I think Adonijah did a no, no..................... That means he was reprimanded and warned not to do it again and he did it again! So, he was killed.

I'm trying to guess and not look it up................ two guys are coming to mind.... not sure of their names but,

guy no. 1 tried to self appoint himself as King and begged Solomon's mother for mercy for his life to be spared from Solomon. Then, he comes back later and ask for King David's concubine to be his wife. Solomon had him killed.

guy no. 2 did something wrong and was told he could never leave a certain city or he would be killed.....one of his animals got lose and he left the city to look for it and Solomon was told and had him killed.

It is said that Matthew (Levi) is son of Alphaeus and James also son of Alphaeus are brothers. Matthew was a tax collector and James, called the lesser or younger one, I am not sure.

Yes, just the three sets of brothers. All the first four (Peter-Andrew-James-John) were fishermen when Christ called them. It is said it was James the half-brother of Jesus that wrote the Epistle. He was not of the 12 Apostles. We have the scripture in Mark 2:14 where Matthew (Levi) was son of Alphaeus as was James the lesser (younger).

I'm listening to a study currently on the book of James, and the preliminary material was talking about James the person. I found it fascinating that during Jesus' lifetime his brothers didn't believe in him and were not followers, but after Jesus resurrection we see James become not only involved but have a position of some importance. I'm not sure about Jesus other brothers (or sisters).

• James wrote the epistle of James (obviously), which may be one of the earliest NT writings.
• In Galatians 2.9, Paul mentions "James, Peter and John" as 'pillars' in the church - and it is normal for the list to be in order of importance. (Incidentally, it is this reference which is the reason the NT epistles appear in the order they do. Paul is first, being the most prolific, followed by James, Peter, and John).
• There's a couple of references in Acts where we see something like "James and the elders", implying he was the most senior.
• And interestingly, at the council of Jerusalem in Acts 15, James was the last to speak, and it seems he had the final say in the decision (Acts 15.19 "..it is my judgment, therefore..").

His epistle does have a lot of interesting material (though you do have to keep in mind its context - eg. it is specifically addressed to the Jews) yet Luther (I think it was Luther) calls it 'an epistle of straw'. From all the above, it seems to me that poor old James is a little misunderstood and/or under appreciated.

Anyway, just thought I'd share that.

Hmmm.......... The story is in Daniel Chapter 4........his name is Nebuchadnezzar.

At the end of the 7 years, God restored King Nebuchadnezzar back to his kingdom and the king said.....

It is such a blessing for God to set us free from pride so that we can freely walk in humility. Pride is bondage an Humility is freedom and puts us in a position to easily receive from God all that He has for us!
