I canāt drive but itās not such a problem in the UK.
I live 10 mins by bus from work place.
15 mins by bus from home to church, nearest large hospital, and the city
centre (where the train station is).
15 min walk to the nearest large supermarket.
10 mins by taxi to the nearest large (as in very large) parks, stately homes, bird garden.
5 min walk to my local doctors
I did try driving lessons when I was 17, the instructor chain smoked the
entire time. It was before the laws came in about passive smoking.
Couldnāt see where I was going through the thick fog! Didnāt like her very
much either. Although apparently my hill starts weāre really good and we
use manual (I think they are called stick shifts in the US).
I donāt think I would make a very good car driver to be honest.
In a heavy down pour of rain, I was a passenger in a car and suggested maybe
we should stop until the rain stopped - they were rather amused.
Once I was map reading and giving directions (before sat nav) I kept telling
the car driver to stop so I could have a proper look ar the road street names.
I also tend to get north and south bound mixed up on motor ways!
Iām pretty good at driving a shopping trolley and dodgem cars though. I can crash
real good!
