I created this thread to give conservative Christian singles a place to find likeminded brothers and sisters in Christ for friendship and fellowship.

By "conservative" I mean devout in one's adherence to the doctrines of the New Testament (not to various denominational practices or traditions, and not to the laws or traditions of Judaism, or of Roman Catholicism, Mormonism, or Seventh Day Adventism).

"Conservative Christian", as used here, also does not refer to any political identity group. It simply means following the collective teachings and commandments of Jesus Christ and of His apostles as closely as one knows to do by his or her God-given understanding, in pursuit of true holiness and godliness and a life pleasing and honoring to God.

This is intended to be a friendly, godly, and loving place for believers to meet, so kindly refrain from using it to quarrel over doctrines or traditions or interpretations of Scripture, or for promoting/recruiting for a particular movement or a sect.

Discussions of beliefs and civil disagreement is fine; quarreling is not.

By your own definition of Conservative Christian there may not be many members that will qualify to join in this friendly, godly, and loving place in this thread. Under your guidelines there will be nothing much left to talk about. I don't see this thread being successful or even a blessing. Regardless, glad to have you join us. Welcome to CC.

The very act of opening a thread in a public forum opens it for the opportunity to become anything. Creating a thread with an expectation that it will stay on topic more than a page or two is just not going to happen. The restrictiveness of what you desire makes it unappealing. Freedom in Christ, long as you stay within this tight limitations? Hmm...

EVERYBODY I am friends with, married or single, talks about food whenever there is nothing else to talk about. It's an important topic. :cool:

RoamingDove more than three quarters of your opening post is "don't do this, don't allow that." If you want to establish a light hearted, good natured thread, this is not a good way to begin.

I have an australian shepherd who enjoys italian food too. But he enjoys anything that doesn't bite him back.

If you know any german shepherds or yorkshire terriers, let me know what their opinion is on italian food. I can't offhand think of any italian dog breeds though...

How this thread is constructed is like taking the jelly out of the peanut butter and jelly sandwich. Usually Conservative Christian values are a form of political values. Such as, home schooling, pro-life, prayer in school, the Ten Commandments, and marriage only between a man and woman. Taking these off the table, it's hard for me to visualize such a narrowed topic. I think a better title for the thread would be, New Testament Christians thread.

I'm definitely NOT part of the group that encourages people to take the New Testament above all else, but view the Old and New Testament as equal. Jesus continuously quoted from the Old Testament, kept the law, and fulfilled the law. To be like Christ is to keep the law. Anyways, not trying to derail the thread, but rather give understanding on narrowed views of the faith.

My understanding of "New Testament Christians" would be like Calvary Chapel, Baptist, and non-denominational churches. In my mind, these topics would range from pre-trib rapture, love, grace, and salvation in Christ alone. In my mind, these topics are discussed at nauseam, but I would like to try add to the discussion.

I mentioned it in another post, but it's worth mention again. Christians need to start acting like warriors and not victims. Are we gonna win this fight, or are we gonna lose it?




Ephesians 6:10-18

I also was wondering about that... The foundation is labeled at the top in that illustration. I thought they were underneath.

Maybe we're diving headfirst into situations?

If the biggest area of concern is the illustration, than I feel like things went well. This is how I see it, if you don't understand how to be saved in Christ, than how will you stand? If you understand you are saved by faith in Christ, then that is the rock you stand on. Spiritual matters are of course symbolic at times and don't necessarily go in line with common knowledge, or common sense. Agreed?

If not, maybe you can help enlighten us?!?!
