We've read it several times. John Bunyan the author wrote most of it in prison if not all of it. We've read both parts to our children, the unabridged version. They were almost always completely interested and attentive. Huge John Bunyan fan.

We got the dvd for our 9 year old daughter and will give it to her on Thanksgiving to watch with the family and grandchildren.

He was "some sort" of Baptist, by the way. ;)

Has anyone read Little Pilgrim's Progress by Helen L. Taylor? I read it when homeschooling.

So, you want nothing less than a quote wherein John Bunnion stated "I am a Baptist." Right?
That would help as people are all over the map trying to claim him as their own. The best I can figure out is that he was an Independent with a low view of the State Church.

It sounds like the author is saying, as a historian (the author) would categorize Bunyan as a Baptist, but as a theologian, no, not a Baptist. He says the difference is between ’descriptive’ and ’prescriptive’.
To me, I really couldn’t grasp truly what he was saying. Regardless his affiliation, he was a solid preacher, imo. Wonderful books, too.

A well written and wonderfully powerful story - One of the first books I read as a young believer and have probably read it 2-3 times since. Never watched the movie, but I am not sure I want to as I am sure it makes havoc of the book! :)

If I recall, the movie wasn't that bad, at least they didn't 'Disney-ize' it. LOL
