There’s something I don’t understand. I don’t know the answer to it, but it puzzles me.

How can a person become gay if he or she was not born gay?
Well Susanna, like I stated there was much research going back several decades although I am not sure it is still in the journals, however, and I have some knowledge of it from my studies, while I prefer not to get drawn into yet another debate, suffice it to say the causes are complex, however, psychologists did have a sense of some of the causes.

I did at one time pursue a social work degree but hated so much I switched to another more rigorous program but in my placements many men that had AIDS at that time all had sexual abuse in their background and I state abuse since they were under age for what they experienced.

the question is asked from a position of one being born gay. That is a false narrative, created to justify this sin. that can be said of the drug addict, the porn addict, the alcoholic, etc... Gay is not a race of people. it is an action and a sexual preference There are people who were gay that are out of homosexual addiction and free from it. The problem is it is not in the forefront do you know why?

Because gays whos so loving and non-bias attack them. I have been a partner of PureLife Ministers a wonderful counseling ministry and deliverance from sexual addiction. The issue is not the issue. There is a lie being told to our youth for the purpose of deceiving them. And many self-professing Christian are enablers not beacons of hope. While those say maybe I can witness to them or be a witness at a wedding or reception there are Christian who see homosexuals come out of the sexual addiction. I have. have you?

the sad thing is the abuse continued and it is not even allowed in some places to be brought up. they have more information on the destruction of a cigarette than that of homosexuality. The Public school system is the worst. The states talk about the Catholic church and its abuses which are many. yet they pale comparison to the Public school system. There is a big difference between the church and the school abuse, you are not required to send your child to the church by law. School you do.

I know only one gay person, but she is also an alcoholic and suffers from various mental diseases. Most of the time she is not eligible for communication.

She doesn’t want to let go of it. We have been praying for her ever since we got to know about it.

But I know that one day she will see Jesus.

yes, tragically both - but, this is the world that we are born into -
in the end, it's best to just do as Jesus has explained and taught us,
'Love your neighbor as yourself' in Christ's name, and all else will eventually
fall into place, if you are sincere and have a true, converted heart, you will be led
and taught His wisdom and understanding and be able to, at some point after your
conversion, be able to help/succor whom ever God puts in your path=your ministry...

oh my, what a grievous, heart-breaking world this is, but, Christ will intervene for His
elect-called-chosen- and give us all the help that we need in order to be
a beacon and a Light that we may show others His paths of righteousness and
how to 'walk there-on'...

Yes instantly cured, delivered, set free, saved, made whole through the baptism of the Holy Spirit [with the Bible evidence of
praying in a new tongue].
I would just say, it may have been the evidence God granted you (speaking in tongues) but it is not everybody's evidence...

And God hath set some in the church, first apostles, secondarily prophets, thirdly teachers, after that miracles, then gifts of healings, helps, governments, diversities of tongues. Are all apostles? are all prophets? are all teachers? are all workers of miracles? Have all the gifts of healing? do all speak with tongues? do all interpret?
(1Co 12:28-30)

But then I am taking this off topic going down that rabbit hole.

Last thought regarding Chemical addiction. Alcohol is much like Opium while there are legitimate uses for each once the disease of addiction takes over the body and mind and the allergic reaction that triggers the irresistible craving kicks in the victim can never us that chemical again. I some is say a Vicodin addict and has been clean for 20 years they are not considered cured because a back injury and a small amount of say Oxycontin that a normal person should be able to tolerate can start the viscous cycle of addiction over again. Thus they were never cured from a medical stand point. Their disease was merely arrested. Alcoholism works exactly the same way! On the other hand;

Homosexuality is not the same being there is no metabolic component. It's mainly psychological. Many, (like me) believe that they can be un-brainwashed and live a happy, normal, life. Miracles can and do suddenly happen. In my experience they are the exception to the general rule.

The term 'hit bottom' is often used to describe what it takes to become willing to change. Once we have got so beaten, pushed around and knocked down by or disease's the only direction we can look is up. We have given up on self will and are willing to surrender to Gods will and we do. The recovery process can begin, in earnest. This time with God in control and when 'I' say God... His name is Jesus.

Edits in blue, it is too important not to correct.

Alcohol is much like Opium while there are legitimate uses for each, once the disease of addiction takes over the body and mind, the allergic reaction that triggers irresistible cravings kick in, the victim can never use that chemical again. In some say; a Vicodin addict, has been clean for 20 years but they are not considered cured because, a back injury and a small amount of say; Oxycontin, that a normal person should be able to tolerate can restart the viscous cycle of addiction. Thus they were never cured, from a medical stand point. Their disease was merely arrested. Alcoholism works exactly the same way! On the other hand;

Homosexuality is not the same because there is no metabolic component or alergy. It's mainly psychological. Many people (like me) believe that they can be un-brainwashed. Good point, I wish the title of the thread can change, before anyone else think that cc com is ok with gay wedding, just because the two words keep popping up

Other than to the title, I'm fine

Perhaps "sinful wedding dilemma Ricky is struggling with" is a better title to the thread
Thread title is concise and to the point. No need to change anything.

From a purely scientific perspective, there is an innate neurological preference for the same sex in homosexual men. That says nothing about belief and faith, that's just objective evidence. Neither political nor representational. Just a fact.
Well this is just a scientific paper that says they are born sinners. We don’t need scientists to tell ANY of us that! We all are. I was born with the desire to sleep with just about all women. Because I have that desire does that make it ok to obey my fleshly desires?

So what if they are born with the desire to commit unspeakable sexual acts with their saw sex. They, like us, need Jesus, not to be told their vile desires are ok.

I thought I had Christ, but then someone said all I believed was wrong.
Do not buy any drivel and or blather that opposes saved by grace through faith....anyone that embellishes the message beyond that is a deceiver........

I am totally lost now. I thought we were saved by Grace. Now someone says no it isn’t so, and that I am so wrong that I am like a heretic. I only said we needed Jesus to be saved. Isn’t that right? Or does it take more than Jesus? Is it my words being twisted or am I twisting other people’s words?

I am so confused.
I am with you I don't even know what some of them are talking about now so far off the should I go to my gay nephews wedding.... The ones that have joined in the latter part of the thread are the site argument lovers and it just keeps running into a circle. They don't believe that we are to love one another and tell me I'm all fluff and lovey dovey… Don't love them pound on them with the Bible in hand and tell them to repent or burn....

I don't get that philosophy at all... I'm just the lovey fluff one and will keep trying to show the love even to the ones beating their heads against the brick wall.
