Hey DeighAnn
Here is something you will not like...
Resting in what Christ has already done is our spiritual warfare.
Resting in what Christ has already done is our obedience of faith.
Resting in what Christ has already done is our faith in action.
Jesus is our
true Sabbath rest.
Jesus is our true Sabbath rest, I do agree. And I rest in Christ always. His burden is light, light, light, in Him I do delight. I don't know what "spiritual warfare he has done for you but as for me He has given me warnings, not as to what He is going to do for me
but what I need to be watching for and how I need to be preparing. I am going to follow those directions and as told
"put on the full gospel armor to withstand the fiery darts of Satan".
Matthew 11:28 Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.
Matthew 11:29 Take my yoke upon you, and learn of me; for I am meek and lowly in heart: and ye shall find rest unto your souls.
Matthew 11:30 For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light.
I have never "laboured" under the law, and have never been burdened by carrying around sin, and I receive that rest through His Sacrifice of infinite value. I do thank the Lord for that gift always. His yoke does rest upon me light and easy, and I love it.
Hebrews 4:8 For if Jesus had given them rest, then would he not afterward have spoken of another day.
Hebrews 4:9
There remaineth therefore a rest to the people of God.
Hebrews 4:10 For he that is entered into his rest, he also hath ceased from his own works, as God did from his.
Hebrews 4:11
Let us labour therefore to enter into that rest, lest any man fall after the same example of unbelief.
Hebrews 4:12 For the word of God is quick, and powerful, and sharper than any twoedged sword, piercing even to the dividing asunder of soul and spirit, and of the joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart.
Yes, I am labouring to enter into that rest also but as he said that is "of another day". For I remain alive in the flesh
.
Jeremiah 6:16 Thus saith the LORD, Stand ye in the ways, and see, and ask for the old paths, where is the good way, and
walk therein, and ye shall find rest for your souls. But they said, We will not walk therein.
And I do walk in the good way, and I do find rest for my soul. But most of all when I DIE
Revelation 14:13 And I heard a voice from heaven saying unto me, Write, Blessed are the dead which die in the Lord from henceforth: Yea, saith the Spirit, that they may rest from their labours; and their works do follow them.
Romans 10:13 For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.
Romans 10:14 How then shall they call on him in whom they have not believed? and how shall they believe in him of whom they have not heard? and how shall they hear without a preacher?
Romans 10:15 And how shall they preach, except they be sent? as it is written, How beautiful are the feet of them that preach the gospel of peace, and bring glad tidings of good things!
Romans 10:16 But they have not all obeyed the gospel. For Esaias saith, Lord, who hath believed our report?
Romans 10:17 So then faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.
And as for me and the Word
2 Timothy 2:15 Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.
This is work. Don't get me wrong it is a work I love more than anything else. Period. I myself, did not receive the word through a "supernatural" event. Clarification in the Word yes, but the rest of it is all study. Seeking and being led by the Spirit. I would know nothing more than when I started if I wasn't moved to action, and that way I have been "in much".
So our ideas of the "rest" we receive are very different, I guess. If you believe you could through scripture bring in more "light" on the subject, I will listen. I have much to learn. Oh, how people love to hear that and try and turn it into I am unlearned or unskilled in the Word of the Lord but I assure you, I know enough to know I know almost nothing of Gods wisdom and knowledge.
The only reason I do not like the way you see "rest" is it promotes a lack of action or responsibility on our parts. And as you may have heard me say before
If the Holy Spirit did everything for Christians, and taught us all things, and we had no part in it, there would never be a single disagreement and we would already all be as one in Christ. No divisions. No interpretations that went against others, and there would be no more sin, no more need for repentance, no more need to ask for forgiveness, no need to be tested, no need to be corrected, and all we did was rest in what Christ has done, shoot, there would have been no need to give us free will at all. Just place a bunch of souls in a bunch of flesh and tell them how to act perfectly and bam, the only thing that would be lacking would be the TRUE LOVE you can only receive from a soul when it is their choice, their feeling, their desire.
