one thing i believe is that God draws people with love and he deals with people on different levels if this was a "babe" in christ then she might not understand that what she is wearing is not appropriate, God has already dealt with you on the way you dress but you can't tell a "babe" in Christ anything that could stop her longing for God and getting closer to to him. and it really depends on your motive . if your motive is to seduce than it's wrong but, that's why us older more seasoned christian teach the babes about these things
 
I'm a 16 year guy old just so you know who this is coming from. Man, all I'm hearing from princessdeb is how your gonna burn in hell for wearing a shortskirt. Quick question lady, who do you think Jesus hung out with when he walked around the earth? The biblical scholars? The wisemen? How about the hookers and drunks and your probably not completely innocent yourself. It says "All have sinned and fallen short of the glory of God" but your willing to pass judgment on to someone else? You dont have a right. Yes, I agree that girls dressing a certain way can provoke guys into lust, but saying that jesus is gonna send you too hell for that is kind of rediculous. God accepts people as they are and by the way, lately the clothing selection for girls isnt really that great. So please be a little less judgmental. Thats not becoming of a good christian.:(

Who are we to condemn someone to hell? The only person I know who has that power is Jesus Christ.

Thanks. Sadly I've noticed that there are many Christians who are quick to condemn people to hell. I just leave it up to Jesus. We don't get paid enough to get that job o deciding.
 
If you wouldn't wear it in front of God himself, then don't wear it. :D

But they seem to think God is very uptight...and I really don't think so.

and I'm coming more to terms with my weird sense of humor, because He made it.
 
Thank you folks for agreeing with me (hope that doesnt sound too haughty) But I get worked up sometimes when people start screaming at kids how they have too "TURN OR BURN" and thats just not God in my opinion. God is a loving god and accepts everyone.

By the way thats a beautiful way of looking at it. God made you a one of a kind person and I love it when people look at it that way, it makes me happy
 
I dress pretty conservative, but it is different for everyone. If you want teen males to look at you by wearing low cut tops but you have to remember that you are also attracting the attention of the 80 year old men as well. Just something to think about.
 
As a guy, I wish that everyone dressed modestly. It's very easy to just drop your gaze a few centimeters, and then you're guilty of lust and thinking unpure thoughts. This may just be a personal problem; I don't know if other Christian teens are the same way.
 
Our intentions are very important, but not just our intentions. Most of the reason it's even an issue is because of lust, and we have to be considerate of others, even if it means maybe feeling uncomfortable or uncool sometimes. It is hard sometimes to know what's inapropriate, and it's sometimes hard to be so different, but that's just part of the walk.

I don't think it's right to condem people to hell for things, but it is good to guide lovingly. But we can't be all "holier than thou" about it either..
 
Recently there was another thread about a Holy Swimsuit. I started thinking and it led me to this site which gives a brief history of the swimsuit evolution. Victorian Clothing: The History of the Bathing Suit

When I was younger I used to wear short shorts. I thought it was cute and didnt care much about attracting attention. Now that I am older, and thankfully a believer in Christ. I care much more about my body and the attention that it may attract if I reveal too much. I know there are people that are perves and are going to look at you no matter what you wear, but at the same time why would I give their brains and lusting hearts extra ammunition? Also we have Brothers out here who don't have lust in their hearts but if you are walking around with more skin showing than clothes on you can trip him up, not because he a perve but skin and certain body parts trigger those thoughts.

I think that overtime we have let changes in the World, change us and our standards. So one may say that knee length is short enuf another may say mid thigh, but where does that end. Because another may say "as long as my cheeks aren't out..." You get my drift. Where are our standards?

Because there is no specific rule for what modesty looks like we have to make our decisions for ourselves. But please make your decision wisely. Be respectful of your body as well as respectful of others eyes.

i agree with you on everything exept on the cleavage part lol. i just dislike the showing body parts it gets us guys really big temptations,

god made girls they way they are why not show it off guys do. we have our shirts of all the time. professorial male swimmers swim in less than girls do! dont go putting on long desses and hoodies thats dum. dont dress like a ho cus that will cus lustfull men to chase you but if you dress how you do more people will be attracted to you and its up to you if you want the attention..

trust me it makes not difference they are noticeable weather the tops low or not. god would have made woman with no boobs if he intended for them not to me seen????

other teens do feel the same way because every one does. it not up to girls to dess so guys dont sin!!! thats our problem the difference between attraction and lust.
 
here's my take on it *clears throat* ahem... well in my opinion I dont think there is nothing wrong so long as ur decent. too showy and most guys who dont have self control and let their carnal mind overtake them might stumble, but to other guys whit no lustful intent wont affect them. it really depends on how showy u are and what kinda "thinker" a person is if they see you, but just my opinion :D
 
all i have to say is dont judge a book by its cover you have the right to wear what you like why would be sinful just because some people will be looking at you im a guy and i mostly wear tshirt and jeans and i got whistled by a girl commented saying i have cute butt and squeezed it and i wasnt wearing a short skirt to show it of so it really doesnt matter what people wear ive worn woman clothing twice in my life how many of you are going to judge me

But dont you think God wants us to look respectable meaning that we should carry ourselves in a way that doesnt bring undesirable attention. There will always be a few pervs outhere but for the mass majority of people who are not, certain things will encite lusts.

I think its our responsibility to be as blameless as possible for that type of seduction.

Ex. your t shirt and jeans may not be enticing and that girl was a perv. But on the other hand if you are constantly getting unwanted sexual advances you must ask yourself, "Why does this keep happening to me?" And more than likely its not because your face is so cute. (not you but most people) If you can stop this then by all means you should do so. If you don't want to stop the attention then you have another problem all together.
