Would any of these apply?

Convenience?
family?
If your gifts weren't appreciated?
Bad doctrine?
The others offers better coffee?
The music is way too loud..?
Bullying?

Or...are you the faithful and loyal member who has gone to the same church fellowship your whole life. No matter what happens around you. Just wondering. I mean to be a pillar of such a church, you must go there for a very long time I would imagine. Please you thoughts, esp if youve been attending church for more than ten years.

back in 2012, I was attending a church I was not in love with, but it was o,k, that was a presidential election year, and about late September, the pastor announced that he wanted to lead us in several weeks of fasting and praying that Obama be voted out.

so, I do not know what happened with that as I was out after that sun.

Bad doctrine.. especally if it was in rebellion against a core doctrine of salvation..
Bullying would probably make me leave but i would seek out another church with the same teachings..

The rest would not bother me..
If i did not like the music i would wear ear plugs.
Who needs coffee at church?
family.. My family is the body of Christ..
Gifts.. We should give secretly so that we recieve no praise from people..

When a church is privy or they don't clearly mention what their doctrines are. When the doctrines they speak satisfies the flesh instead of the spirit. When they focus on preaching about tithing and the prosperity gospel.

2 Peter 2:2-3

2 But there were false prophets also among the people, even as there shall be false teachers among you, who privily shall bring in damnable heresies, even denying the Lord that bought them, and bring upon themselves swift destruction.

2 And many shall follow their pernicious ways; by reason of whom the way of truth shall be evil spoken of.

3 And through covetousness shall they with feigned words make merchandise of you: whose judgment now of a long time lingereth not, and their damnation slumbereth not.

Matt 24:11,24

11 And many false prophets shall rise, and shall deceive many.

24 For there shall arise false Christs, and false prophets, and shall shew great signs and wonders; insomuch that, if it were possible, they shall deceive the very elect.

The teaching of false doctrine, inconsistency or hypocrisy in the leadership, resistance to being corrected, or an overemphasis on informational messages rather than on teaching from Scripture would all lead me out of a fellowship.

I have left churches for some of these reasons.

The last one, what happenes if you do give secretly, but then someone actually finds out you give and then starts praising you all the time. To the point it becomes embarassing.

Informational messages...like?

I didnt know that informational was a word! You dont mean informal do you? Or informative.

Are they more of a say, motivational speaker like you go to a gathering and if its starts to feel like an amway meeting, I would high tail out of there.
I have been to one amway meeting type meeting before when a workmate convinced me to go and it was as scary as going to a tupperware sales night.

I think different formats draw different kinds of people. My home church where I heard the gospel of my salivation and believed has an excellent format. Luring or drawing out thy soul to the hungry with someone who has not heard the gospel of grace, or a encouragement using the necessary things of this world like bread or coffee (4 cups a day LOL) Pot luck lunches etc in a hope of feeding the flesh while the hope of feeding our new born again soul. This of the true fast spoken of in Isaiah 58. Not a fast for the necessary our dying bodies but a fast of sharing the gospel …... using the temporal things seen to give us the spiritual understanding

The gospel in the parable Isaiah 58, as part of it (verse 6-10). Also using the prescription needed to give the parable understanding in 2 Corinthians 4:18. The temporal reveals the hidden eternal.

Is not this the fast that I have chosen? to loose the bands of wickedness, to undo the heavy burdens, and to let the oppressed go free, and that ye break every yoke? Is it not to deal thy bread to the hungry, and that thou bring the poor that are cast out to thy house? when thou seest the naked, that thou cover him; and that thou hide not thyself from thine own flesh? Then shall thy light break forth as the morning, and thine health shall spring forth speedily: and thy righteousness shall go before thee; the glory of the Lord shall be thy reward. Then shalt thou call, and the Lord shall answer; thou shalt cry, and he shall say, Here I am. If thou take away from the midst of thee the yoke, the putting forth of the finger, and speaking vanity; And if thou draw out thy soul to the hungry, and satisfy the afflicted soul; then shall thy light rise in obscurity, and thy darkness be as the noon day:58: 6-10

The kind of fast called the gospel is the reason the disciples could not cast them out .It is the work of God that men can believe God not seen, as with Timothy the incorruptible seed forming Christ in us .Not of us.

I will offer another demonstration of the work of God working in us to make our heart softer .Using the same prescription; the temporal seen to reveal the eternal spiritual unseen to compare as informed in 1 Corinthians 2. The spiritual unseen to the same place of faith, faith to faith the gospel

My foot hath held his steps, his way have I kept, and not declined. Neither have I gone back from the commandment of his lips; I have esteemed the words of his mouth more than my necessary food. But he is in one mind, and who can turn him? and what his soul desireth, even that he doeth. For he performeth the thing that is appointed for me: and many such things are with him. Therefore am I troubled at his presence: when I consider, I am afraid of him. For God maketh my heart soft, and the Almighty troubleth me: Job 23: 11-16

Same principle with John who was about to get his head chopped off. He had doubts . When he heard the answer he knew it was the true fast spoken of in Isaiah 58 the fast that drew out Johns' soul satisfying his new soul giving John the rest needed to go to his eternal Home.

Luke 7:22 Then Jesus answering said unto them, Go your way, and tell John what things ye have seen and heard; how that the blind see, the lame walk, the lepers are cleansed, the deaf hear, the dead are raised, to the poor the gospel is preached.

hub and I have left a lot of churches behind because of,
lack of Love -
lack of Spiritual understanding -
lack of genuine hospitality -
and, it was really frustrating when you began to realize
that you had spent more time studying the scriptures
than the 'preacher'...

Hmm thats a biggy. There are some churches that tell you to sit at the back if you got children. Or they wont open the doors cos its cold out there. So you literally have to yank the heavy doors open.

I got baptized in water and baptized in the Holy Spirit (and spoke in a new tongue) in a Pentecostal church here in
the northern suburbs of Adelaide, South Australia.
Been here since October 1996

Once I was going through a period of depression and dissatisfaction with my walk and my church and was seriously contemplating
leaving and going elsewhere, maybe to Christian Assemblies International, which have a small assembly in a nearby country town.
But in the voice gifts at a Friday night house meeting in the gift of prophecy God spoke to the meeting and more specifically to me:
'about thinking that the grass is greener in another paddock but this was not always so. I have put you where you need to belong,
and amongst the people you need to be with.'

So I am still here - and yes I got over my momentary depression and dissatisfaction and have been soldiering on ever since.
:)
Would I leave? NO

I really don't like it when people enter the service WITH a coffee and they stand there swaying to the music with a coffee in their hand and the other religiously raised in the air.

?!

Last sunday, there was someone sitting at the back of me eating loud crunchy chips during the service. It was really annoying. If they do that again next time, im not sure what to do.

Maybe I ought to come chewing bubble gum and blow bubbles during the service and see if anyone says says anything?
