Shepherds and Hirelings--- -John 10

The Scripture often uses the word Shepherd to identify those who lead Gods people.
We often use the word pastor, bishop, or elder to refer to those who lead local churches.
There is much said about those who have become very wealth while being in the role of Shepherd and much despair when one of these people gets caught in sin or renounces his faith.

The Scripture also speaks of Hirelings, those who are employed to tend the sheep.
Scripture tells us that a true Shepherd will die for his sheep while a Hireling will run when danger approaches.
The Shepherd loves the sheep while the Hireling is in it only for the money.

There seem to be a very large number of Hirelings leading the sheep today and very few Shepherds.
One man said you can tell who a true Shepherd is by his smell.
A true Shepherd smells like the sheep.

How does you Shepherd smell?

Please read Acts 20:27-31 for additional information. And I don't know about how sheep smell but read what Jesus said at Matthew 7:15-23 on how to identify these "ravenous wolves." And as a side note, the four most lethal words in the Bible as far is I'm concerned is at vs23, "I never knew you."

I attended seminary 20 years ago and was astonished at the measure of ungodliness that roamed the hallways. Please understand, I’m not some Pharisee looking down my self righteous nose. I love God and give Him all the glory.

The ungodliness I speak of pertains to the instructors and students (future ministers) who wanted to rewrite the Bible and set new rules in place l to accommodate their political and social rules, most of which were contrary and antithetical to God’s Word.

Seminaries are of this world and ruled over by the god of this world, we should expect no less than what you described.
