[Paul had said] "And I once was alive apart from Law; but the commandment having come, [the] sin revived, and I died" Romans 7:9
Is that a metaphor or did Paul literally die?
and
was it the law that caused death
or
sin that caused death?

How does one "work" the law? Is it by the "work" or by the "law"Working at the law isn't spiritual.
It is actually quite carnal.
Only those who attempt to justify their work at the law try to convince others that its spiritual.
I know this wasn't written to me but I want to build upon it with the word, as I have heard some of these things from people in the world, telling me to follow some indistinct teaching, why would I when I can follow Jesus?
1 John 1:8-10, "If we say that we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us. If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. If we say that we have not sinned, we make Him a liar, and His Word is not in us."
Acts 3:19-20, " 19 Repent therefore, and turn back, that your sins may be blotted out, 20 that times of refreshing may come from the presence of the Lord, and that he may send the Christ appointed for you, Jesus,
Deuteronomy 6:24-25, " 24 And the LORD commanded us to do all these statutes, to fear the LORD our God, for our good always, that he might preserve us alive, as we are this day. 25 And it will be righteousness for us, if we are careful to do all this commandment before the LORD our God, as he has commanded us.’
1 John 3:7, "Little children, let no man deceive you; he who practices righteousness is righteous, just as He is righteous."
Revelation 22:14-16, " 14 Blessed [are] they that do his commandments, that they may have right to the tree of life, and may enter in through the gates into the city. 15 For without [are] dogs, and sorcerers, and whoremongers, and murderers, and idolaters, and whosoever loveth and maketh a lie. 16 I Jesus have sent mine angel to testify unto you these things in the churches. I am the root and the offspring of David, [and] the bright and morning star.
John 14:21, “he who possesses My commands and guards them, it is he who loves Me. And he who loves Me shall be loved by My Father, and I shall love him and manifest Myself to him.”
John 5:28-30, " 28 Do not marvel at this, for an hour is coming when all who are in the tombs will hear his voice 29 and come out, those who have done good to the resurrection of life, and those who have done evil to the resurrection of judgment. 30 “I can do nothing on my own. As I hear, I judge, and my judgment is just, because I seek not my own will but the will of him who sent me.
Isaiah 8:20-21, " 20 To the teaching and to the testimony! If they will not speak according to this word, it is because they have no dawn. 21 They will pass through the land, greatly distressed and hungry. And when they are hungry, they will be enraged and will speak contemptuously against their king and their God, and turn their faces upward."
satan definitely hates Gods law.
Isaiah 5:20, " 20 Woe to those who call evil good and good evil, who put darkness for light and light for darkness, who put bitter for sweet and sweet for bitter! "
I think we need hold fast to Jesus, abide in Him according to what He says!
John 15:1-10, " 1 “I am the true vine, and my Father is the vinedresser. 2 Every branch in me that does not bear fruit he takes away, and every branch that does bear fruit he prunes, that it may bear more fruit. 3 Already you are clean because of the word that I have spoken to you. 4 Abide in me, and I in you. As the branch cannot bear fruit by itself, unless it abides in the vine, neither can you, unless you abide in me. 5 I am the vine; you are the branches. Whoever abides in me and I in him, he it is that bears much fruit, for apart from me you can do nothing. 6 If anyone does not abide in me he is thrown away like a branch and withers; and the branches are gathered, thrown into the fire, and burned. 7 If you abide in me, and my words abide in you, ask whatever you wish, and it will be done for you. 8 By this my Father is glorified, that you bear much fruit and so prove to be my disciples. 9 As the Father has loved me, so have I loved you. Abide in my love. 10 If you keep my commandments, you will abide in my love, just as I have kept my Father's commandments and abide in his love.
satan definitely hates Gods law.
Sin is not imputed when there is no law.
So it’s the law that came in first, before sin could happen, then death came in.
YOU ROCK. You can quote, reply, even disagree anytime. You have my ear.
Actually Satan loves the law because it strengthens sin. (1 Cor 15:56). What he hates is grace.
He knows that, because of our flesh, anytime we try to keep the law, sin ultimately emerges.
It was how he tempted Eve, and then Adam subsequently, with disobeying God, with the Law. So Satan definitely love the Law. Without the law, there will be no sin imputed to us.
Because you appear like a few others here, to say we learn obdince by the law (if this is not true forgive me)
Thats not true
We learn our guilt and the way to redemption through the law, the schoolmaster
We learn obedience through christ.
Sin is not imputed when there is no law.
So it’s the law that came in first, before sin could happen, then death came in.
What???? Satan doe not love the righteous commands of God....that may be the most ridiculous thing I have heard today...
Revelation 12:17, "Then the dragon became furious with the woman and went off to make war on the rest of her offspring, on those who keep the commandments of God and hold to the testimony of Jesus. And he stood on the sand of the sea."
Daniel 7:25, " 25 He shall speak words against the Most High, and shall wear out the saints of the Most High, and shall think to change the times and the law; and they shall be given into his hand for a time, times, and half a time.
not saying this at you, I am quoting it;
John 8:44-46, " 44 You are of your father the devil, and your will is to do your father's desires. He was a murderer from the beginning, and does not stand in the truth, because there is no truth in him. When he lies, he speaks out of his own character, for he is a liar and the father of lies. 45 But because I tell the truth, you do not believe me. 46 Which one of you convicts me of sin? If I tell the truth, why do you not believe me?
So do you think satan sinned in the garden?
Well, if you'd say the BOLD ^ part like the following, I'd agree and be more aligned with what you might be attempting to say:
"For until the Law, sin was in the world; but sin is not imputed, there being no law." Romans 5:13
You must understand the mystery that was revealed only to Paul. As Gentile believers, take your church doctrine from Paul, even though yes I know that must sound like heresy to a "red letter Christian"
There is a good reason why, in the last days of Peter, he urged his Jewish brothers to get their doctrine from "Brother Paul" 2 peter 3:15, even though he himself admitted that he finds Paul's doctrine difficult to understand.
You are correct, I should have put "hates to follow the law" ,Actually Satan loves the law because it strengthens sin. (1 Cor 15:56). What he hates is grace.
He wanted to be God himself, even before God created Adam. So no, it was way before.
Where does Peter urge ppl to adhere to Paul's doctrine?
Well then there had to be some law or else there could be no sin...
2 Peter 3:14-16, Peter was writing to the Jews, as Galatians 2:9 dictated.
