God sent his son to save us from himself, and it seems to me that only an elect few are shown God's true power thus leading to salvation. My question is:
1. is this true?
2. Why does god only pick certain people?
3. Can man choose God on his own or must God plant the seed first?
1) No

2) Jesus said Many are called Few are chosen... Many people reject the calling of God..

3) Gods Holy Spirit does first work upon people and God Choses those who respond positivly to that call..

In the Book of Revelation the Apostle John is shown the crowd of people who where saved during the end times tribulation.. Note how many people there where..

Revelation 7: KJV
9 "After this I beheld, and, lo, a great multitude, which no man could number, of all nations, and kindreds, and people, and tongues, stood before the throne, and before the Lamb, clothed with white robes, and palms in their hands; {10} And cried with a loud voice, saying, Salvation to our God which sitteth upon the throne, and unto the Lamb. {11} And all the angels stood round about the throne, and about the elders and the four beasts, and fell before the throne on their faces, and worshipped God, {12} Saying, Amen: Blessing, and glory, and wisdom, and thanksgiving, and honour, and power, and might, be unto our God for ever and ever. Amen. {13} And one of the elders answered, saying unto me, What are these which are arrayed in white robes? and whence came they? {14} And I said unto him, Sir, thou knowest. And he said to me, These are they which came out of great tribulation, and have washed their robes, and made them white in the blood of the Lamb."

So a vast crowd so large that no man could number it... More then just a few will be saved..

i feel that just the fact i was born is proof God hates me lolz

they say life is a gift, but if given the choice i bet many would not accept that gift and say "no i dont want to be born"

but God does also love us. He sent His son to die on the cross for our sins. when we put our faith in Him we are saved and receive glorified bodies that are perfect.

so my answer is, yes and no like someone said before. God is not like a rock, He is complex and He can love and hate in measure at same time i believe.

1. Yes
2. God chooses the weak to show His Strength. Most people don't like that. Pride of Life problems...
3. Without Christ, men can do nothing.

Have you heard the term hate the sin, love the sinner?

I think God is kind of like that...

The part in red above is absolutely wrong. God sent His son to save us from SIN. God doesn't only pick certain people. He picks ALL of us, but it's up to us whether to claim or reject Him.

1. It is NOT true that God chooses some for salvation and others for damnation.

2. The reason for the preaching of the Gospel is to draw ALL men to Christ.

3. When the Gospel is preached God works on human hearts and minds to bring them to salvation.

4. But each one must believe and obey the Gospel in order to be saved.

Blue is right on target IMO. If you view Father as someone we need to be saved from, your foundation is off in the beginning and anything built on it is not built on truth.

Father sent His Son that we might be able to live forever with Him. It's His will that all be saved. But, is up to us to receive. The true gospel is hidden from your view.

Father loves you. Jesus loves you. Holy Spirit wants to save you.

There are people who claim to be followers of Christ and use his name. They also perform miracles but Christ looks at their hearts. He knows who are his.
the way I see it, there’s two choices one left one right, this below is the left one.
step wisely swing true

Matt 7:22
22Many will say to Me on that day,‘Lord, Lord, did we not prophesy in Your name, and in Your name drive out demons and perform many miracles?’ 23Then I will tell them plainly, ‘I never knew you; depart from Me, you workers of lawlessness!’

I’m thinking they must of believed to even use his name I would think I don’t know though
You are asking if there are certain people deceived into think they serve Christ but really do not? Yes, it is possible. Jesus said: "By their fruits you will know them." (see Matt. 7:20).

Those in that example did were not serving the Lord but were doing this for their own selfish gains and the praise of men.

Same actions, different motives:
Luke 9:50-51
“Master,” said John, “we saw someone driving out demons in your name and we tried to stop him, because he is not one of us.”

“Do not stop him,” Jesus said, “for whoever is not against you is for you.”

UMMMMMMMM wow...ok......here is the truth

a. God would have ALL men be saved and come to the knowledge of the truth
b. God takes no pleasure in the death of the wicked
c. Day unto day and night unto night testifies to man to the extent they are without excuse
d. Jesus paid for the sins of the WHOLE WORLD
e. Even the invisible TESTIFIES
f. Christ is the savior of ALL men, especially those that BELIEVE
g. For GOD so loved the KOSMOS <---WHOLE order of things
h. It is not that we LOVED GOD, but that he LOVED US and GAVE HIMSELF FOR US
I. MANY are called, but few chosen
j. ETC.....

Look.....God knows the end from the beginning and he KNOWS who will believe and who will not....he is not obligated by men and or their decisions....and for sure he does not need to call one that will reject it!

That idea that "God hates us", and salvation is only about " God saving us from himself" is not a way a Christian usually thinks of salvation.

I've never heard a Christian who came up with that line of reasoning on his own.
That line of reasoning is generally a way of framing the issue which is used by atheists to attack Christianity.

So, although there ARE biblical answers to your questions, I'm very curious about WHO gave you these particular ideas?
