They asked 3 questions:

When these things will happen (the destruction of the temple and Jerusalem);

What wil be the sign of his "presence" (which is not equal his "coming" (wrong translation));
Presence will be the beginning of the end,

And the sign that all the world is at the end of the end.

They asked for signs.
.
3952 parousia presence, a coming, an arrival, advent, especially of the second coming of Christ

I don't want to get off track but "he will return in like manner" as He ascended to heaven, also when He closed the book for the 2nd part of the sentence...the day of vengeance, or when we gather to Him He has to "come" to be "present" He is returning as Lord of Lords and king of Kings,

I don't think I understand the "wrong translation" part. I know His presence or coming will begin the millennium.

and it is "coming" 22 times and presence (2) times.

His "presence" will be "The Lords Day"

The answer is : "beware nobody misleads you".

It was the sign; the kernel of the chapter which is: take food only from me (Jesus Christ), be aware of false christian Christs.

I must have misunderstood the post. I thought it was to be a verse by verse analysis and I did not realize we had gone on to Verse 4.

I would offer. I would include the last verse from the previous chapter. It sets up the discussion and Jesus's action of walking away . . . I think as a way of making or confirming a point. . as he does in other occasions.
yes we don't have Matthew 24 without Matthew 23. in which He says woe, woe woe! and calls the scribes and pharisees -- occupants of the temple -- whitewashed tombs, beautiful on the outside but inside full of corpses.

so why are disciples trying to show Him the temple, in 24:1?

Mat 24:1 And Jesus went out, and departed from the temple: and his disciples came to him for to shew him the buildings of the temple.
what? why? what are they thinking?
what does it mean that they are doing this when He's just gone through all the woes in ch. 23?
why does 24 come after 23?

verse 4 then And answering Jesus said to them take heed lest anyone mislead you. First thing for me was the "lest" as a qualified negative making the statement emphatic. lead astray, deceive, cause to wander.

So absolutely the first thing you need to watch out for and to make sure doesn't happen is that NO ONE LEADS YOU ASTRAY Watch out for deception. He makes sure we know deception is coming.

why do they ask the three questions in 24:3 after He had just given the answer of 23:37-39 ?

O Jerusalem, Jerusalem, the one who kills the prophets and stones those who are sent to her! How often I wanted to gather your children together, as a hen gathers her chicks under her wings, but you were not willing! See! Your house is left to you desolate; for I say to you, you shall see Me no more till you say, ‘Blessed is He who comes in the name of the Lord!’
Now as He sat on the Mount of Olives, the disciples came to Him privately, saying, “Tell us, when will these things be? And what will be the sign of Your coming, and of the end of the age?”

Because He is now referring to it as "Your house" when at the start He referred to as His Fathers house.

the only other mention in ch. 23 of a house is woe to the pharisees because they 'devour widow's houses'

in 24 He doesn't mention His Father's house, but says if that day finds you on the housetop, don't go down to get anything out of it, and that the master of the house would have been ready if he knew what hour the thief came into the house, and also that the god and wise servant who is given charge of the household 'to give them food in due season' is the one who, when He comes, He finds doing that - giving the household food in due season.

so we went from the wicked foolishness of devouring - what does that mean? - widow's - who are they? - houses - what are those? - which makes that servant/thief's house desolate, to the wise goodness of filling the Master's household - what is that? - with food - what is that? - in due season - when is that?

I don't know what response you are trying to elicit is that the right word I always get confused, but the ones who were supposed to be in charge of teaching Gods words had mostly become the vagabond jews of the synagogue of Satan and were in to robbing not only money but knowledge as well. They made sure they looked good on the outside but just like the inside of the temple they were filthy.

There's nothing wrong with seeking clarification. And those questions helped all Christians to understand how things would develop.
who said anything about something being wrong? i'm seeking clarification, too ;)
what did they need clarified? what is possible to be known from what He said in ch. 23? who only heard the things in ch. 23, and not in chapter 24, but still understood? what did they understand?
how are 23 and the first 3 verses of 24 related?
why does 23 come after 24? what happened in 22 that introduced 23? are the things in 24 new or are they explaining the things in 22-23?

i'm just looking to know more about the things He talks about here, to understand what He's talking about here, to understand Him.
a way to learn about something is to ask questions about it. all the questions. another way is to put together all the facts you have about it and see what picture they make. ;)

I agree. No questions, no answers. Hopefully who ever answers them knows where to find it in the Word. If not, bybye

IOW isn't ch. 24 all about 22:1-14, the parable that precedes 22-24?

And Jesus answered and spoke to them again by parables and said: “The kingdom of heaven is like a certain king who arranged a marriage for his son, and sent out his servants to call those who were invited to the wedding; and they were not willing to come. Again, he sent out other servants, saying, ‘Tell those who are invited, “See, I have prepared my dinner; my oxen and fatted cattle are killed, and all things are ready. Come to the wedding.” ’ But they made light of it and went their ways, one to his own farm, another to his business. And the rest seized his servants, treated them spitefully, and killed them. But when the king heard about it, he was furious. And he sent out his armies, destroyed those murderers, and burned up their city. Then he said to his servants, ‘The wedding is ready, but those who were invited were not worthy. Therefore go into the highways, and as many as you find, invite to the wedding.’ So those servants went out into the highways and gathered together all whom they found, both bad and good. And the wedding hall was filled with guests.
“But when the king came in to see the guests, he saw a man there who did not have on a wedding garment. So he said to him, ‘Friend, how did you come in here without a wedding garment?’ And he was speechless. Then the king said to the servants, ‘Bind him hand and foot, take him away, and cast him into outer darkness; there will be weeping and gnashing of teeth.’
“For many are called, but few are chosen.

I love and hate this parable. It makes me cry.

Good questions (in your entire post). I bolded a couple parts... because I believe one aspect of their Qs in verse 3 (part of that) was asked based on what He had ALREADY spoken with them about in Matt13:24,30,39,40,49-50 regarding "the end [singular] of the age [singular]" [also stated in v.3 here] (as well as what FOLLOWS that time period, but mentioned in the chpt previous to 13, in 12:32, "the age [singular] to come" [what WE know as / commonly call "the promised and prophesied earthly Millennial Kingdom, which will commence upon His "return" to the earth]). Jesus responds to that, in His answer that follows (i.e. in chpts 24-25), and I believe the "you" throughout, is a consistent "you" and a "proleptic 'you'," meaning (basically), "all those in the future OF THE SAME CATEGORY" (He is speaking to those who had been promised "the promised and prophesied earthly Millennial Kingdom," AKA "the wedding FEAST/SUPPER" of Matt22:2-14, AKA "the kingdom of the heavens [on the earth]" of Matt13 [etc])… It is THEY (those "faithful [remnant] OF ISRAEL") who will [in the future trib years (having come to faith WITHIN the trib [FOLLOWING our Rapture])] BE the ones DOING the "INVITING" [of the "guests [plural]"] TO "the promised and prophesied earthly Millennial Kingdom" which was promised to them. IOW, the Matt22:2-14 passage does not cover/concern/mention "the Bride/Wife [singular]" and is not about "the MARRIAGE" itself, but "the wedding FEAST/SUPPER" [the MK age], which do not occur at the exact same moment (and involve distinct characters, if you will). :)

The buildings were three fortified towers in the temple precincts but not in the Temple itself.
