I would tend to believe the Greek definition over someone's opinion noted in a magazine.
Strongs gives the definitions of the two Greek words and how to discern between the two. Preset biases are difficult to over come. Water baptism cannot save. Your reliance on water baptism undermines your credibility.

Thank God that Jesus is paying no heed whatsoever to unbelievers and continues to pour out the Holy Spirit
upon all flesh …

The full gospel is preached
People believe and repent and come to faith in Christ Jesus and his salvation
People are water baptized by full immersion
Many have their first healing miracles: the blind gain sight, the deaf hear, the lame walk, the sick are healed,
Church members lay hands on these novice disciples and people are taught to seek the baptism of the Holy Spirit
with the Bible evidence of speaking in new tongues.

People are dramatically converted from their previous sinful worldly lives and become converted pretty well immediately
by the power of God within them …
Alcoholics stop drinking
Those that chew beetlenut (a narcotic berry) stop this habit
Wife bashers become good husbands
Criminals and violent people become good members of their village and start to live righteously
Men put away their machetes and stop revenge attacks on neighbouring villages
Perpetrators of murders and violence against others go and reconcile with their victims and surviving families,
and seek forgiveness for their crimes (offering atonement to those who have suffered by them)
Drug addicts are miraculously cleansed and set free from their addictions (heroin, marihuana, cigarettes, etc)
Converts become disciples and have testimonies to their conversion and praying in tongues when receiving the Holy Spirit
and to the multiple many healings, miracles and blessings in their new life in Jesus.

Please respond to what we were discussing. It was whether Acts 2:38 reference to baptism in Jesus name is water baptism. Notice that the name of Jesus was used during water baptisms not Holy Ghost baptisms:

It is recorded that some were water baptized PRIOR to receiving the infilling of the Holy Ghost:

Acts 8:12-17
But when they believed Philip preaching the things concerning the kingdom of God, and the name of Jesus Christ, they were baptized, both men and women.

Then Simon himself believed also: and when he was baptized, he continued with Philip, and wondered, beholding the miracles and signs which were done.
Now when the apostles which were at Jerusalem heard that Samaria had received the word of God, they sent unto them Peter and John:
Who, when they were come down, prayed for them, that they might receive the Holy Ghost:
(For as yet he was fallen upon none of them: only they were baptized in the name of the Lord Jesus.)
Then laid they their hands on them, and they received the Holy Ghost.

Acts 19:2-6
He said unto them, Have ye received the Holy Ghost since ye believed? And they said unto him, We have not so much as heard whether there be any Holy Ghost.
And he said unto them, Unto what then were ye baptized? And they said, Unto John's baptism.
Then said Paul, John verily baptized with the baptism of repentance, saying unto the people, that they should believe on him which should come after him, that is, on Christ Jesus.
When they heard this, they were baptized in the name of the Lord Jesus. (water baptism in the name of Jesus as commanded by Peter in Acts 2:38)
And when Paul had laid his hands upon them, the Holy Ghost came on them; and they spake with tongues, and prophesied. (received the baptism of the Holy Ghost)

The Lord is troubling you over this matter. You did not refute the real issue over the meanings of the two Greek words in question regarding baptism. You attack another man and reveal your hatred toward believers with whom you disagree.

hahahha please do not take the Lord name in vain, is some abusive way to bring indictments against me. Yes, I did and even used the word of God and grammatical meaning continually from the Greek concerning Acts 2: 38. I think what I will do is post-
Dr. James Montgomery Boice words on Acts 2:38 and what he said about water baptism and end your charade.

"It is our duty, therefore, to endeavor with God’s mighty help to see the effects of that baptism played in our daily lives through faith in Christ and obedience to the Word of God. "

1 James M. Boice, The Gospel of John, Grand Rapids: Zondervan, 1985. p. 129.

2 Ibid.

3 Jesus’ teaching in this passage, as well as the representations from the Book of Acts2:38, make clear that the sacrament of baptism is to be administered publicly by the same officers entrusted with the public teaching of God’s Word.

