I don't see any problem with recording ones dreams.. I would however advise against people assuming that all their dreams are important messages from God.. While God does send messages to people in their dreams, most dreams i believe are self made..
I once had my grandfather mention vain imaginations (referring to scripture) when I related an odd dream I had...and I usually had them at their house for some reason. I thought on it a while because he did not entertain me and harshed my "dream high" but over the years I have considered what he said and I have come to believe that it certainly occurs. Specifically in that particular dream. I don't think it was just me and it was nonsensical. So yes, certainly.
and I would be incredibly leery
@blueluna5 what you are describing can easily fall into dabbling if you aren't girding and spending time
rooted in the word. Every believer should at least be on the fence about flight and anything that mirrors what is in films these days. Fantasy films are NOT alright, there are things in them that shouldn't have ever been shown. For profit no less. Much like porn.
It is not harmless. There are real dangers to letting your imagination run wild and the enemy is certainly able to deceive in dreams.
I'm not saying that this applies to dreams (I do not know) only that it occurred. 1 Kings 22:20-22.
I realize others believe the OT does not apply to dreams today but I wouldn't have realized occultic themes without it and I thank the Lord for it. I definitely wouldn't have understood that you can see things by your own spirit were it not for reading it in Ezekiel.
It added a third category for me. Myself that had somehow been beyond my grasp until this year and I felt strongly led to read Ezekiel and I was a bit stubborn about it but I finally did
It is certainly possible that the OT does not apply in precisely the same way (unless you consider the trickle vs torrent concept) but I find it odd that prophecy gifts would be mentioned in the NT without any sort of relevancy. Quite a leap in fact.
You must also consider why Balaam is mentioned so many times in the NT. I'm not suggesting that his error has anything to do with how the Lord worked through him in regard to Balak, but it bears further consideration.
