Hi all. Im 47 y.o, work professionally as an RN, and live in GA. (Im from PA originally.) Im an ecumenically minded Catholic that enjoys discussing all sorts of topics, including theological differences among denominations (when done in a respectful manner).

Im a huge movie fan, and my favorite hobby is home theater/audio. I also enjoy many different genres of music, as well as reading, writing, and bucket list planning.

I was divorced in 2005 with no biological children of my own, but proud to say I played a part in raising twin boys who are now serving and protecting their country.

My schedule is such that I spend a lot of time alone (with my dog), as I work evenings/nights. Typically Im awake when the rest of the world is sleeping and vice versa.,

Anyway, happy to meet you all and I look forward to some fellowship and interesting discussion.

Hi DiscusThrower,

God bless you. I would caution that the internet has a problem with filters, people say stuff in this
environment that would never be said face to face, and emotions that would be kept in check often
fly, so if love, forgiveness and patience, which as a RN you know how to practice, things will go well.

In our church we had three young people go out to india to work with a charity helping street kids.
One of them liked Mother Teresa and the sisters of charity and the asthetic lifestyle of discipline.

Some unfortunately do not appreciate such things or even understand them.
So God bless you, and may you find this an growing experience in Christ, Amen.

There are plenty here that have been divorced, including myself, so you're in good company. A few Catholics and Catholics no longer attending mass, including myself, so you should feel right at home. Discussing theological differences among denominations is a popular topic, especially in the Bible Discussion Forum, but please be fore-warned that at times the conversations can get rather heated as there are several that are very opinionated. Seems to me that you live a well balanced life and are on the right spiritual track. Glad to have you join us as part of our community. Welcome to CC.

Hello. Welcome to CC. That's a very nice opening thread you wrote.
As for this:
Typically Im awake when the rest of the world is sleeping and vice versa.,
lol, well that seems to be true for all of us:LOL: but I get what your saying. Where you live, your up while everyone else is asleep. I use to work nights, can get crazy sometimes.
But since being on CC and making many new friends around the world, the whole time of day/night has a whole new meaning to me. Just last night I was up working around the house late, looked up at the moon and thought to myself :gee it's late I should be asleep like everyone else....." then realized that somewhere on this great big earth some of my new friends are up probably having or just finishing lunch:LOL:
Anyway, happy to meet you all and I look forward to some fellowship and interesting discussion.
anyways, it's nice to meet you too. Stick around, get past the people who drive every debate into the ground, you'll find plenty of wonderfull felowship and lots of interesting discussions! Hope to see ya around.

Welcome, we love you. Please don't be discouraged if you meet someone who seems less welcoming. They may be the ones that need our love the most.:)

God bless you.

Hello to you. I loved GA. when I visited Dalton in 1975 and I've worked plenty of 3rd shifts... 7 years in an all night wedding chapel on the Las Vegas Strip.

Hi DiscusThrower, and welcome to CChat! WOW, great intro!! Thanks :)

You seem like you've been blessed with a very interesting life and I'm looking forward to hearing more about it, especially since you chose the name "DiscusThrower" for your user name

I wish you the best as a Roman Catholic because no RC's have lasted for very long around here since I've been a member. I was in your position for quite awhile as the only Protestant, at times, who posted regularly on Father Z's forums @ Catholic.org (sadly, I'm fairly certain those forums no longer exist). I would ask a simple question, and even though it seemed clear that I was only trying to understand RC beliefs and doctrine, I'd end up with as many as 100 of our members rushing to answer the question that they "thought" I was asking instead. Father Z stepped in several times to further explain what I was actually asking, and often to just go ahead and answer my question(s), as well. I was always thankful that he did (I think he may have felt sorry for me sometimes :giggle:).

I have a specific question or two that I'd like to ask you about the RCC (about parts of its doctrines concerning baptism and confession), but I shouldn't ask you those questions on this intro thread.

God bless you!

A close 2nd to dogs in the category of being welcoming. WOW, that is a very high honor :)
