")… and how these in Dan12:1-4,10 (at the MID-trib CONTEXT, per vv.1,6-7 [i.e. MID-NIGHT (well after "our Rapture" event, mind you), the "IN THE NIGHT" time-period (see Dan7:7, and 1Th5, etc)… parallel with Daniel 12:1-4,10 is the passages such as Hos5:15-6:3, Rom11:15, Ezek37:12-14,20-23, Isa26:16-21, etc … ALL re: Israel in that future, specific, limited TIME PERIOD which will lead UP TO their promised and prophesied EARTHLY Millennial Kingdom commencing upon His "RETURN" to the earth.

The context (Dan12:1-4,10 [mid-trib]) showing what "the WISE" (LIKENED TO a "resurrection") go on TO DO (this is NOT a "bodily/physical resurrection from being formerly physically DEAD" in this passage, like v.13 is), which is, "and they that turn many to righteousness" (that is, DURING THE TRIB yrs, FOLLOWING "our Rapture/THE Departure" of US "IN THE AIR" before "SUNDOWN"/"DARK/DARKNESS / the "IN THE NIGHT" time period)

This is why one must be very careful, when dealing with people, who "seemingly" are in "want/need" of oil. For, in every case? Tis not the "oil of the Spirit" they are seeking!
Tis YOUR oil "he/she/they" are after!

Undisciplined "love", and the "undiscerning" of the word "love", has "crippled, and blinded" many a believer! MANY!

3 They that were foolish took their lamps, and took no oil WITH them: (get it? NO vessels)

4 But the wise took oil IN THEIR VESSELS (oil can) WITH their lamps.
Dude, WE are the vessels!
2 Timothy 2:21 New King James Version (NKJV)
21 Therefore if anyone cleanses himself from the latter, he will be a VESSEL for honor, [a]sanctified and useful for the Master, prepared for every good work.
2 Corinthians 4:7 New King James Version (NKJV)

7 But we have this treasure in earthen VESSELS that the excellence of the power may be of God and not of us.
1 Peter 3:7 New King James Version (NKJV)
A Word to Husbands
7 Husbands, likewise, dwell with them with understanding, giving honor to the wife, as to the weaker VESSEL, and as being heirs together of the grace of life, that your prayers may not be hindered.

The Holy Spirit is indeed represented by the oil. Once a person is born again, He inhabits, and SEALS, the Child of God. AND this "OIL" NEVER runs out!

2 Kings 4-6 New International Version (NIV)
The Widow’s Olive Oil
4 The wife of a man from the company of the prophets cried out to Elisha, “Your servant my husband is dead, and you know that he revered the Lord. But now his creditor is coming to take my two boys as his slaves.”

2 Elisha replied to her, “How can I help you? Tell me, what do you have in your house?”

“Your servant has nothing there at all,” she said, “except a small jar of olive oil.”

3 Elisha said, “Go around and ask all your neighbors for empty jars. Don’t ask for just a few. 4 Then go inside and shut the door behind you and your sons. Pour oil into all the jars, and as each is filled, put it to one side.”

5 She left him and shut the door behind her and her sons. They brought the jars to her and she kept pouring. 6 When all the jars were full, she said to her son, “Bring me another one.”

But he replied, “There is not a jar left.” Then the oil stopped flowing.

IOW, they ain't "the Church WHICH IS HIS BODY" (us; all those saved "in this present age [singular]"); but those who come to faith (or not) FOLLOWING our Rapture and who will exist in the trib yrs (their ENTRANCE or NOT into the promised and prophesied EARTHLY Millennial Kingdom, as "still-living" persons upon His "RETURN" to the earth; i.e. "the wedding FEAST/SUPPER" not "the MARRIAGE" itself [NO "BRIDE" is in this Matt25:1-13 CONTEXT, IOW... THESE are the "PLURAL VIRGINS" instead... completely distinct issue!])

Why don't you just stop pointing fingers at others, and focus on your own spiritual welfare? God will deal with everyone else.

BTW you might also want to learn how to use paragraphs for posting.
RebuildJesussChurch's comment below is spot on. Interesting, even comical that your response is to point out improper paragraph structure.

