1PETER 5:8-9
Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil, as a roaring lion, walks about, seeking whom he may devour:

Whom resist stedfast in the faith, knowing that the same afflictions are accomplished in your brethren that are in the world.
EPH.6:10.-11.
Finally, my brethren, be strong in The Lord, and in the power of His might.

Put on the whole armour of God, that you may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil.
one of the devil's and his servants ways to deceive, are to tell a lot of 'truths first',
and then 'slowly and meticulously weave in his lies'...
as it is written:
MATT. 24:5.
For many shall come in My Name, saying, I am Christ; and shall deceive many.
there are way to many 'out-there' right now saying that Jesus is Lord, and deceiving many...

whatsoever things are honest vs Satan is a Deceiver from the very beginning
whatsoever things are just vs Satan loves and promotes injustice
whatsoever things are pure vs Satan loves and promotes filth, garbage, and impurity
whatsoever things are lovely vs Satan loves that which is unlovely, ugly, and hateful
whatsoever things are of good report vs Satan loves evil and wickedness
if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise vs Satan says "I will makes sure they are exterminated"

because he masquerades as an angel of light. the Woman saw that the fruit was good and desirable for gaining knowledge. Lot saw that the whole plain was well watered, like the garden of God, like the land of Egypt.
that's what deceit is all about -- when someone is debased to the point that they desire ugliness because it is ugly, and hate because it is hate, and wickedness for wickedness's sake, they're not so much being 'deceived' anymore.
