In the parables of the hidden treasure and the pearl what matters is not the value because Il would be poor philosophy to travel and to bargain for things of such value.

It not even a question of rightful
ownership.

The pearl is the message we have in front of us coming from Jesus.

Who gave everything in order to purchase for Himself something He considered precious?

Is the gospel merchandise?

Did you purchase Christ or did He purchase you?

That pearl is of infinite worth. It was bought and paid for by the precious blood of Jesus. It must never be bought or sold by any man. Jesus has made salvation available to all who would surrender all for it. PTL!

Isaiah
55:1 Ho, every one that thirsteth, come ye to the waters, and he that hath no money; come ye, buy, and eat; yea, come, buy wine and milk without money and without price.
55:2 Wherefore do ye spend money for [that which is] not bread? and your labour for [that which] satisfieth not? hearken diligently unto me, and eat ye [that which is] good, and let your soul delight itself in fatness.

I'm not sure how you arrive at this conclusion. You couldn't just go shop for pearls on Amazon or eBay then like people do today. You had to go to where the things were available, and if that wasn't the source then you were paying someone else to transport whatever it was you were on the lookout for to wherever it was you could find it. You could not get silk anywhere but from China, and people rather famously built a road to transport it to markets in the west. If you didn't live near the road, guess what, you had to travel, maybe a very long way, to get to it in order to buy silk. And if you were a silk merchant then guess what, you would want to go all the way to China to buy it in bulk. It would not be economical for you to buy lots of it in the west for resale because you would be paying middle men who transported it themselves and who would want to profit from it.

So you are a merchant on the lookout for choice pearls? You have to go to where pearls are dug from the ocean. It's the only thing that makes sense.

I think that Jesus is speaking of himself and the father. Jesus gave himself for Ransom God gave his only son.
You saint, the church, are that Perl.
No man seeks God but God came to man. Not to destroy but to redeem......not to judge but to forgive......not out of anger and hate but out of love. To pay a debt he did not owe.

A very stupid man.

The gospel is no merchandise and we must be finer than moneychangers.

Christ purchased us all.

The pearl was of "high value" which is not infinite.

How could Jesus by an infinite pearly with ya blood he had not shed yet?

The waters of Isaiah now come from Jesus.

As for the value of pearls and treasures man needs to eat and drink and be happy and work.

Treasures and pearls are rubbish.

Revelation 13:8
And all that dwell upon the earth shall worship Him, whose names are not written in the book of life of the Lamb slain from the foundation of the world.

The difficulty of the search was not relevant if they had treasure, pearl and silk in front of you.

Middle men must be paid.

You are right that the ocean is where we must go.
Middle men are not always trustworthy.

Jesus was speaking of the good news of the kingdom.

Yes, the source of a living hope. Called the hidden manna in Revelation 2. The true wonder bread that surpasses all human understanding.

Jesus did not give everything because if he had he would have given his life, his hope his integrity which he did not do.

Not only a living hope but also a hope not to die.
Really a new incoming system will shorten the old one and with life will bring marvellous things.
