Lately the more time I spend at Jesus's feet, the more I just want to stay there. I think about Him all the time. I'm really loving reading the Bible and learning more about God. I just want to be in His presence all the time.

People have told me it's wrong for me to say that I'm in love with Jesus.

What's your opinion? Is it ok to say I'm in love with Jesus or should I just say I love Him? If you can back it up with biblical references, even better. Thanks.

I sure hope it's ok because I'm in love with Jesus also.

1 John
4:18 There is no fear in love; but perfect love casteth out fear: because fear hath torment. He that feareth is not made perfect in love.
4:19 We love him, because he first loved us.

I suspect that not all Christian have a deeply personal relationship with the Lord. I once even had on ordained preacher question me about it. I was shocked. Perhaps some block the Holy Spirit out of things. Whole denominations have a rather cold way of thinking about and worshipping God. I wish they could all feel and experience the love of Jesus the way we do.

Matthew 23:37 O Jerusalem, Jerusalem, [thou] that killest the prophets, and stonest them which are sent unto thee, how often would I have gathered thy children together, even as a hen gathereth her chickens under [her] wings, and ye would not!

I love him too . My messy house proves that i have become less of a martha and more of a mary lol.

Its good to escape religion and get to know him personally through prayer and his word. Theres so much overly religious hypocrits out there who dont have love and just want to constantly rebuke people. When we get to know the Lord personally we know they are not full of his spirit and can just ignore their behavior.

My take might be better suited for the "Unpopular Opinions" thread, but I'm going for it.......

Personally, I don't think we should say that we're "in love with Jesus". That implies romantic love. However, He loves us with "agape" love, which is the most complete, self-sacrificial love there is.

And it's kinda connected to the fact that many women refer to Christ as their "husband". That's not Scriptural, as far as I know.

You are at liberty in Christ Jesus. I do understand and know, eros, storge, and agape love forms of love. I never mean any disrespect in what I say! I mean it not in the romantic sense for example, when my first child was born,I looked at his sweet little face and fell completely " in love" .....meaning I knew what absolute unconditional, pure love was for another human!

Thanks all for your replies.

One thing i think i should mention is when i say i;m in love with Jesus, I'm in no way lusting over Him. He's my Lord and King and i reverence Him as He deserves our whole hearted worship. Maybe the way "in love" is used in the world is more of a carnal way of thinking, as believers i don't think we should think this way when talking about love. Our love for God (and others) should be from a pure heart with honest intentions.

I've had this song in my head the last couple of days...

These words from the song explain how i'm feeling.

My heart beating, my soul breathing
I found my life when I laid it down
Upward falling, spirit soaring
I touch the sky when my knees hit the ground

Find me here at Your feet again
Everything I am, reaching out, I surrender
Come sweep me up in Your love again
And my soul will dance
On the wings of forever

I know being in love is more than a feeling, our relationship with Jesus should be intimate but this intimacy to me means having Him first in our heart, laying down our life, it involves sacrifice of self desires that don't line up with His will for our lives, which is where i use to stumble but like i mentioned in the OP, lately i just want to spend more time with Him, when i go walking, I stand on the bridge, close my eyes and my mind is carried away with thoughts of Jesus. I can feel my heart changing and this is what i mean when i say i'm in love with Jesus. It's so much more than a feeling, it's the transforming and renewing i know is happening.

Matthew 23:37 O Jerusalem, Jerusalem, [thou] that killest the prophets, and stonest them which are sent unto thee, how often would I have gathered thy children together, even as a hen gathereth her chickens under [her] wings, and ye would not!
It can be difficult to explain things online but i know you understand where i'm coming from :)
Amen to this scripture. Sometimes people can be like this, Jesus calls them near but for whatever reason they choose to hold onto things and refuse to draw near to Him, even though if they'd just let go what He has so far greater...i know because this was me lol

I love him too . My messy house proves that i have become less of a martha and more of a mary lol.
I actually enjoy cleaning, i know i'm weird lol. Sometimes i listen to the audio bible as i clean but mostly i have worship music playing, use to be faster praise music but lately worship music is my go to.

so when the way gets rough, remember where you fell " In Love with our Saviour!
Thank you for that reminder, i certainly will :)

All goods, i asked for opinions so thank you for your input :)
I don't refer to Jesus as my personal husband but i do believe that His love is the greatest and more than enough for me :)

Thank all again for the replies. God bless you!

Jesus is a tender and compassionate friend.

