You cessationists are a joke.
here you are on CC denying the truth of scripture, the gospel and Pentecost while Jesus is completely ignoring your protests
and out in the real world thousands and thousands of people are embracing both water baptism and Holy Spirit baptism with
the evidence of speaking in new tongues; and enjoying numerous miracles and healings immediately.

God cares not for your unbelief.

Let be clear. Not trying to be rude or such, but trying to understand what is acceptable and what is not.

ok

I was thinking about this:

“And Peter said to them, ‘Repent, and let each of you be baptized in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins; and you shall receive the gift of the Holy Spirit.’” Acts 2:38

which was quoted

but you cannot make a doctrine out of one verse and you have to compare with other scripture. which does not say this

so then why does this verse say this should be the conversation if people want to have one

I don't know for sure EG. This all happened years ago. But, I do know from the rumors....they were healed.

The one I read about was his own wife. This was in the book I have here. His wife had died and he wouldn't let her go. He kept picking her up and making her stand against the wall until she came back to life. The last time she passed, she told him to let her go.

I would have to find the story to quote it accurately because like all stories they tend to get jumbled up some way when trying to recite them from memory.

But, I would ask you to do something some time EG. When you go to pray for someone who is sick, or needs ministry some way....fast 7 seven days and see what happens.

This is why I tend to believe Wigglesworth might of punched some one in the stomach. I won't post publicly anymore about these things. And no I never punched anyone.
So who then is the one who heals?
Our system? special healer? Special programs? Is it not always the Lord.
Do we not rule over God if we use programs and systems of prayer ore fastings?
God is acting individual. But we humans always try to manipulat

Something we should all consider-------
Many people from many different lifestyles.
Some are highly educated while others never finished HS.
Some living is cities, exposed to many lifestyles while others from the backwoods without much exposure to the rest of the world.
This causes a very different outlook on the world, what is acceptable behavior, speech, rudeness, and not acceptable.

Not trying to make excuses for bad behavior, but we all could be more understanding and have a thicker skin.

This is my opinion.

I don't want to read into why one would think it is ok, I would say God has asked some to do some crazy things that would get us thrown in jail today LOL

kill your son
spit make mud and put it in a person's eye
call a woman a dog
kill women and child

I would not take a body out of casket drop the body three times until it came to life either LOL. But the end result produced glory to God. Now could it be SW acted on his own? have any of us ever done that? I would think so. maybe not to the extreme but in a way that would bring some scoffing or mocking?
Well there was a reason God killed his son..lol But I dee your point,

if (and I mean if, I have not seen proof yet) he did some of the things they said. I would hope we would at least question it. But yeah..

By the way, Its nice to have a civil conversation, thank you.

well thank you

you missed my humor obviously though

no I don't agree if he is saying we receive forgiveness in water baptism

please remember my background is neither Pentecostal or Charismatic

I don't know... maybe some churches teach this?

I see people accepting Christ, being baptized in water and later infilling with the Holy Spirit or infilling first and water later....it seems to me there are differing examples of this in Acts

at this point I'm gonna say like the blind man who received his sight

I don't know about that. All I know is I accepted Christ, was water baptized and later received the 'baptism of the Holy Spirit' and with years in between.

I have actually questioned things in this forum with regards to my own beliefs and earnestly prayed and told God it can get confusing with all people say they believe and find in scripture

if you can bear with me a moment, cause I have to question something being quoted from scripture, I would like to get back to this in a bit. thanks for your response

so I have no problem saying I was wrong about what I said...but I don't think it's a hill to die on:whistle:
Thats right, Your Lutheran right? (I could be wrong) I wish we would get off what denomination people follow and just discuss the word. I think we would have much less mistaken or preconcieved ideas about what others believe

actually I was baptized as an infant in a Lutheran church but never attended

when I was 5, my parents started attending an evangelical church and that was where I was saved at 5 ... accepted Christ and yes it stuck...later baptized in water at around 13 or 14 and the baptized in the Holy Spirit at 18

but been to many churches and denoms over the years

since you asked. I'm not even sure what Lutherans believe

God cares not for your unbelief.
Yes God cares not for unbelief, the confirming sign of tongues. Tongues one of the manners of prophecy that confirms unbelief in the heart of natural man, born of corrupted flesh and spirit.

Which gospel?

Pentecost, noise and visual sign gift as wonders. That gospel as seen? (seeing is believing) Or of the spiritual gifts( not seen) that do witness to our new spirits that we are children of God.