Now
here is some more for you from Dr. Boice

  • Every case of conversion in the New Testament was followed baptism by immersion. "And he ordered the chariot to stop; and they both went down into the water, Philip as well as the eunuch, and he baptized him. When they came up out of the water, the Spirit of the Lord snatched Philip away; and the eunuch no longer saw him, but went on his way rejoicing" (Acts 8:38-39). (See also Acts 9:17-19; 10:45-48; 11:1-4, 15-18; 16:13-15, 29-34; 18:7-8; 19:1-4)

that is funny I do not see where anyone has suggested baptism by water saved a person. Please show me where that was mentioned?

Now you want to make nice. If the Holy Spirit had wanted to convey water baptism in Acts 2:38 He would have used the word bapto not 'baptizo'. See Mark 16 to find the difference. I am not against water baptism I am against the misrepresentation that water baptism is required for salvation or the receiving of the Holy Spirit.

Water baptism is for obedience not for salvation.

LOL this is the funniest thing i have seen yet .

Speaking prophecy after the manner of tongues is possible today with electronic devices that can translate between to unknowns is still possible, in that way the gospel is spread.

This is what I'm talking about with these type of prideful men who say things so unbiblical while trying to interject those who seek the power of the Holy Spirit and the Gifts of the Holy Spirit are in error.

done with electronic device hahahahhaha What a joke. These secular humanistic so-called Christians now state that an electronic device can authoritatively translate the gospel and be used to spread it. No empowerment of the Holy Spirit needed?

LOL hahahha, thank you for proving just how foolish and unbiblical you are.

Thank you.
Hi Thanks for the reply.

I am not trying to sell the device. We are to buy spiritual truth and not sell it. Wall Mart has one for $43.00 without tax. They have no authority of its own self it can be likened to prophecy after the manner of tongue, or after the manner of Balaam's Ass . It preaches the gospel.(prophecy) As far as empowerment God empowers men. The intelligence did do not just fall from the sky. They have one called Babel be gone.

It would seem many have no idea as to the difference between the things not seen and those seen and therefore they must turn things upside down in order to make a that which is written without effect. I say no sign gifts for confirming something.

Does a spirit have flesh? Spirit has to do with the things not seen . Spiritual, the things of the spirit they are found after many things of the spirit .

Personally I think the new devices re a great way to fulfill the commandment, the great commission go out into the world and make disciples of God. Gives a whole new meaning to walking by faith. Let your fingers do the walking.

here is the issue with the person who uses a device that translates instead of interprets. When someone speaks in tongues under the inspiration of the Holy Spirit another person can interpret what has been said. That is not a translation from one language spoken into another. it is an inspiration was given to the person as to what the Holy Spirit wants to say. that is not a translation.

Unscriptural - not supported by truthful reading of NT.
Truthful reading.through the eyes of those who seek after signs?

Would that support the foundation of the sign founded in Isiah 28. God mocking those who mock him by establishing their own oral tradition like the one developed by those who love to seek after sign. It appears they have not determined what the sign confirms and the conformation of the law found in 1 Corinthian 14 . What does the sign confirm? Does it represent... "yet for all that" they still refuse to beleive prophecy after any manner?

Its the living word of the Holy Spirit that does the interpreting. Not of us after our own private interpretations or personal commentaries. We preach Christ not our own selves. We are warned of those who say we do need a man seen, to teach us.

If they are not given the gift of tongues (prophecy in all the langue's of all the nations ) which now is not possible .God is no longer bringing new revelations after any manner to include tongues. He has sealed up that possibility with seven seals . How would they today understand what the other person is saying. They would be barbarians to each other .Cave men. We do not know Christ after the private interpretations of men .

There is no difference in the word translated from the Greek 907 baptizo in Acts and Mark with the exception of the tense. Acts is future tense and Mark usage refers to the occurrence.