Matthew
12:15 But when Jesus knew [it], he withdrew himself from thence: and great multitudes followed him, and he healed them all;
12:16 And charged them that they should not make him known:
12:17 That it might be fulfilled which was spoken by Esaias the prophet, saying,
12:18 Behold my servant, whom I have chosen; my beloved, in whom my soul is well pleased: I will put my spirit upon him, and he shall shew judgment to the Gentiles.
12:19 He shall not strive, nor cry; neither shall any man hear his voice in the streets.
12:20 A bruised reed shall he not break, and smoking flax shall he not quench, till he send forth judgment unto victory.
12:21 And in his name shall the Gentiles trust.

I remember there was an old song that went “I keep falling in love with Him, over and over and over and over again.” I don’t think you mean romantic but that love for Christ as our lord and our master and friend. I can’t really explain it...

But I want that love too. That perfect agape love.

We are invited to the marriage feast. Who is the bridegroom? Jesus! We are His bride. That includes you :)

I know that song :) a lady that use to attend the same church would sing it so beautifully.

You can have it. Seek Him first in all things. Draw near to Him and He will draw near to you.

Blessings.

ohhhhhh! I haven't heard that one in a while! Now it's going through my head! While I was reading through this thread one of my old favorites came to mind, "Love song for a Savior" by Jars of clay
Mezme, I TOTALLY get what you are saying. I think we refer to it as "falling in love with Him" because we don't have any earthly human way to describe it any better.

He leadeth me, oh blessed thought.
Oh words with heavenly comfort fraught.
Whatever I do, wherever I be,
Still is God's hand that leadeth me.

Lord I would clasp thy hand in mine,
Nor ever murmer or repine.
Content, whatever lot I see,
Since 'tis my God that leadeth me.

He leadeth me! He leadeth me!
By His own hand He leadeth me;
His faithful follower I would be,
For by His hand He leadeth me.

Its unfortunate but the English language and the word Love is kinda dumb imo you say love and people instantly think romance

Another song that came to mind as I was reading through this thread:
(lyrics posted below)

One thing my heart is set upon
One thing that I would ask
To know You, Lord, as close as one
Could hope to on this earth

Intimacy
O Jesus, intimacy
My treasure will be, O Jesus
Your intimacy

To look upon Your beauty, Lord
Your glory and Your heart
To know You close, and closer still
Watch day upon this earth

Lord, since the day I saw You first
My soul was satisfied
And yet because I see in part
I'm searching, more to find

But do you really know Jesus the groom? Many make an idol of Jesus, the Jesus they say they know is only something made up in man's head. If you have snubbed the Lord God the Father, never learning to know Him, then you don't know Jesus but only something man creates. Jesus said if you know the Father you know me, and the opposite is true.

To know the Lord (the Father, Son and Holy Ghost is the Lord) is to know and live with truth. Those who live only in the flesh are living a life that isn't truth at all. The world might have given them a doctor's degree in some category, but they are basically ignorant people.

Don't be like the blind men who met an elephant. As each felt only one part they described that part as the entire elephant such as a wall, spear, tree, snake and the ear felt like a fan. From the beginning of our time, God is one and that one consists of many parts including Jesus.

I concur with your estimation. I love Jesus but I would not say that I'm in love with Jesus. That term does indeed imply romantic love. That is just my preference however, and I would not find fault with someone using the term of being in love with Jesus. I agree also about not being scriptural for a woman to say that Christ is their husband. I don't think there is anything inherently wrong about saying that but only there is no scriptural basis for making such a claim.

When I think about being in love with another verses loving another, I think about intimacy. The word in is powerful to me, it conveys a deeper sense of (in)timacy. We are called to be the bride of Christ. Not to be in love with Jesus seems to be a conflict of His and our interests. This is just my opinion. I think that romantic earthly love is different but that our 1st love should always be His. Your Op is a great one, thank you.

Luke
7:44 And he turned to the woman, and said unto Simon, Seest thou this woman? I entered into thine house, thou gavest me no water for my feet: but she hath washed my feet with tears, and wiped [them] with the hairs of her head.
7:45 Thou gavest me no kiss: but this woman since the time I came in hath not ceased to kiss my feet.
7:46 My head with oil thou didst not anoint: but this woman hath anointed my feet with ointment.
7:47 Wherefore I say unto thee, Her sins, which are many, are forgiven; for she loved much: but to whom little is forgiven, [the same] loveth little.
7:48 And he said unto her, Thy sins are forgiven.
