Discernment in visions and dreams

Jesus told us in John 16-13 that when Holy Spirit comes, and that is the age we are in, He would guide, speak and show , leading us in all truth.

Hello everyone.

I have a question concerning dreams and visions. Very often i have visions and dreams but I am new when it comes to discerning where they come from , God, evil or myself.
My question is , does anyone of you know how to discern dreams and visions .
For example today i had a vision of a shadow flying and then for many minutes when i was lying in my bed i felt a cooling air around my body . It was very weird but i had peace .
I want to hear from God but I don’t want to be deceived as i know evil can come as an angel of light.
I would appreciate your wisdom .

Any thought, vision or similar that we have no clear understanding...do not act....and take it to G-d in prayer. But, you must be properly prepared before doing that ...as follows;

Make sure your heart is clean.. Repentance
You must be Baptized ( the final step of the sin cleansing process)
Living a righteous life is commanded

..."sacrifice for forgiveness is not available when sin is present".
One can conclude and scriptures refers thereto....G-d helps the righteous.

Paul said he was one born out of time. The revelations and mysteries that he heard while in the presence of God was not for his time.

They are for us in the last of these last days. It will take a “circumcised ear, hearing” to know.

Other than the dreams that are revealed as prophecy, the supernatural no. Not talking about our every day dreams...natural God healing our fleshly corrupted minds. . they are not a source of Christian faith.

We compare the spiritual understanding to the spiritual not seen as one source of faith . iI we would widen the authority to include dreams we make the scriptures without effect. Can't serve two teaching masters...

Two choices. Guided by dreams or guided by prophecy?

Well tis my first negative reaction so I will think on it. I have appreciated your input so far and I do value it.

I'm struggling with whether or not there is any merit in the middle road approach to people that are searching. Previously I was on a "harm reduction" forum and I do feel like there are things to be said to someone that is in doubt whether they realize it or not. Possibly that is the lukewarm approach to a situation. I do not know. I just know that there are certain conversations that I've both encouraged and rebuked people with scripture and I sense a searching heart so I'm not quick to pass judgement. Usually the connection that I thought was an open door just falls off because I am not sure of what their motivation is and they don't really seem interested enough to search me out, and a deep hunger/thirst isn't there. I once heard a story of an AA meeting above a bar for anyone that really wants it...and that approach is out there but the word appears to be completely contrary to that and yet it is prevalent in some ministries.

Like when someone who comes to a belief in Yeshua and I see a lot of changes and truly they "feel" different to me. Or possibly in my excitement I misread them I don't know. I share things, they share things. Then when I hear things completely off I just kind of shut down a little bit and wonder if they are just in the process or possibly on "christian carnival rides" of the enemy's devising that are designed to shut out truth. I could be reading too deep into it. Things get confusing for me personally.

I didn't fully quantify the post because I had to go to work and I was being a tad bit hasty. I seem to keep being "almost" late because I get distracted on here lol.

IMO, they are either making the whole thing up or are totally duped or trying to dupe people on purpose

doesn't matter. they were not asking questions....not saying they were worried or unclear about what they claim is going on

we should all remember that we should exercise caution and discernment

there is nothing in that post to indicate anyone should offer advice to someone who is apparently having a grand time playing with demons...IF what they say is even true

I would agree these are the last days The time of reformation has come. The veil is rent.

Paul being born out of time I would think would be in respect to the completion of his new birth our new incorruptible bodies.
Revelations and mysteries are what we “circumcised ear, hear.

Prophecy is the declared will of God it looks back in time and forward and to Paul when he present . John in Revelation the last new interpretation of God as a revelation. .. Today prophecy looks back and opening the seals, ahead to the end . No new prophecy of the present, no need. We have the perfect law by which we can hear as the witness of God..

Yeah, all the stuff she wrote about demons was totally not biblical and could be harmful to her (if she is in fact doing the things she said in that post) or to any Christian that might entertain the concepts in her post. That post needed rebuked and I for one am glad you stepped up.

The messages I receive from His word are for me and for everyone else. Occasionally He speaks to me on behalf of others, and intends me to relay the message.

Because in your mind, everything ever communicated by God is now recorded in Scripture (despite the fact that Scripture itself tells you otherwise), you apparently cannot comprehend the concept of God speaking today outside of Scripture as anything other than heresy... and you are incorrect.

It's really simple: the canon of Scripture is closed. God is not adding to it. Nobody here is saying otherwise. Yet God still speaks today to His children, and even to those not yet His children.

Then tongues has ceased along with the other manners of prophecy? ?

I am aware God speaks to his children. How we can hear him?
I hear Him ( daily bread). I suggested what is recorded as all that is written and all we need . One media by which we can believe, as it is written. No new visions, dreams, tongue or any manner that God did bring new prophecy to confirm he spoke.

Those who are trusting their outward experiences to confirm they are bring filled it is simply self-serving, self -edifying in sel- humility self created wonderments. I would think to give some sort of boost? . No such thing as a "sign gift" . Spiritual gift not seen yes. Many here are saying they are receiving a sign gifts

Some in self humility edify themselves by making a noise without meaning . .other falling back or get wet with water experience . . rather than walking by the exclusive faith of Christ which comes from hearing God through scriptures.

The false gospel of out of body (lying spirits bringing in illusion) experiences. . seems to be picking of speed. Makes me wonder when he comes back will he find the work that comes from hearing God through the written media (the work of His faith) working in new creatures or every after the imagination of their own fleshly minds evil, natural ?

Some people enjoy acting as if they are humble and love to worship angels.They always talk about the visions they have seen. Don’t listen to them when they say you are wrong because you don’t do these things. It is so foolish for them to feel such pride, because it is all based on their own human ideas.They don’t keep themselves under the control of the head Colossian 2: 18-19

I read it.

I’ve never had to give a lot of thought to what those dreams from above mean. The symbolism is always easily understood but that might have something to do with the word studies I’ve done. Do you write the dreams down in a journal that you receive?

Actually if I had a dream that I wanted more understanding on, that’s exactly what I would do. Look in the Hebrew language for the figurative meaning of a word.

One of my dreams was my purse was stolen. There’s more to it, but this was the gem. The message was don’t let your identity be taken. That’s who I am in Jesus.

Was it someone’s love opening up to God? Or a suppressed spirit being freed? Is what I would think.

Something similar to that. But, guessing isn’t really wise.

I see detractors here as well as all around us who think what God has been doing since the Creation is "new revelation". THAT is the deception of these last days, denying what He has done, is doing and will continue to do since He is the same, yesterday, today and forever.
