Also keep in mind that many gospel preaching denominations use creeds as part of the service. They have stood the test of time and no fault has been found in them. So only reject them if they are in error!!

The Bible is the source of belief for Christians. There are many books for sale in Christian stores to help people understand the Bible better. One important type is a systematic theology book. It lists a wide range of topics and gives every verse in the Bible on that topic. Are you saying we shouldn't buy any of them? I defy you to pick a topic and find every verse relating to that topic only using the Bible. You would have to read from Genesis to Revelations and write down the verses for later reference. Only when every verse on a topic is understood can a Biblical understanding be found.

I have looked at the major pentecostal denominations such as Assemblies of God, Foursquare, Church of God, and they all claim the initial evidence as one of their core doctrines.
The Foursquare church I attended did not claim this. In fact they were very adamant that not everyone will exhibit this particular gift.

Again, if you wish to take the opinion of men which is what is in books and creeds over the Word of God, that is your choice.
I will only believe what the Word of God teaches.
I may not be the most educated or smartest person, but with prayer, proper study and the guiding of the Holy Spirit I can learn all God would have me to know.

Opinions of men (creeds and commentaries) lead to heresy.

I get very tired of those rejecting out of hand what the early elders created to define what a Christian must believe and anything contrary is heresy. Why do you think that so many churches use the creeds as part of their service?

6 I marvel that ye are so soon removed from him that called you into the grace of Christ unto another gospel:
7 Which is not another; but there be some that trouble you, and would pervert the gospel of Christ.
8 But though we, or an angel from heaven, preach any other gospel unto you than that which we have preached unto you, let him be accursed.
9 As we said before, so say I now again, If any man preach any other gospel unto you than that ye have received, let him be accursed.
Galatians 1:
2 This only would I learn of you, Received ye the Spirit by the works of the law, or by the hearing of faith?
3 Are ye so foolish? having begun in the Spirit, are ye now made perfect by the flesh?
Galatians 3:
I would ask, and what other "gospel" might that be? What other "mediator" other than that as it is written as the Christ our teacher.

I have noticed some confusion as it seems between the use of the words signs or wonders or when used together "signs and wonders". There are signs like signs of the times and there are signs and wonders . Or signs as wonders.

The sign and, or sign..... as a "wonder" gospel. Is it a gospel? It seems the "wonderment" or mystery can become a source of faith that draws some away. We must be careful with signs. They are used in two ways and are easy to turn upside down and take away the understanding of the other.

I think it is what the faithless Jews who followed a "law of the fathers" and Kings like in Jerimiah 44. Those who refused to hear prophecy and saw no evil in doing so. But rather did whatsoever their owns mouths declared. Showing they have no faith in God .To them seeing is believing or the kingdom does come by observation. Like Cain who murdered the misperceived competition as in out of sight out of mind.

Isaiah 29:16Surely your turning of things upside down shall be esteemed as the potter's clay: for shall the work say of him that made it, He made me not? or shall the thing framed say of him that framed it, He had no understanding?

The doctrines of God fall from above. The doctrines of men as a law of the fathers turns that upside down as earthly inspired of the father of lies. .

Seeing is believing as "sign gift" confirms a person has seen the "sign". Nothing more and nothing less. . Metphors like "drink poison" "speak in new tongues" etc as a group that altogether follow after as a sign someone has heard the gospel and believes. They are not to be sought after. Again like a one way street they follow the sign. .. Just study to see what the sign of tongues confirms then the rest of the doctrine will fall into place and accomplish it purpose as a sign of unbelief to the whole world.

Not a sign to separate the Jew from the gentile as if God was a respecter of the clay, seeing he owns the whole field. Look at the great mixture he has created from two. We are to know no man after the flesh just as our heavenly father.

Its never about flesh and blood but that in which we will be the unseen.

Maybe because they are lazy or just ain't smart enough to study and learn for themselves.

