Just question for ourselves, how often do you feel like you arent heard and that nobody listens or cares about what you think?

Your view is valid and important, but how often is it passed over, or dismissed because in a group its the loudest person or majority who over rides everyone else.

Your view may be positive and life changing, yet, how often does the negative thoughts and statements of everyone else prevail. And it gets drowned out in the noise.

Perhaps you are simply telling the truth but nobody wants to hear and others tell you to keep quiet and shut up.

What do you do then?
Are there any scriptures about this or should we all go preaching on the housetops and maybe someone, somewhere will be listening? Was this how John the Baptist felt, as a voice crying in the wilderness? Is anybody listening?

Hello @Lanolin, as Christians, we are to be the Lord's obedient witnesses .. e.g. Acts 1:8; Romans 10:13-15, 17; 1 Peter 3:15, but the results of our witnessing is all in His hands. Quite frankly, we do not have the power needed to change the hearts of men/women and make it possible for them hear the words of the Gospel (as anything else than foolishness) .. 1 Corinthians 1:18, 2:14, only God can do that .. e.g. Ezekiel 36:26-27; John 3:3; 2 Corinthians 5:17; Ephesians 2:4-5.

Perhaps the Lord's instructions to the seventy are worth considering here too .. Luke 10:1-16?

p.s. - as far as John the Baptist goes, he didn't seem to have a problem with people not listening to him, but he sure seemed surprised at some of the people who were .. Matthew 3:4-7.

I dont think anybody listens to me normally but am pleasantly surprised when someone actually does and I dont have to talk louder because I dont have a loud voice.

I wonder if Paul had a loud voice and all the evangelists had loud voices so that people could hear them preaching in the days before microphones.

Personally I don't mind or care much if my voice is heard or not - if it's heard, good; if not, that's fine too.

The premise that my view is 'valid and important' needs to be self-scrutinized time to time because (1) it may not be valid or important, and/or (2) perhaps that's why your voice is not being heard or being ignored.

Again, if positive and life changing, it will be heard - people generally will listen something that is positive and life changing. If it gets drowned out in the noise, perhaps it wasn't really positive or life changing in the first place.

I don't think there's much value/weight on if you are being told to keep it shut - if you truly believe what you are telling is the truth, then keep telling it regardless whether you are being heard or not.

I believe one of most powerful "preaching" is your own life - preaching with your mouth one thing yet your life does not reflect what you preach, then it loses credibility. See if your life aligns with what you preach because people, especially non-believers to catch if you are real or fake.

There are plenty of views and opinions out there that are petty, ignorant, foolish, downright wrong, and / or sometimes intentionally manipulative. People get things wrong and people lie intentionally.

I'm a bit more open to the idea that a sincere person can learn something from everyone's view or opinion, but I think the much more important question is who you spend time listening to and how you decide who to listen to in the first place. One of the great dangers of the modern age is that all people can find someone to reinforce whatever wacky views they have and so will have a much harder time moving past incorrect views to truth.

My view, of course, is always valid and important because I'm always right (except when I'm wrong).

Haha true everyone thinks they are right in their own eyes. But I think some people know in themselves when they are just mouthing off and bluffing. Im not the kind of person who will talk just for the sake of talking and then not let anyone else have their say.

The most improtant thing is to listen to God first, because when you do He gives you the words to say. I have known this whenever He wanted me to get up in church and share (which is not often) its always been He will nudge me because I actually dont like speaking in public.

well said! If God puts it out there through us,it isn't our business when ,who or how it is accomplished! Just be yielding unto the Holy Spirit for He will give us what to say when it is appropriate!

Agreed there are " many" that think their way is right! This causes others to stumble! We must be fully "armored" at all times,and walk in wisdom through the Holy Spirit!

I just let the impulsive talkers talk till they burn themselves out with dead content. Usually those types are out for validation and need to constantly talk to stay relevant, often times what they have to say isn't very valuable to other people. Some people are like that though, to where they need to post on things or butt into conversations or even hijack them to say "here i am, look at me". Online sometimes a useful comment gets lost in a sea of people trying to validate themselves.. It does no good to get angry with them about it, that is what they need to do. I just say let them do it, but i never stay subscribed to it, a 10th of a second is my limit for the attention i spend on it. Just as long as i say what i needed to say is all that matters. There are times to entertain the ego, but not in every conversation, and some just demand it in all conversation.

As for me, despite looking fierce i am soft spoken, rarely say much, and say things just once, and i leave it at that. If people don't listen, it is what it is. I did what i felt i needed to do. There is no point in trying to force myself or my words, or worrying about everyone else's responses or lack there of.

Listen to yourself. John the Baptist. Had The most important man in this life listen to him. this is all that matters... Who are they...

Thats true Jesus got baptised by him. Thats so important. John even said its Jesus who should be the one baptising him but Jesus delegated John to be his mouthpiece and forerunner.

Even Moses wasnt too sure that people would listen to him, but God gave him Aaron and the words to say. And its true that not everyone listened to Moses either...but he was chosen by God to face Pharoah. God could have picked the loudest or most articulate, but He chose a man who stammered!

One thing i came to learn about sharing the Gospel is that no matter how eloquent and well argued your points are those who hate the Word of God or who think the way of salvation is foolishness will never be won over.. When i first became a Christian i was like a kid with a new shiny toy i wanted to share it with everyone and i thought all i need to do is just explain it clearly enough and thousands of people would leap to accept this Awesome,, and to me New revelation..

But soon enough i found out that there are some people ( sadly most people it seems to me ) who for whatever reason are not open to the Amazing loving gift of grace of the LORD Jesus Christ.. I have come to accept that those who God foreknows will love His Way of salvation will embrace it with joy when they hear it.. I spend my time hoping to meet these future brothers and sisters in Jesus through my life.. Some days it seems like i am looking for a rose in the middle of the Sahara desert. But i keep putting one foot in front of another in the hope of finding one or two during my journey..

So those who are destined to listen will be listening when we share the good news of the Gospel of our LORD Jesus Chirst.

When i first became a Christian i was like a kid with a new shiny toy i wanted to share it with everyone and i thought all i need to do is just explain it clearly enough and thousands of people would leap to accept this Awesome,, and to me New revelation..

But soon enough i found out that there are some people ( sadly most people it seems to me ) who for whatever reason are not open to the Amazing loving gift of grace of the LORD Jesus Christ.. I have come to accept that those who God foreknows will love His Way of salvation will embrace it with joy when they hear it.. I was like that too when I first got saved. Then I found out the meaning of casting pearls before swine and giving what is holy to the dogs...those experiences made me a bit less zealous shall we say!

Jesus said those who have ears will hear..so not everyone is actually attuned.

I think it used to bother me a lot and it still does sometimes like why would you refuse the greatest gift of all, are you nuts?! Dont want eternal life, well ok then.

But every heart needs to be prepared. In the meantime though if people arent listening I just write my thoughts down on that and it helps ME clarify them, and sometimes the only one whos reading them and listening to them is God. And thats fine, I dont need a huge audience.

I know if you told all this to someone whos paid to listen, like a psychiatrist, they wouldnt really get it anyway. The funny thing was one time I was in therapy and I had this epiphany and said i dont know why I am talking to you I can just talk to God ..for free. And I never went back lol.

Good for you Life is hard enough trying to make ends meet without throwing money away at psychiatrists.. Lucky we have LORD who has no need for money

You have found the roses in the desert. What you don't understand is that you have plucked them and have been pricked by their thorns. Maybe the petals have fallen to the ground and have planted seeds. And I hope this does'nt only hold true with the bible, but everyone we teach at work and every aspect of life...