The time of reformation had come as the gospel according to the spirit of holiness, by the resurrection from the dead: .Or fifty days later where a person can confirm they have something by making a noise or falling back or whatsoever their oral tradition declares.

I would ask. What does the sign of tongues in 1 Corinthians 14 as a law established in Isiah 28 confirm? I say it confirms unbelief in the heart of men .And yet for all that they still refuse to believe in a invisible God.

What do you say and not others?

Romans 1:4And declared to be the Son of God with power, according to the spirit of holiness, by the resurrection from the dead:

Not 50 days later. The outpouring of the unseen gift..

God cares not for your unbelief.
Perhaps your god does not care but God Who is God cared enough to send His Son to die on the cross to atone for your sin while you were in unbelief. God loved you when you did not love God.

Jesus Christ is the center of our salvation not tongues or signs and wonders. Any religion that places more emphasis on things than on Christ is worshipping idols and not God.

For the cause of Christ

So this is how we get saved?
The Word always confirms itself:

After listening to Peter and believing that Jesus was the messiah whom was crucified, those present were upset and asked what THEY MUST DO. Peter DID NOT say, “Nothing else needed. You are good to go; you believe the message. Peter’s response to their question was to give instructions that everyone must follow after believing in the Lord Jesus. The instructions are recorded in Acts 2:36-42:

Therefore let all the house of Israel know assuredly, that God hath made that same Jesus, whom ye have crucified, both Lord and Christ.
Now when they heard this, they were pricked in their heart, and said unto Peter and to the rest of the apostles, Men and brethren, what shall we do?
Then Peter said unto them, Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost.
For the promise is unto you, and to your children, and to all that are afar off, even as many as the Lord our God shall call.
And with many other words did he testify and exhort, saying, Save yourselves from this untoward generation.
Then they that gladly received his word were baptized: and the same day there were added unto them about three thousand souls.

It is recorded that both Gentiles and Samaritans also followed Peter’s life giving message of belief, repentance, water and Holy Ghost baptism: (Acts 10:44-48; Acts 8:12; 14-17)

Notice Peter’s interaction with the Jewish leaders concerning what the Angel of the Lord told Cornelius, a Gentile, to do. He was told to seek out Peter who would tell thee words (explain) what he must do to be saved. (Acts 11:13-14)

Why would Peter command that Cornelius and others be water baptized if it was not a part of salvation?: “Can any man forbid water, that these should not be baptized, which have received the Holy Ghost as well as we? And he commanded them to be baptized in the name of the Lord.” Acts 10:47-48

Lastly, individual disciples at Ephesus were given and received the same message from Paul. (Acts 19) This account specifically points to the fact that water baptism must be done in Jesus name. If water baptism did not play a part in salvation it would not be necessary to re-baptize these disciples in water at all.

Due to the multiple recorded examples one should realize that no individual is exempt from following the command given by God through Peter. Every individual throughout history has been/or is a descendant of one of the groups noted; ie, Jews, Gentiles, Samaritans.

Keep in mind that Peter's instructions included the fact that "...the promise is unto you, and to your children, and to all that are afar off, even as many as the Lord our God shall call. I believe it is an accurate statement to say, God is still calling people.

Try not to get discouraged. Plant and water those biblical seeds and God that will take over and give the increase/understanding. (1 Cor 3:7)

"For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways, and my thoughts than your thoughts.
For as the rain cometh down, and the snow from heaven, and returneth not thither, but watereth the earth, and maketh it bring forth and bud, that it may give seed to the sower, and bread to the eater:
So shall my word be that goeth forth out of my mouth: it shall not return unto me void, but it shall accomplish that which I please, and it shall prosper in the thing whereto I sent it." Isaiah 55:9-11

My post 1378 explains how Peter's instructions were followed by all people. Also keep in mind that Paul mentions concepts pertaining to Peter's initial instructions as well: (Rom 6:3-5, 1 Cor 1:15-16, 1 Cor 12:13, Gal 3:27, Eph 4:4-5, Col 2:12, Titus 3:5-6, Heb 4:1-2)
Notice Ananias' instructions to Paul regarding salvation: (Acts 22:15-16)
Check out 1 Peter 3:20-21.

People can believe that Jesus died for their sins and stop there.
Or, they can believe that Jesus died for their sins and by faith be obedient to the God-inspired instructions given by Peter.
