I think the reason this point was raised to try and stir up sympathy for a persecuted individual, when
actually their behaviour is obvious literally to everyone. Their sympathisers actually believe it is

I will quantify the concept I am trying to verbalise. A belief can be something one cannot act upon,
so whether you believe it or not does not affect anything about ones life.
On the other hand is the belief was the house you were is was going to collapse and you got out of
it before it happened, that is working faith. A change in outlook caused an action to take place.
So the womans faith in who Jesus was, caused her to honour Him in the way she did, that is working
faith for me. She is saved by faith, but it has consequences in her life. It is not the actions prove the
faith, rather the actions show the faith that exists already.

Put this another way, if the faith was dead, nothing would appear. If the faith is alive and working,
it will always produce results.

Jesus talked about how a seed has to die to produce life, so the word of God produces life within us.

FHS, one problem I have with your scenario is that believing your house is going to collapse is not faith. It’s completely different. 😊

Funnily faith tells us we as sinners are going to be destroyed, but if we build our house on Jesus and His words it will stand eternally. So not at all different, but maybe in your thinking. Paul talks of sowing to the Spirit or the passions of the flesh. Jesus talks about building a tower, counting the cost.

This is new. So we stand in obedience to Jesus's teaching, but sin batters us. This makes nonsense of the sermon on the mount. The storms are life's troubles, stresses, but obedience and it fruit defend us. Very different. Thank you for sharing your view.

Sin batters me every single day. To say otherwise would be dishonest. Yet be that as it may, I am secure in my faith in Christ and He has secured my eternal, irrevocable salvation.
