You know, most people dont learn maths so they can learn how to make bombs.

You know its illegal to teach children how to make bombs anyway. Even at unviersities its not going to be taught. Most people want to teach useful things, that they will use in life not useless things like how to kill each other.

We had a unit for the whole schoo,l about space and the unvierse. Teachers could take this in any direction they chose but the thing is for children to learn ways of seeing the universe. They learned what scinetists do and how the measure things etc and also what the ancients believe and used the stars and planets for.

Well Im going with the ancients who actually used the stars and planets as navigational tools for times and seasons and that was useful, for life on earth rather than a useless space race to see just who could get to the moon first. Well done america, tooks some great photos, but what has moon exploration ever really done for humanity?

Ok I will stop posting for now as theres a lot to process.
Perhaps in the uS to boycott public schools and set up your own is the right thing to do rather than actually work to reform things. But that just means poorer children are missing out, because not everyone is in a position to go private or homeschool.

If you have to march then march. Teachers strike here for better pay. Its unprofessional, but the system is kinda munted here too. There were court cases over Bibles in schools but thankfully they got thrown out.

False premise you should read what you written . Every country has enemies? I beg to differ. You need to face the real enemy and thats satan not nations.

Nations of every tribe and tongue are in revelation following the king of Kings.
Which country doesn't have a army then? Police? Or border security?

What are you talking about? The whole bomb thing was related to another person's question that was about the military.

It seems a lot of christian families homeschool I dont really know any secular parents that do it.
More and more parents are dropping their preschoolers into daycare though, you can do that from six months old...
:(
no, not in the U.S.... (at least where I'm at, and I'm pretty sure it is this way across all U.S, but not 100% sure....)
(and I worked in child care/day care before my own came along)
it is NOT 6 months.........
we had babies as little as 6 WEEKS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
And the mamas go back to work and leave their babies in the care and comfort of others (who are not family) for hours on end and wonder WHY the babies don't bond to them:unsure:

the sad thing was, (is...) the girls working in those rooms were literally girls (like fresh outta high school). All they had to do was take a course or 2 (which here was done by work book in mail or online) to be "certified" for that age group!!!! NO EXPERIENCE (unless it was the one or 2 who had little siblings)
SCARY!!!!

Why dont they just send their children to christians schools then? Or dont they have any in america. Surely they could just make christian schools free. It seems absurd that the only christians schools would be super expensive.

Private schools of any type can be expensive although christian schools do tend to be less expensive than other private schools. For many families the $200 to $500 a month tuition (per child) is beyond their budget. In regards to "making Christian schools free", land, buildings, teachers, and support staff all cost money.
When looking at both standardized college entrance exam scores, and national education related competitions (science, writing, spelling bees) invariably a disproportionate number of home school kids are taking top awards because they are getting a better education than they would even in private school.

I've had the discussion with numerous home school naysayers over the years but the numbers don't lie. When a home school teacher (Mom) has between two and six students (versus an average of 15 to 20 students per class in private schools and 30 plus students per class in public schools) she can give each student more one on one time and custom tailor class time to each child's needs in a manner that neither private or public schools can. Likewise, in home schooling, education tends to extend well beyond the "walls" of the classroom.

Interesting but then if homeschool, then why not home churches. The reality is that Some parents just dont have the resources to homeschool or dont know about the options.

The also want their child to learn a language they dont have the skill to teach because they dont actually speak it themselves.

Ive always wondered why some christians seem so opposed to speaking in tongues when its Gods gift. But when coming across those teaching other unknown tongues people make a fuss too. And forbid others from learning them. Its like children ARE going to be exposed to other children speaking other langauges do you not want them to learn.

When i was teaching bible I thought I wouldnt need to be doing this if all the parents were teaching Bible to their own children. This is why, in public schools christian teachers have this ministry. Do you only care for your own children or do you have a wider vision.

Im not opposed to homeschool but cant imagine my mum or dad teaching me anything. My mum would probably yell at me, but perhaps I would learn some chinese, I dont know how to read any because we had NO chinese books in the house. Only just now mum. Has learned you can go to the library and borrow. if your parents arent literate how could they have homeschooled you? My granparents couldnt even read or write english. Other languages arent recongnised in qualifications as everything is taught in english.