I was just in Rev. 3 and see how they are just as is recorded in v.17: "You say, 'I am rich; I have acquired wealth and do not need a thing.' But you do not realize that you are wretched, pitiful, poor blind and naked." That was what I said growing up too. And what does Jesus say to the churches: I know your deeds. Through these demonic doctrines and human tradition so much of God's Word no longer applies to the "believer".

The "real" Jesus is "the source of eternal salvation to all who obey Him", but the multitude of such Scriptures as that that no longer apply to them under doctrines of demons is endless - talk about taking away from the Word of God. I wish I could be lazy as the Laodiceans! No, I have to abide in Jesus' love. I address as Father the One who impartially judges according to each ones work so I have to conduct myself in fear during my sojourning here on Earth knowing the massive price paid for me. Not so with these modern "believers". We have to tremble at His Word as they get to dismiss it. We have to obey His voice, and He will be our God and we will be His people and as sheep of Jesus Christ walk only in the Way He commands us so that it goes well with us. They have no such concerns. All such Scripture us not useful for training in righteousness so that they may be perfect, thoroughly furnished for every good work. Work?! I know your deeds, Jesus said to the churches. I'll show you my faith by what I do. Real faith produces works and the Shepherd leads us where to go - we must obey His voice. 300 times the NT calls Him Lord, 25 or so times Savior. Everyone wants Savior! I don't want to lean on my own understanding. I was a terrible "lord". Thank you Lord Jesus for Your leadership!

We are the lamps that are to be filled with oil.
Wise people make sure the lamp of the body is always filled with the oil of the Holy Spirit and prepared to meet the Lord at his return. Those who are not prepared are turned away. It's too late to become prepared then.

The vessel full of (extra) oil for the lamp signifies the continual infilling of the Holy Spirit.

"the wise took oil in their vessels WITH their lamps." vs. 4

Our bodies are the lamps themselves, not the vessels containing extra oil to keep the lamp amply supplied and burning.

The lamp is SYNONYMOUS with the vessel.

This from Strongs:
2985 lampás – a hand-held "torch" (SOMETIMES MERELY A CLAY VESSEL); a lamp that uses a wick saturated with oil.

Wise virgins still have the supply of the Holy Spirit still available to them. Unwise virgins do not.

When we all awake from our slumber of death at the return of Christ the wise and the unwise virgins will be revealed.

That's us.
We're not the supply of the Holy Spirit, but the lamp in which it burns giving it's light to all. "This little light of mine..."

Yup. But it doesn't change the fact of the argument that the 5 had NO oil. Which means they did NOT have any Holy Spirit. Which means their tanks didn't just run out of Holy Spirit. Which means they were NEVER saved to begin with. Which means those who want to burn their wicks, with NO OIL, to work their way to heaven, better stop slumbering and get that OIL NOW!

Unless of course, the "giver of the oil" sees that His "oil", is being "exploited, squandered, wasted", whereas the "supply" gets cut off!
Unbeknownst to the vessel!...Dude!
Romans 11

19 Thou wilt say then, The branches were broken off, that I might be grafted in.
20 Well; because of unbelief they were broken off, and thou standest by faith. Be not highminded, but fear:
21 For if God spared not the natural branches, take heed lest he also spare not thee.
22 Behold therefore the goodness and severity of God: on them which fell, severity; but toward thee, goodness, if thou continue in his goodness: otherwise thou also shalt be cut off.

And herein, lies the problem!
Every believer LOVES the goodness of God. To the point they become blind to the SEVERITY of God!

“A god who is all love, all grace, all mercy, no sovereignty, no justice, no holiness, and no wrath is an idol.”

The lamp that couldn't stay lit at the return of Jesus can mean, either, it ran out of oil, or it never had it to begin with. I think the parable is carefully crafted that way.

The 'vessel', from where the store of oil to be burned in the lamp comes from, could be the workers you cited in the Timothy passage. The unwise virgins without the vessels of oil accompanying their lamps may signify the unwise casting away of the prophets and teachers through whom the filling of the Holy Spirit comes (through their teaching, etc.). They did not listen to them and in effect cast them away, the result being they have no oil to keep their lamps burning. And as a result, they are not saved when Jesus returns.
