Why do you wish to exclude the literal meaning when that is the
meaning which God wants you to have?
yes

There is no need to spiritualize that which is to be taken literally.
that doesn't mean there is no spiritual meaning.
the whole scripture testifies of Christ, and we are commanded to search it looking for Him in it. John 5:39.
if i look at this and think, ah, that's simple, nothing more to see here, i'm treating scripture like it's no more interesting than the ingredients on a cereal box.

yes, there is a plain, clear, literal meaning to the passage in the OP.
if i think, that's all, nothing more to see here -- why am i still reading the Bible every day? why bother?
what's the use in meditating on it every day if there's nothing to it?

There is much that can be gleaned by meditating on that verse, but firstly the literal meaning should be clear. However the OP wanted to exclude all related verses (which was rather foolish). For example why did God forbid man from consuming the blood of animals? Perhaps you can answer that (even though I could) but it means going to many other Scriptures to determine the spiritual application. So it both naive and foolish to suggest that we take a verse in isolation and then spiritualize it (avoid its literal meaning).

Genesis 9
3 Every moving thing that liveth shall be meat for you; even as the green herb have I given you all things.

4 But flesh with the life thereof, which isthe blood thereof, shall ye not eat.

What does this mean to you spiritually? What did the spirit told you?

Excluding other verses that links to this verse and excluding the literal meaning of this verse.
Idk how to exclude the literal meaning. One could perhaps argue on the literal meaning of the verse and "spiritualize it" from there in order to suit an additional "leap" in interpretation though. It really depends on what "you" believe you have received.

This is a place to bounce it off other people. Your own spirit can make stuff up (as well as your flesh) so just be mindful of that. Easy to fall into error when parsing one sentence of the word and thinking "too" deeply on it without taking in scripture as a WHOLE.
Discussing it with a larger premise though is fine just be open to correction/rebuke ofc.

Context matters :p

Edit: As a side note, just thinking about blood flowing through moving things you can get lost in

Y'all might notice that guy hasn't been back.............just saying.......

It seems we have an onslaught of folks (same person?) joining, posting such questions, and never returning to the Thread............

Personally, I think anyone who posts such a question without giving any hint of what their opinion is concerning the question asked, should suffer the fate of having their Thread fade quickly into the neatherworld of the interweb.............. but, now, that may just be me

I just had the same thought. I think I'm going to start looking a little more closely at profiles...helpful when formulating a reply to get a sense of who I'm talking to and where their question is coming from.

Surely if it got bumped to page 100 or w/e they could "bump" it to show a continued interest?

Every Scripture has a meaning and purpose, but one should not try to put a "spiritual" meaning to all Scripture.
This Scripture simply states a fact and nothing more.
but some churches did that is just why doing this survey

Genesis 9:3 But flesh with the life thereof, which is the blood thereof, shall ye not eat.

The instruction is that the flesh is to be eaten, but the blood is not to be eaten. The blood is to be drained then the flesh is to be eaten.

Leviticus 17:

10 And whatsoever man there be of the house of Israel, or of the strangers that sojourn among you, that eateth any manner of blood; I will even set my face against that soul that eateth blood, and will cut him off from among his people.

11 For the life of the flesh is in the blood: and I have given it to you upon the altar to make an atonement for your souls: for it is the blood that maketh an atonement for the soul.

The blood is given upon the altar to make atonement for the soul.
that explanation includes another verse tho it should stays gen9:4 spiritually not literal

Why do you wish to exclude the literal meaning when that is the meaning which God wants you to have? There is no need to spiritualize that which is to be taken literally. In this verse God allowed mankind to eat the meat of any creature, but the blood was forbidden to man.

One of the greatest sources of spiritual confusion is trying to spiritualize things which must be taken literally, and failing to distinguish between metaphors and reality.
there is always a reason to everything i have my own and a personal one

Your closing sentence (bolded) presupposes that such is an appropriate way to interpret Scripture.

It isn't.

Your approach is known as spiritualizing. It's a good way to get yourself deluded, deceived, and derailed.
that.. that was just coincidence
Why would we exclude the literal meaning of the verse!!!!!!
why exclude other verses? and literal meaning? because i was only asking for the spiritual meaning not to get derailed or something

this is me simply trying to find a way to save others my relatives that is not sure if they are all wrong but in this understanding they are

they say that the bible is a mysterious book most of it are literal but some are spiritual they are also christians but different to the point that born again members would considered them as witches and wizards who possess familliar spirits(it's because they've judge too easily) they don't have those things it's just that they do things more in spiritual they are called christian spiritist

their basis is the bible just like everyone here i've seen them pray multiple times and it was not odd they gather in a place all standing or all sitting a prayer to God that includes praises, forgiveness, worship ends with the name of the only begotten son Jesus Christ the holy spirit and the Father God

