The sinners response is "drivel" and "hypocrite" this is really powerful biting stuff.
I thought our guide was the word of God, the Holy Spirit that indwells us, and the reality
of the victory we have over sin and evil in our lives.
But where is the connection someone has between their security in religion and Jesus.
What would happen if the truth broke in and their rebellion was made plain?
Nothing because truth is only significant if we take it seriously else nothing changes.
Listen to Jesus on someone coming back from the dead,
27 "He answered, 'Then I beg you, father, send Lazarus to my father's house,
28 for I have five brothers. Let him warn them, so that they will not also come to this place of torment.'
29 "Abraham replied, 'They have Moses and the Prophets; let them listen to them.'
30 "'No, father Abraham,' he said, 'but if someone from the dead goes to them, they will repent.'
31 "He said to him, 'If they do not listen to Moses and the Prophets, they will not be convinced even if someone rises from the dead.'"
Luke 16
It is why listening and learning are part of salvation, not setting ones own agenda and inventing
grace that forgives unbelief and rebellion when done in full sight of Jesus, with Jesus covering this
sin with His blood, and no need to repent or change ones lifestyle. Only the rich and secure love this
kind of story, because it says their protection and safety is not threatened and they are safe to stay
just as they are. This is exactly what the church of Laodicia believed and the people the prophets
spoke to.
14 They dress the wound of my people as though it were not serious. 'Peace, peace,' they say, when there is no peace.
15 Are they ashamed of their loathsome conduct? No, they have no shame at all; they do not even know how to blush. So they will fall among the fallen; they will be brought down when I punish them," says the LORD.
16 This is what the LORD says: "Stand at the crossroads and look; ask for the ancient paths, ask where the good way is, and walk in it, and you will find rest for your souls. But you said, 'We will not walk in it.'
