Funny thing about Christian folk, if ya wanna have an endless debate there are a few topics guaranteed to do the job: Bible version, speaking in tongues, divorce, and homosexuality. I wonder why these topics are so hot button?
I think we get in our flesh and our feelings over these things. So if I may, 2 of these subjects are about sin; all of us have sin, and if we are Christian we repent of those things. Neither the homosexual nor the divorced are beyond the ability to repent and be saved. We can't co-sign sin and expect them to repent. We do however have to have grace and be kind to the sinner if we are to introduce them to our Lord. So we have to find the balance between kindness and co-signing or excusing or enabling.
The scripture is clear on how to do this, if we do as the scriptures say we will do right.
The other 2 subjects are just proof we don't study and know the word as we should. We should endeavor to be well studied in the scriptures, not the theology of this or that group of Christians.
In order to be honest we must drop our identity groups and identify with Christ alone. We must be sold out to the truth. In God's word is where the truth is found.

And such were some of you, but don't let it be named among you now .

there are those who are Christian who has committed adulterous. they are not called adulterous Christian as their identity. they are Christians who have sinned. homosexuality is not a race of people it is an act of sin. Why is that so hard for a Christian to see? I know why the unsaved see it that way.
Is it because Jesus was silent on the topic??? .... heard that line of reasoning more than I count.:cautious::(

Well according to a church I used to belong to. Divorce is adultery, so they don't accept divorce people as members.
Well calibob, this is where they fall short of defining Christians. No matter how many times you give and take wedding vows, unless you are truly a believer your marriage is not sanctified. If you truly have the Holy Spirit and ask God to sanctify your marriage, do not ever ask Him again. The believer is allowed one wife only.

Not if they refuse to repent and choose to make it their life style.
At the risk of opening up a can of worms here that I don't really want to get into, what you are espousing here is works-based salvation. Is being gay actually a litmus test for not being saved? Is one who adulters with a woman less sinful than one who adulters with a man?

Let me answer that one: Luke 6:46 "And why call ye me, Lord, Lord, and do not the things which I say?" Nuff said! ;)

Sex with a woman is natural for men. Sex with another of your same gender is unnatural, immoral, disgusting and an abomination to God. Men are not meant to diddle other men, nor women to diddle other women.

no one has even suggested that the strawman will not work. Works have nothing to do with it. No one said that those who engage in homosexual activity cannot be saved. That is a false narrative created by those who are subconsciously supporters of this sin. Homosexuality today is the only sin were people see as a race of people LOL. The idea one says "being gay" is an acknowledgment of a permanent condition like one's ethnicity "Being gay " is the normalization of sin in the context of the very statement. one is not being gay they are just simply engaging in the sin of a man laying with a man as with a woman.

But if a christian mans wife leaves him and divorces him he may never remarry? When the scripture was written it was purely the husbands decision to get a divorce. Women had no rights. Now Women can divorce without there husbands consent or agreement. It's called 'A no fault divorce.' I didn't agree but I couldn't stop it. But now I can't get remarried either because that 1 sin is unpardonable? Homosexuals, Child molesters and even murders are welcomed back easier than divorced people to many fundamentalist churches. Maybe we should just become Eunuch's.

You seem to miss my whole point Reading a horoscope out of the newspaper or praying for a football team to win a game is equally as bad as the other abominations. You are bringing up the politics of it, which I addressed in he thread atheist agenda. You talk about straw man? That's part of the reasons atheists are pushing for Gay rights. To undermine Christianity. Every body does not have a political or religious agenda.

Did you address Waggles when he said they sealed their fate? I did. I acknowledge that anyone can be saved who calls upon the Name of the Lord, just as the Scriptures say.

I can't remember. He's got an extremist point of view that thinks reasoning means agreeing with him.

And everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved. Acts 2:21

And everyone who calls on the name of the LORD will be saved; for on Mount Zion and in Jerusalem there will be deliverance, as the LORD promised, among the remnant called by the LORD. Joel 2:32

for, "Everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved." Romans 10:13

PS~ not can be, but will be, just as the Scriptures say :) Some translations say shall be ;)

There are no adulterous Christians, just as there are no homosexual Christians.
To be a Christian one must be a doer of the Word.
Thus there are no marshmallow Christians either.

Hebrews
12:14 Follow peace with all [men], and holiness, without which no man shall see the Lord:
12:15 Looking diligently lest any man fail of the grace of God; lest any root of bitterness springing up trouble [you], and thereby many be defiled;
12:16 Lest there [be] any fornicator, or profane person, as Esau, who for one morsel of meat sold his birthright.
12:17 For ye know how that afterward, when he would have inherited the blessing, he was rejected: for he found no place of repentance, though he sought it carefully with tears.

So to them since divorce is permanent we can't get un-divorced and remarriage is adultery also and in this day and age the person requesting the divorce only has to pay the court filing fee and will go through with or without the spouses acceptance being divorced is worse than being a Homosexual and because there are no adulterous Christians. There are no divorced Christians either? Since when was divorce blasphemy of the Holy Spirit?
No divorced Christians. Guess I don't qualify. Still, I have reason to believe, that I will be received, in Graceland.

Since we all sin occasionally, I guess that being a Christian must be an on-again, off-again thing. Apparently, you are a Christian only during the periods where you are a doer of the Word. Sounds sort of legalistic to me, fortunately it is by the shed blood of Jesus dying on the cross for my sins and the grace of God that I have salvation rather than leaning on my own determination to always and constantly be a doer of the word.

My wife and I were both 59 years old when we got married so I guess that it was a gray wedding. Well, at least on my part as I have some gray streaks in my dark brown hair. My wife is a blonde, no gray. We did have a gay time though.