the only odd thing is that they have the holy spirit inside a random person(medium) and then it give praise to the son and the father it also points a verse to the bible to support it's claims it also speaks of what will happened in the future that you should avoid this and that lest you die(well those things did happened) people that around that medium wrote the things that that medium says they've even asked things regarding this and that there's pause for a few sec before it answers all of these things that random person medium doesn't remember anything and i believed they really don't remember a thing because they are not forcing people to believe they did not asked me to tell you these things and i've known these things years ago only be informative now and the fact that they can't possibly work together and be fraudulent because they are not related by blood they also have different characteristics
13 Howbeit when he, the Spirit of truth, is come, he will guide you into all truth: for he shall not speak of himself; but whatsoever he shall hear, that shall he speak: and he will shew you things to come.

14 He shall glorify me: for he shall receive of mine, and shall shew it unto you.

15 All things that the Father hath are mine: therefore said I, that he shall take of mine, and shall shew it unto you.

still trying to figure out what the spiritual meaning of R29kIElzIExvdmU is -- will get to the other question afterwards.

I am sorry for you loss! No one has the right to judge but harshness comes from many! It is good to study the word for there is where you find answers that teach the love and correctness of God! I am not sure exactly what your relatives are practicing nor where you are at. This I do know the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit do not work against themselves, they are one in TOTAL agreement! The Holy Ghost is the third diety in the Godhead and is the promised comforter Jesus said He would send back to us! He edifies the Bride of Christ in guiding our walk thru scripture and our prayers! He is here with fruit that causes us to be more like Christ and has many functions and gifts to perform if we yield unto Him! I will pray that He guide you into all truth, for God has spoken to His ppl thru, parables, proverbs, allegories, symbols and many other hidden ways that are ONLY spiritually opened to us! May you find His comfort and guidance!

In the garden before the fall there was no death. Animals were not killed and consumed. After the fall when sin entered in then death entered and animals were killed and they became food.

Sorry about your dad but do not let circumstance dictate your understanding of scripture. Circumstance often drives us closer to God and that is good but allow God to guide you into paths of righteousness not into supposed higher knowledge.

What are you uncertain about with regard to your salvation? You know that all men are condemned before God until and unless they receive the grace of God in Christ? John 3:16-17

why exclude other verses? and literal meaning? because i was only asking for the spiritual meaning not to get derailed or something
this makes a lot of sense

the Bible is full of typology though. like analogies, or metaphors - for example the brass serpent raised up on a pole that all who looked to it were healed from their deadly snakebites. if i looked at that, excluding everything else in the Bible, how likely am i to interpret the meaning of it wrong? there's a simple, literal meaning - yeah, they literally were bitten by some kind of serpent, and yeah they literally were healed just by looking. but this is an awesome picture of Christ; He says so Himself in John 3, and i have to know more about the gospel, about Him crucified, and about all the implications of that and how salvation works, to see the spiritual meaning. so i'm connected all over the new testament immediately, and to Genesis 3, and lots of other places the deeper i dig.

i understand your intent tho. easy to get derailed, and you didn't come here & ask to hear about the literal meaning of Genesis 9 because it's really straightforward.

thanks. i'm still thinking about the verse. :)

I was mostly referring to threads where it has been days and the person is a new poster or doesn't post often.

Rough thing to go through. My grandfather had COPD and toward the end he was almost like a different person. I still was able to "see" him if that makes sense and I still felt when he said something...despite how judgemental/mean it seemed I still looked past it and saw his heart and the urgency and frustration he felt.

Idk if you went through that but it was less of a shock when I encountered it the 2nd time with another older man.

If you read the scriptures following, God begins to explain that he will require Justice for when ever a man's life is taken or blood is spilled.

So what does it have to do with human being allowed to eat meat but not meat with the life blood still in it.
Cruelty from becoming jaded.
God does not want us to engage in cruelty to the animals that we eat. Because we humans tend to walk toward evil taking the next step. If God didn't give this as a command how soon would we be tearing the living flesh from an animal and devouring it like an animal.

It was after the flood that meat was given as food :)
i wonder why?
why then, but not before?
That is a good question :D
My thought is that prior to the flood, a mist came out of the ground to water the plants (Gen 2:6) and above the earth was a protective layer of water (Gen 1:6-7).

When the flood came, the "fountains of the deep" were broken up (water deep underground) and the "windows of heaven" were opened (the waters above the firmament).

After the flood, the watering comes from rain and there is an element of outside atmospheric involvement.

The water covering was removed and there was no longer a protective vapor covering which may have filtered out unnecessary (and possibly harmful???) particles.

(Note: this is just my opinion on the matter)