NT:907
baptizo (bap-tid'-zo); from a derivative of NT:911; to immerse, submerge; to make overwhelmed (i.e. fully wet); used only (in the N. T.) of ceremonial ablution, especially (technically) of the ordinance of Christian baptism:

KJV - Baptist, baptize, wash.

You are correct but 'baptizo' means a submersion like a sunken ship. There is no intent to resurface that which has been immersed in 'baptizo'. The other form bapto is used when referring to water because it is a dipping action.

Holy Spirit baptism occurs the moment we believe and it is a continuous immersion. Water is temporary or else we drown.

that's, why you do not know what you are talking about, there is no private interpretation, but there are Spirit-filled applications in the word of God. And the Holy Spirit knows which word in the Bible you need to hear right now. That is called rhema

Well if there is no private interpretation. (our personal commentary). Whose interpretation will interpret these sound men make without meaning? How would two unknow languages commune with each other back and forth as the preaching of the gospel ? Won't they be barbarians' to each other? The tower of Babel stuff .Like Uhg booga ? umph chagalooga boom bom boom? What the meaning of that kind of tongue

Who do we seek after to interpret seeing we are warned of those who say we do need a man to teach us .We have the interpretation of the Spirit .Why would we take a chance on letting the father of lies get his foot in the door? To sell his wares.? Did God really say a person will not die or was that an error in translation ?

the interpretation is in context to the gift of the Holy Spirit not overriding the authoritative word of God. If your going to be immature
and mock the gifts of the Holy Spirit with your childish "Uhg booga ? umph chagalooga boom bom boom? ". then I cannot take you seriously and you are just a troll. And the Tower of Babel was not non-languages spoken the word of God in Genesis 11:7 says

"Go to, let us go down, and there confound their language, that they may not understand one another's speech. "

the word Confound means to MIX. God made them speak in another language it was not made up incoherent speech. That is the context of Genesis 11.

More misrepresentation and error.

It amazes me that you can be told something a dozen times, and not even begin to understand it.

People who speak in tongues don't claim to be bringing additions to Scripture. People who prophesy don't claim to be bringing additions to Scripture.

Philip's four daughters prophesied. Where is the Scripture they spoke forth? It's not recorded! Why? Because not everything that is prophesied by the Holy Spirit is intended to be Scripture!

Cornelius and his companions spoke in tongues. Where is the Scripture they spoke forth? It's not recorded! Why? Because not everything that is spoken in tongues by the Holy Spirit is intended to be Scripture!

Is it even hinted anywhere that Cornelius prophesied? No. Never. They are two different, distinct manifestations of the Holy Spirit.

This is a very good video exposing just how utterly dangerous the pentecostal/charismatic movement is today. Aside from the unbiblical hysterical laughter, rolling on the floor, barking like dogs, slain in the spirit, and unintelligible ramblings. Unfortunately, by it's length alone, almost no one is going to watch it. But if you do, start at about the 35 minute mark. This completely exposes how this movement is trying to unify Christians. Unfortunately, this unification is satanic, as it joins all sorts of heretical churches and ultimately recognizes as the POPE as the head of the whole movement.

So those of you that have been deceived into thinking YOUR charismatic church would have nothing to do with catholicism or the vicar of Rome, you better do your homework and leave this movement.
Proverbs 27:9
Ointment and perfume rejoice the heart; So doth the sweetness of a man's friend by hearty counsel.

What you say is true brother PennEd, and it is out of love that we attempt to wake them from their slumber.

The video is lengthy, and also the cover looks similar to other videos some here have ran into online, but 95% or more is just 2 gracious men discussing historic facts and presenting the truth out of love.

When I watched it with my wife, we had to watch in increments of 15-20 minutes as there is much information to absorb in one sitting, but well worth watching.

May God our Father in Christ Jesus open their eyes before it's to late.

Ephesians 5:13-14
But all things that are reproved are made manifest by the light: for whatsoever doth make manifest is light.

14Wherefore he saith, Awake thou that sleepest, and arise from the dead, and Christ shall give thee light.
