Hey!
As the title says, I used to be a pretty active CC user back in 2014. It helped me alot when I was first saved and had the inevitable disconnect from the secular world that came with being saved and testifying to alot of my old friends and family..
So, I ended up alone for awhile, but I'm back!
I hope this helps someone today - I'm really trying to reconnect so please share this/start up some conversation :)!

So, I got saved 4/13/13, at the time I had worshipped satan, I was a meth addict, I was a this, I was honestly a really terrible person, I felt like what Paul described as "the chief of sinners".
I went through some VERY fiery trials for awhile from spiritually wicked high places; crippling panic attacks, suicidal thoughts and depression and doubt of my salvation for what I'd done before being saved, etc.

But I kept my faith, I kept seeking Jesus, I kept looking and praying and yes, I did not live perfectly, but I was eventually set completely free. I'm now living a straight edge life, I've been clean almost two years! My faith is very strong, and I firmly believe Jesus is coming soon.

Tell me a bit about yourself!

Yes a testimony to being converted is most powerful indeed.
In truth I believe the only way to become a real Christian is for a person at an age of understanding to repent and turn to
the salvation offered in the gospel. It is a conscious decision to turn away from the old and to embrace the high calling
of Christ Jesus - to take up one's cross and to deny one's former life.

For myself I was a petty criminal ripping off the system, and totally addicted to speed (a little heroin on occasions), marijuana
morning, noon and night; lots of alcohol (all of it); cigarettes > wine, women and song you might say.
I certainly belonged to Satan and was disgustingly perverse sexually to my shame.

One day coming out of the local shopping centre I encountered a written testimony stuck up on a lavender coloured door that
spoke to an ex-hippy women, Vicki, who was instantly healed from her drug addicted lifestyle and hepatitis C after she believed
the gospel, got water baptized (full immersion) and baptized in the Holy Spirit and spoke in tongues.
I knew in my heart I had arrived at a crossroads. I could either continue on the same road to perdition that I was travelling on,
or I could seek for a new path to travel on; one that had healing and salvation at the end of that journey.
I just knew all of this in an instant deep down inside me. It wasn't in my head. I knew that I wanted to experience what Vicki had
experienced.

To cut a long story short I also repented, believed the full gospel and got water baptized by full immersion. Thirty days later
seeking for the baptism of the Holy Ghost I burst out speaking in tongues and knew with all certainty that Jesus is my Lord
and my God and also that the word of God that I believed is truth.
That very afternoon the power of the Holy Ghost not only enlightened me but washed away all my addictions and lifestyle evils
there and then.
When Jesus said the truth shall set ye free he wasn't joking.
Now for the past 23 years it is an ongoing tug-of-war between the Holy Spirit (the new man) and Satan who wants me back.
so far so good. Nick :)

Welcome back, Cody! You must have left about the time I got here. Such an encouraging testimony. Thanks for sharing. I was raised in a relatively safe environment, but still had to acknowledge I was a sinner, same as you. All have sinned, all need the blood. It is good that we stand here together, at the end of time.

6 And when he come home, he calls together his friends and neighbours, saying unto them,
Rejoice with me; for I have found my sheep which was lost.
7 I say unto you, that likewise joy shall be in heaven over one sinner that repents, more than over
ninety and nine just persons, which need no repentance.
Luke 15:

Absolutely. I don't think alot of folks have a feel for the gravity of that statement! I have honestly cried many times thinking back at what I used to be in light of where I stand today. I need no proof of God, I am proof of God. I do wish I could find some real life acquaintances to fellowship with, but I've had a hard time finding a church that isn't turning to secular doctrines and "acceptance."
Even my mom's old church, just a year ago filled with the spirit, is going down the same road.

Tell me a bit about yourself!
I'm calibob the OP of CRA (Christians in Recovery Anonymous) here on the miscellaneous forum. I am recovering from major depressive disorder, alcohol addiction and a multitude of mental and emotional disorders. As well as disabling Osteo & Rheumatoid arthritis. I'm a 65 year old former crisis and substance abuse counselor. After collaborating with several other CC members we decided a Christian, Christ centered 12 step program, for people with co-occurring disorders, would be in order. So far there's been 3700 views, in 2 months. The idea is a comprehensive program that addresses more than addiction or mood and affective disorders that follows the basic 12 step model used for 80 years. By AA, NA, CMA, Emotions and Dual Recovery Anonymous as well as Celebrate Recovery and the Bible. @Magenta left you a link below her beautiful Welcome to CC panel. Just drop by anytime. All are welcome to read or share.

“Reserve a daily time with God for self-examination, Bible reading, and prayer, in order to know God and His will for my life and to gain the power to follow His will.”

“We sought through prayer and meditation to improve our conscious contact with God, praying only for knowledge of His will for us and power to carry that out.”

Colossians 3:16 New International Version (NIV)
16 Let the message of Christ dwell among you richly as you teach and admonish one another with all wisdom through psalms, hymns, and songs from the Spirit, singing to God with gratitude in your hearts.
  • Be thankful to God.
  • Be thankful for others.
  • Be thankful for your recovery.
  • Be thankful for your church.
We thank God for you and for the opportunity to carry the message. Welcome back and please keep comming back!
