Revelation 22:14
Blessed are those who wash their robes, so that they may have the right to the tree of life and may enter the city by its gates.
Revelation 22:14 does not have the words "
do his commandments" in the
text.
Are you aware of that?
Galatians 3:1-2
O foolish Galatians, who hath bewitched you, that ye should not obey the truth, before whose eyes Jesus Christ hath been evidently set forth, crucified among you?
2This only would I learn of you,
Received ye the Spirit by the works of the law, or by the hearing of faith?
But I think I like the interlinear even better.
Blessed {are} those washing the robes of them that will be the right of them to the tree of life and by the gates they shall enter into the city.
No, I was not aware of that.
Thank you.
I love stuff like this . Sorry its taken me so long to get back but it was worth the long ponder.
Must have make you think
Ezekiel 40:44 And without the inner gate were the chambers of the singers in the inner court, which was at the side of the north gate; and their prospect was toward the south: one at the side of the east gate having the prospect toward the north.
Ezekiel 40:45 And he said unto me,
This chamber, whose prospect is toward the south, is for the priests, the keepers of the charge of the house.
Ezekiel 40:46 And the
chamber whose prospect is toward the north is for the priests, the keepers of the charge of the altar these are the sons of Zadok among the sons of Levi, which come near to the LORD to minister unto him.
Ezekiel 40:47 So he measured the court, an hundred cubits long, and an hundred cubits broad, foursquare; and the altar that was before the house.
Ezekiel 40:48 And he brought me
to the porch of the house, and measured each post of the porch, five cubits on this side, and five cubits on that side: and the breadth of the gate was three cubits on this side, and three cubits on that side.
Ezekiel 40:49 The length of the porch was twenty cubits, and the breadth eleven cubits, and he brought me by the steps whereby they went up to it: and there were pillars by the posts, one on this side, and another on that side.
I did go back and read the chapter and have been pondering it and I can understand why they chose to translate it that way on one level but it does lose a lot when put into context of the Millennium. But what a perfect verse for beginning and deeper at the same time. Thank you again, really truly honestly. I think it had to do with
Revelation 22:7 Behold, I come quickly: blessed is he that keepeth the sayings of the prophecy of this book.
Revelation 22:8 And I John saw these things, and heard them. And when I had heard and seen, I fell down to worship before the feet of the angel which shewed me these things.
Revelation 22:9 Then saith he unto me, See thou do it not: for I am thy fellowservant, and of thy brethren the prophets, and of them which keep the sayings of this book: worship God.
Anyway,
Do you follow the NT commandments?
We receive the Spirit by faith. Not by works of the law. Agreed. I didn't even know there were other laws besides the 10 commandments for a embarrassing long time, didn't really see the need for the OT back then either. It would seem I went backwards though it (doesn't feel that way now though). I loved God and felt His love when I only knew Him through the Spirit. But in a moment one day, that all changed, and I quickly came to realize, I didn't have a clue who God truly was or how deep His love went.
But, does that change anything about doing works, or keeping all the commands/laws of the NT? I always knew I was saved and never once (until a couple months ago) did it cross my mind that "the works" I was doing in the name of the Lord had anything to do with my salvation. (never gonna change, apparently a good thing around here)
Hebrews 4:12 For the word of God is quick, and powerful, and sharper than any twoedged sword, piercing even to the dividing asunder of soul and spirit, and of the joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart.
God will know our intent. God will JUDGE that intent or lack of when studying the law of Moses and following it in the spirit of it, Christ. But as I say, it is impossible to be under, bound, yoked, etc. to something that was rendered null and void 2000 or so years ago by the Life, death, and Life of Christ, bringing in the New.