You seem to be deliberately misunderstanding my point. You have never posted where there is any error in the creeds. Until the printing press Bibles were very expensive and rare. Only a rich man could afford one. A church with enough adherents might be able to afford one. Therefore the early elders used memorizing as a tool. They created the creeds to proclaim the beliefs required of a Christian. Before rejecting what has been found Biblical for approaching 2,000 years I suggest you define where it is in error considering many denominations use them in their service. I attended one church where the Apostles Creed was stated by the congregation. You keep ranting against what a very large segment of Christianity finds Biblical.

Question.
What would you use to tell a non Christian you are witnessing to what a Christian must believe. That is the purpose of the creeds!!

Someone should of helped them define the word "heresy' But its does help us understansd Catholisisim another manner of spirit not from above it was at the root making the word of God without effect. Just change the meaning of one word and add to it a new meaning..

The Bible says there must be heresies among us or else how would we know which ones are seeking after his approval and not that of man. He warns us of the antichrists.. its there method of operation. saying... You must have a man seen teach you. A place where even the son of man, Jesus refused to stand as the Holy place of the father , he gave glory to the unseen holy place and said only God is the good teaching master. No man can serve two. We are to call no man on earth teacher, One is in heaven just as with the word father.

Three signs which were for Jews ended with the completion of the NT. Foolishness of preaching, foolish to those who perish but the grace of God to those who are saved thereby.

For the cause of Christ
Roger
You made that up with no verses or evidence.
It's like saying singing ended.
Because my leaders say so. And i know it's true because all the singing now is fake.
They only needed singing back then to get the gospel out.
But my real knowledge on the subject is that i don't sing,so i know singing is fake.

Oh brother....

As you could know the word of God was not perfect until the NT was given by inspiration of God. The apostles had only the OT from which to preach Christ.

Yours is of course the unbiblical position.

Do you have assurance of salvation apart from your prayer tongues? Do you really trust the word of God?

Don't let your hatred of me carry you away.

For the cause of Christ
Roger
In those banner cessationist verses,it says "knowledge will cease".
Your teachers think they are clever.
"When the perfect comes" is in no way " the bible"
It even says in revelation it is incomplete.
Your teachers duped you.

From their website .... you must be referring to item 10

What the Foursquare Gospel Church Believes
1. The Holy Scriptures We believe that the Bible is Godinspired (2 Timothy 3:16, 17).
2. The Eternal Godhead We believe that God is Triune: Father, Son and Holy Spirit (2 Corinthians 13:14).
3. The Fall of Man We believe that man is created in the image of God but that by voluntary disobedience fell from perfection, thereby imputing sinfulness to all human beings (Romans 5:12).
4. The Plan of Salvation We believe that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us, signing the pardon for all who believe in Him (John 3:16; Romans 5:8).
5. Salvation through Grace We believe that we receive salvation when we come to God through faith in the atoning work of Jesus on the cross; salvation is God’s gift to us (Ephesians 2:8).
6. Repentance and Acceptance We believe that, upon sincere repentance and a whole-hearted acceptance of Christ, we are justified before God (Romans 10:8-10; 1 John 1:9).
7. The New Birth We believe that a very real change takes place in people who accept Christ as Savior; believers allow Christ’s life to be lived through them (2 Corinthians 5:17; Galatians 2:20).
8. Daily Christian Life We believe that it is the will of God for believers to walk in progressive sanctification, growing continuously in the faith (Hebrews 6:1).
9. Baptism and the Lord’s Supper We believe that baptism by immersion is an outward sign of an inward work (Matthew 28:19; Romans 6:4). We believe in the commemoration of the Lord’s Supper by the symbolical use of bread and the fruit of the vine (1 Corinthians 11:24, 25).
10. Baptism with the Holy Spirit We believe that the baptism with the Holy Spirit empowers believers and that the Holy Spirit’s incoming follows the same pattern that is described in the New Testament (Acts 2:4).
11. The Spirit-filled Life We believe that it is the will of God that we daily walk in the power of the Holy Spirit (Ephesians 4:30-32).
12. The Gifts and Fruit of the Spirit We believe that the Holy Spirit has gifts to bestow upon Christians (1 Corinthians 12:1-11), and that we should show spiritual fruit as evidence of a Spirit-filled life (Galatians 5:22-25).
13. Moderation We believe that people who follow Christ should avoid the extremes of fanaticism and pursue lives of balance and moderation, demonstrating gentleness and patience (Philippians 4:5, KJV; Colossians 3:12, 13).
14. Divine Healing We believe that divine healing is the power of Christ to heal the sick in answer to the prayer of faith (James 5:14-16).
15. The Second Coming of Christ We believe that the second coming of Christ is personal and imminent (1 Thessalonians 4:16, 17; Titus 2:11-13).
16. Church Relationship We believe that followers of Christ have a sacred duty to identify with the visible church of Jesus Christ and should meet regularly with fellow believers (Hebrews 10:24, 25).
17. Civil Government We believe that laws and ordinances come from God’s ultimate author-ity and should be upheld, except when they are in opposition to the revealed will of God (Romans 13:1-5).
18. The Final Judgment We believe every person will one day stand before the judgment seat of Christ to receive eternal life or death (Revelation 20:11-15; Hebrews 9:27; 2 Corinthians 5:10).
19. Heaven We believe that heaven is the glorious eternal home of born-again believers (John 14:1-3; Revelation 7:15-17).
20. Hell We believe that hell is the place of eternal torment for all who reject Christ as Savior (Revelation 20:10-15).
21. Evangelism We believe that the church’s primary responsibility is taking the gospel to the entire world and making disciples (Mark 16:15; Matthew 28:19-20).
22. Tithes and Offerings We believe the method ordained of God for the support and spread of His cause is giving tithes and offerings (Malachi 3:10; 2 Corinthians 9:7).