But thing is she does complain why didnt you learn to cook, well if I had stayed home i stead of going to school and she actully took the time to teach me then maybe i would have learned to be an expert cook. Some parents just dont have it in them to teach their children unfortuantely. But its good to have that option now because what child wants to stay home than go to school. Unkess their home is abusive, and sad thing is that in some homes the child is actually not safe. Children do get kicked out of the nest very early.

Why because the parents want their own life and arent prepared to look after them. Even rich parents do this, or they just hire a nanny or governess in the old days. For girls, education was woeful as they werent challenged to learn the things boys learned, some parents didnt expect girls to learn anything and so many grew up without basic skills to manage anything. If you parent is not a scientist or doctor, how can you teach them what you never learned, if your child shows a gift or potential for it? What about music or dance? They cant learn something you as a parent hadnt learned. This is why we have a multitude of teachers not just one person, even if its the parent teaching everything.

Perhaps now with online resources its better, but not everything you can learn online. And you also need a good library or regular access to one. You cant just rely on a screen. Homeschool might be for children in rural areas but can you imagine those in the city cooped up in their tiny apartments all day stuck with their parents and no means of escape lol. Good if your parents are into teaching, not good if your parents only want you to learn certain things they were good at. What if you want to learn something else you parent has never experienced and they DONT want you to learn it. Why should it be solely on the mum what about grandparents? Aunties and uncles? Do dads not homsechool?

Sorry...but what has China got to do with anything? Why are you trying to get ahead of China? What did China ever do to you? They have billions of people. They always going to be ahead of everyone its just basic demographics. Im chinese descent, so, do I not count as 'our children'?
In the market place, especially manufacturing. We are going to wind up a second tier nation If we don't start making the products we are buying. Or making them better.

It's not racial at all I have nothing against Asian Americans, African Americans, or any other Americans.

In the old days I was reading once you got out of highschool you and maybe showed you were mature enough you could then start teaching it. Like Laura Ingalls wilder did. You just assigned a set text and then supervised a one room classroom. Thats how it was in pioneer days. The main task was keeping that schoolhouse warm in winter.

Well that sounds like Moms have to stay at home. Or on the other hand it would cost my daughter $600-1500 a month to send her kids to christian school. She earns $13 AN HOUR.

But its your own fault because your manufacturer were outsourcing manufacturing because China has the numbers in their workforce who can do it cheaper. And those manufacturers want it for the lowest price.

You also buy a lot of junk you dont need to be honest. The chinese are surprised that you would buy so much useless stuff.

People seems to look down on arts and crafts as this isnt being taught anymore in favour of the more measurable stuff like maths, english etc. ive always wondered why, but thats why theres vocational and then acadmic learning and children often get boxed into one or the other when they havent even figured out what they want to be yet as they are still learning.

Skilled trades seemed totally dropped because you could get slave labour to make it for you. Slavery just moved overseas...the people who make your jeans, thats just what they do all day. And they rip them up on prupose because for some strange reason americans like wearing ripped up jeans.

Single motherhood has grown so common in America that today 80 percent of single-parent families are headed by single mothers — nearly a third of those live in poverty. About 4 out 10 children were born to unwed mothers. Nearly two-thirds were born to mothers under the age of 30.

Today 1 in 4 children under the age of 18 — a total of about 16.4 million — are being raised without a father.

That dosn't make it right, it's just the facts.

I don't think that home schooling is possible without a "stay at home" parent. Within the church that I go to there are a decent number of families that home school and all of them have stay at home moms.

Well I did for a couple of years. But Single fathers that home school are rare. I don't expect others to do it just because I did.

Today 1 in 4 children under the age of 18 — a total of about 16.4 million — are being raised without a father.

And people wonder why our society is coming apart at the seams.........

Statistically, fatherless children (both male and female) are exponentially more likely that their peers with fathers to
A) grow up in poverty
B) drop out of school (thus perpetuating poverty into the next generation)
C) have drug and alcohol addictions
D) end up in prison
and of course fatherless girls are considerably more likely to become teen mothers raising the next generation of fatherless children.
