Don't get me wrong, I don't think being in a relationship or being married is a bad thing. But some people think being single is like a curse or something. Like you must be lonely or sad if you don't have someone in your life.

Personally, I enjoy being single. I enjoy being alone and knowing I can do whatever I want, whenever I want. I also feel it's less complication and headaches because, as is with just about any relationship, no matter how good it is, you're going to have your moments, right? It won't be smooth sailing all the time, that's for sure.

And (if you're lucky) you'll have friends to enrich your life and keep you from getting too lonely. Perhaps having true friends is underrated in life and finding "the one" is overrated.

Like I said, there's nothing wrong if you do have someone. But being single is....fun. At least to me. It's not a bad thing like some people make it out to be. At least not in my opinion.

For those who are single here, how do you feel about it? Do you enjoy it? Or are you unhappy being single? Please feel free to share your thoughts and feelings. I won't judge you for it. :)

Hard to quantify a vote in the poll, because I have to first nail down what some people make single out to be.

But yeah, I think too many people get way too wrapped up in the idea that they have to find a spouse. One, it is proven to not fix loneliness. Even if you have a loving, caring spouse you will still sometimes feel very alone. Two, it doesn't fix any other problems.

The problem I think is people get married not because they are running TO that person they want to believe they love, but running AWAY from being alone and having to deal with their problems by themselves. (Kind of like all the people who voted for somebody, not because they liked the person they voted for, but because he was against the guy they hated.)

Speaking of loneliness... A lot of people get that mixed up with boredom.

Now there IS a real loneliness, and it is a real problem. But I have known a lot of people who complained a lot about being lonely when it turned out they were just bored. And I've seen a lot of people try to find a date because "I'm so lonely" but when they get a relationship they get bored with it because they are trying to fix the wrong problem.

It's not all bad news though. If you are terribly lonely, get out there and do something. If you're really just bored, yay, your problem is solved! If your perceived loneliness does not go away, at least you know it's real and not just boredom.

I go through periods where I feel lonely and would like to be in a relationship and other times when I really don't care. At present I am in the I don't care period. I guess there are advantages and disadvantages to both. When I see problems in some peoples relationships I think to myself I am really glad I am not in a relationship but when I see it working for some where there is trust, respect and good communication I think to myself I wouldn't mind that. I just trust in God that if he wants me to meet someone somehow he will cause our paths to meet. Till then I just get on with things.

I know the feeling. I hear people talking at work about how low-down their significant others are and I sure am glad I'm single. I'm especially glad I'm not married to some of the people I hear talking.

But then there are many couples I know who are together because they love each other, not because of what each can do for the other, and it's just beautiful. Kinda makes me wish I had somebody to love. Only kinda though, not enough to make me go out looking for her.

There is no "We" in 'single'.

There is no "I" in 'couple'.

Take your pic.

I like being able to do whatever I want and not have to compromise my lifestyle with anyone. But sometimes I want a cuddle buddy when I'm watching Netflix. However, when I watch Netflix I usually have a snack...it's nice not having to share! :giggle:

When people marry "they will become concerned with the things of this world" as scripture says. Paul says it is better to be single so that one can wholly live for God. But, marrying is okay if one must.

I think our world deceives believers, that in order to be whole/complete, they must be married. Only in Christ are any of us whole. In singleness there is great freedom to follow Christ.

I was married and experienced the bondage that accompanies that. I am single and am experiencing true freedom in a relationship with Christ. Do I get lonely? Yes. But, I refocus and realize I really am never alone.

I have become used to being single.. When i was a teenager i was very depressed about being single but in my mid 20's i accepted it and the stress and depression just melted away.. Now i live without any of that worry and stress.. Indeed now i get stressed out if a woman starts to show interest in me.. I just don't want to deal with walking through the mine field of making a woman know that you are not interested in that kind of relationship.. Some woman get very upset when they feel they have been rejected..

Maybe if a young lady had shown interest in me when i was 21 then i would be married now and would have lived a totally different life.. But as the old saying goes ""Strike when the iron is hot"" No woman struck when i was hot and so when that heat dissipated no woman could forge me into a husband anymore..

I am at peace now living my life alone because i know with Jesus i am never alone..

I am not looking to get married.. And i have no desire to get married.. I gave up on it around 30 years ago and nothing has ""happened"" in that time.. Apart from a hand full of ladies showing interest that i had to handle with care..

I am content with being single..