Did you know…? The term “Foursquare” stands for the four-fold ministry of Jesus Christ as the Savior (Romans 10:9), Baptizer with the Holy Spirit (Luke 3:16), Healer (1 Peter 2:24), and Coming King (Acts 1:11). The Foursquare Church, officially the International Church of the Foursquare Gospel, was founded in Los Angeles, California, by Aimee Semple McPherson in 1923. Amid the revival days of the early 1900s, this fellowship of believers was born, determined to proclaim the solid scriptural core of Pentecostal renewal, avoiding the extremes of fanaticism on one hand and materialism on the other. God, in His grace, has allowed us to grow from the one local fellowship to more than 65,000 churches and meeting places in approximately 140 countries. These numbers are rapidly increasing. We have no desire to compete or compare. We rejoice with every body of believers which lifts the bloodstained banner of Jesus Christ. The Foursquare Church is a member of the National Association of Evangelicals (NAE) and, as a Pentecostal Church, is affiliated with the Pentecostal-Charismatic Churches of North America (PCCNA) and the Pentecostal World Fellowship.

***

The one I attended (Church on the Way, Van Nuys CA) encouraged but never insisted that everyone speak in a tongue, based upon Paul's other assertion that not everyone will. But they did believe everyone would manifest at least one gift, based upon the lesson that we all have a part in the body to play.

That is incortrect doctrine and poor teaching - unscriptural.
All who are baptized in the Holy Spirit shall speak in a new tongue. Jesus declared this to be so.

Why dont we list all the pentecostal type churches so we can research this or ask ppl that belong to these churches.

Have you looked up Apostolic church.

I sometimes get confused between charismatic and pentecostal churches. Charism means gift so in those types of churches they encourage gifts to operate...but it seems within the mainstream types of denominations.

The pentecostal churches seem a bit apart from the main stream like they are newly planted and not merely revived now with extra brand new gifts.

Stay within a main stream church if the gifts bother you, when new christians receive them they get all excited, but often they just dont know how to use them properly...and that sometimes makes for chaos.

I know some have just fallen off the wagon and become very woo-woo as if every word uttered is some great prophecy but even back in the early church if you read the book of acts there were charlatans counterfeiting gifts and claiming miracles and prophetic words when they were actually just using divination and sorccery. Dont believe everything you hear you got to test those spirits.
