With all these different names hell, Hades, sheol, Gehenna, abyss, lake of fire... I am not sure how to sort it all out...
Cherie, I’m sorry. I did a typo in my reply sheol is the Hebrew word for the greek word HADES. I typed too hastily.
Sheol is same as Hades
Gehenna same as lake of fire

Tartarus is in second peter 2:4, where God sent the sinning angels
Sheol is same as Hades, not Gehenna. I mistyped before. Sorry
Peter uses it in 2 Peter 2:4. Apostles used words that would be familar to their readers, but redefined them. Hades is also in Greek myth

Psa_63:9 But those that seek my soul, to destroy it, shall go into the lower parts of the earth.
The wicked go to the heart of the earth.

Conclusion:
- Hell is still in operation, wicked people are going there today.
- Lazarus was leaning on Abraham's chest and that's why "scholars" Abraham's bosom is a place. Abraham's bosom as a place does not exist.
- Abraham and Lazarus was in eye shot and ear shot of the rich man in hell. Abraham and Lazarus were in hell but not in torment or punishment. A chasm separated the two groups.
- Jesus went to hell and ministered to the souls that sinned before the flood.
- Those who accepted the gospel were release from hell.
- Hell is tossed in the lake a fire after all of the wicked have died at the end of time.
See, it supports my reasoning THE LORD DOES NOT CHANGE. BELIEVER's human spirit always GOES TO HEAVEN, O.T. and N.T.; while the Unrighteous human spirit always goes to Hades. Physical DEATH Body goes to the grave. IF HE DESCENDED SPIRITUALLY IT WAS ONLY TO PROCLAIM THE VICTORY OVER THE DEMONS IN THE PIT, THAT TRIED TO POLLUTE THE ENTIRE HUMAN RACE SO THAT MESSIAH COULD NOT COME FROM THE HUMAN RACE.
Now HOW can a person in Hades, see all the way to HEAVEN? You are forgetting it is not with these PHYSICAL EYES. Who knows how far you can see with spiritual EYES? Apparently as Far as GOD Wants you to SEE and HEAR What HE wants you to HEAR. He said he saw seeth Abraham afar off and HE went on to say there is a GREAT GULF FIXED between Abraham and the Rich Man in HADES.

Jesus went to hell/hades and PREACHED to the SPIRITS in hell. These were those who died during the time of Noah. I would assume that they were with Abraham and Lazarus since they weren't condemned for this sins until Christ came and preached the gospel to them and they made their decisions.
