I wish to apologise for making reckless private comments about world leaders. As a Christian, I should focus on the Gospel and not political issues.

The best thing we can do for leaders is pray, pray, pray

1 Timothy 2:

1 I exhort therefore, that, first of all, supplications, prayers, intercessions, and giving of thanks, be made for all men;

2 For kings, and for all that are in authority; that we may lead a quiet and peaceable life in all godliness and honesty.

3 For this is good and acceptable in the sight of God our Saviour

I think we all know how hard it is to pray for people we totally disagree with. God tells us to pray for all in authority ... not just the ones we agree with and forget the ones we disagree with.

HTN,
hub and I really appreciate your humble Thread...

we 'often' have to hold our tongues, especially when we know what the scriptures say about 'leaders'.
and know what they are really doing and who they are serving!...

it's always a very good thing to read ALL of the scriptures concerning this topic, only then will you
find peace and confidence about what your 'duty' truly is and this will lead to peace of mind'...

I am not aware of all current events in the news, since I have been homeless, but I belong to the Orthodox Church and during the liturgy the Church prays for civil authorities. The Orthodox Church includes several churches including Greek, Russian, and other Slavic churches. The liturgy is similar in Orthodox churches, but music styles can differ. The Russian tradition has some of the most beautiful music in the Orthodox Church.

I'm not writing as an expert in Church history, but I am over age 60, and am aware of how the Orthodox Church has faced many challenges in Russia and other Slavic countries in past decades. The Church has been vital and sacred in the history and national identity of the Russian people. I'm not aware of all the issues, but I believe that a nation has the right to honor the Church of origin in their country according to their history and traditions. This could include only allowing other established churches by invitation. If other churches are not in communion with the historical church of a nation, I believe that if a church is not welcomed, then, in the spirit of the Gospel, a church of foreign origin should voluntarily leave until welcomed again.

I believe the leader of Russia also belongs to the Orthodox Church. I would like to apologise for any offenses due to my independent opinions, which I was not authorized to express publicly, for which I have been disciplined and warned by Church authority, and have repented of my reckless and dangerous independent behavior. I was warned to stay out of church politics by a high ranking priest who served the Bishop years ago, and my behavior was disruptive and lacked humility, for which I am sorry.

Here in North America, the church I belong to, while we use hymns from the Russian and Greek traditions, as well as other traditions, is referred to as the Orthodox Church in America.

While I may not agree with all civil authorities or their actions where I live, we are called as Christians to obey civil authorities, unless they violate Christian values. Even Jesus said that those who handed him over to civil authorities who found no fault in him, had the greater sin.

I have not cleared this with church authority, but felt an apology was urgent, since I have been reckless with my opinions and speculations, even though I have a valid gift of prophetic word. I am learning to humbly let God speak through my life without my interference.

Thank you for your frank and open post. I am sorry your circumstances seem dire! I am also sorry you do not have the freedom to express yourself or be who God wants you to be! I know of no wrong that you have so expressed,if this is humility apologizing then my thanks to God,however if you are being forced or coerced I am praying for your liberty! May He lead you to a place of rest,and shelter for your needs! May He also bless you in finding your way out of the restrictions placed on you by man! Whom the Son sets free is free indeed! I am and have been holding you up in prayer!💖💖💖

In the late 1980s I worked in Russia. At that time, religion was forbidden in the country, and Isaac's Church in Leningrad was a museum.

On weekends, I met local young people in my age and often visited their homes. To my surprise, I noticed that the homes had an altar with an iconi on it.

The Orthodox faith survived in Russia even though its practice was forbidden for over 70 years.

I have grown in an Lutherian society, however in adult age I began to interest in the origin of the Christian faith and the Orthodoxy became close to my heart.

@HeraldtheNews, God bless your heart.

In God's eyes, there is one church, the one body of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ (Eph 4:4) and the Lord Jesus Christ is the Head over all things to His church (Eph 1:22).

We tend to relegate ourselves to various denominations and those denominations are comprised of both chaff and wheat. The wheat is representative of the true believers ... the members of the one body in our Lord Jesus Christ.

God knows those who are His whether they sit in an Orthodox church in Russia, a Catholic church in Venezuela, a protestant church in Australia, a reformed church in Africa. He does not see us as segregated by these various denominations. God sees us as one church, the Lord Jesus Christ as Head, each one of us as members in particular ... each with a specific function within the body.

It is so important for us to see ourselves as God sees us. Be the best believer wherever you attend church. Seek out others who are faithful stewards of the grace of God. Be a beacon of light in the church where you congregate with other likeminded believers. Pray together ... pray for your pastor/priest to teach God's Word; pray for the Word of God to flourish; pray for open ears to hear God's Word; pray for the body of believers to enter the mission field (the world) with open hearts and open mouths to speak God's Word boldly; pray for the leaders in the seats of government (local, state, country).

Our prayers reach up to heaven itself and reach the open ears of our Father God and He responds. While He might not always answer our requests as we think He should, He will bring the peace which passes all understanding to our hearts and minds as we wait on His resolution in whatever crisis we face in this life.

In Ephesians 6:18-19 we are instructed to pray with all prayer and supplication for all saints and pray for open mouths to make known the mystery of the gospel. If we don't always know who or what authorities to pray for, we can always pray for our brothers and sisters in Christ to "Herald the News" (see what I did there???) :)
